Country Court was founded in 1983 by Roshan Bogha and current Chairman, Abdul Kachra with the opening of their first care home, Beech Lodge in Holbeach, Lincolnshire. The care home’s reputation soon grew, led by kindness, compassion and dignity. A further seven homes were opened by 1990 establishing Country Court as one of the regions most trusted group of care homes. A combination of nursing skills and a professional, yet homely environment, the model for care continued to expand and today Country Court is both caring for and employing thousands of people across the UK. Through the standard of care and the modern, comfortable homes created for residents, Country Court aspires to provide the kind of care every one of us would wish our loved ones to receive. The group operates 33 nursing and care homes and plans to open a further three homes in 2021. It remains a Family-run business to this day, with the company philosophy “Our family caring for yours” at the heart of every home.

The home I was in was lovely my review…

The home I was in was lovely my review is based on the support from head office.
Namely the hospitality support team.

They do not care about the residents or there housekeeping or kitchen staff.
They bully people till they leave. They do not want it run as a home but a hotel (dare move any furniture to benefit a resident, you’re be pulled in to a meeting for upsetting the speck of the home)

Can not fault the care from care team/ activities / non care teams in home.

But head office have no idea. Avoid at all cost if you want to be able to do your job and support residents fully. Go else where as hospitality support will just tell you a resident cant sit there as chairs at wrong angel to window and it needs to be moved.

There is no CPR anymore. They make it up as they go along

shambles is the best way to describe and complete disregard of litigants in persons, case was adjourned today for tomorrows hearing, last minute because the senior partner of a firm where there are many lawyers and a barrister instructed, are not available. no applicatin was made with fee paid. it is tactical as they wanted to see "my hand "clearly and to go on a further fishing expedition.

it is unaccptable that the court allowed it, when the same day they send me an email saying if i ever wanted to adjourn i would need to pay fee and make an application.

Have never worked for a company which employs managers and deputy managers with no idea.
Micro managing when not needed and making work harder than it should be. I saw so many things that should have have been reported to families but were not and staff doing things that should have been a sackable offence.
For reference Respect is a two way street - but not at this company - It is expected and not returned.

I am furious with this company they are complete liars.
We were told as relatives of family members and the relatives that when they bought the home they were just going to be refurbed.
One person held my relatives hand and promised they would not be moved and they were starting open.
They then dropped the bombshell they were closing and knocking the home to the ground and we have to find the relatives somewhere to go and they made all the fantastic staff redundant.
The place was fantastic the staff amazing it was like one big family.
My relative was so looked after and now they are all being moved and split up after making good friendships with other residents and staff.
All they think of is having a fancy place with waiters cocktail bars waterfalls in reception. The residents aren’t interested in that.
All we want is for them to be safe and well looked after.
Shame on them for doing this.
Their moto is residents health safety and well-being that’s a joke when they are chucking them out of their home.

MONEY MONEY MONEY

Do not send any of your loved ones to this disgusting company. We were told in a meeting that they were going to refurbish the care home as they had bought it off another company. We then found out soon after that they were demolishing the home. Residents had to move and we were all being made redundant. They said they are going to rebuild the care home but it would honestly not surprise me if they just sold the land for more money. They have gotten Indian people to live in the home that can barely speak English and are exploiting them by making them work illegal hours. One of the Indian girls looks very sad and has been crying. They do not care one bit about the residents or staff. Aslong as there pockets are being filled they do what they like. Us ex employees are furious as the home had improved so so much and now all that work has been for nothing. It might look like a fancy place on their website and photos etc but the reality is the complete opposite. Do not be fooled

Country Court

Company took over our home earlier in the year. We were told big plans they had for our home and what they were going to do, ensuring our jobs were SECURE. A couple months later we were told in a meeting, without any notion as to what was going to happen, our home was to be closed and staff are being made redundant. Only help received was one meeting where the company were meant to help staff find jobs however didn’t show up and was laid on our lovely manager instead.
Residents told they need to be out of home by November and losing their lovely home we made plenty of memories in.
Staff hired within company who had poor English, and not enough knowledge of English culture to enrich residents.
We built such trusting relationships with our residents and because we CARE we visited them in their new homes.. they seem more stressed and miserable.. is this how we treat our elderly? This ‘care company’ should learn the term ‘respect their elders’. For a care company they should preach what lies they post all over their social media…

Worked at Ferrars hall ….. a real eye opener

Worked at Ferrars hall , it was lovely to begin with but within months that changed . Manager was nothing short of useless . Ignored any genuine complaints made by staff even with evidence and protected other staff whilst they bullied their way through the job each shift. Night seniors who did absolutely no care, night seniors who would only work certain floors and with certain carers and ridiculed and belittled less experienced care staff , night staff who spent the majority of the time outside smoking . All of these things were highlighted to management including regional manager but nothing was ever done. Majority of the time shifts ran short with some staff deciding to only do half of their shift , thus leaving vulnerable residents at risk and receiving poor levels of care. Possibly the worse place I’ve worked and definitely the worse manager I have ever had.

I feel so awful for the residents

I was basically offered the job before I was even interviewed which is scary, it just shows how desperate they are that they don’t care who works there. Admin was very incompetent when I worked there, they didn’t pay people the right amount ever so you always have to go back and get it fixed. The front of house manager only got the role as his mum is manager, absolutely no leadership or communication skills. Rota’s aren’t done properly which leaves them short staffed and in turn effects the level of care the residents receive, he eats his breakfast on the job which of course is food from the kitchen, he will do anything to avoid working front of house and he once left work for an asthma check up but he was actually getting a tattoo. He takes short cuts for everything like taking the bins out through the kitchen. Middle floor carers are horrible, they all sit round a table eating snacks from the residents snack table whilst ignoring and laughing at residents. One time they left a lady needing the toilet for so long that she wet herself. Another time they all stood around a resident copying what she was saying and making fun of her. One carer tried to move a resident on her own without a lift and dropped her and she hit her head but because no one was there she got away with calling it an assisted fall. You’re only allowed a break if you’re a smoker and then you get as many breaks as you want. The shift pattern is so confusing, you work ten hour shifts and by the end of it you can barely walk as you’re constantly on your feet but it would be so much easier if they cut the shifts in half then more people would be likely to stay at the job and they might actually show up. Everyone goes out drinking on work nights then come in drunk the next day complaining of a massive hangover and how much they hate their jobs. People leave their shift whenever they want to get takeaway then come in and eat it in front of the residents whilst the residents ask to go to the toilet or get out of bed. People steal things from peoples bags in the locker room as there’s no where near enough lockers for everyone. Most people don’t show up or call in sick. There’s one resident that smokes and if the carers want a longer break they ask her if she needs a cigarette so that they can go out with her and she can’t remember how many times she’s smoked so they can do it multiple times in one day but she’s only supposed to have one cigarette a day. There is no proper training or help, I was supposed to have five days of “training” but I only got three then was thrown into the deep end. I even asked for help when I needed to and the front of house manager refused. Management are so cold and lack any social skills, consideration or empathy and higher management and trainers don’t wear masks when they come to the home. The meals are not five star as described on the Country Court website and are too close together during the day which means the residents haven’t had time to build up an appetite. 16:30 is also way too early for their last meal of the day as most residents then won’t eat until 10am the next day depending on when carers can help them up. It’s obvious that this is done to save money though as if they spread the meals out properly they would have to hire two front of house staff per floor, one for an earlier shift and one for a later shift. One front of house staff per floor isn’t enough as it is though. Most residents have a mousse for dessert which definitely isn’t the five star desert that is advertised on the Country Court website. They also only ever have two options to choose from for their meals and most of the time the residents either aren’t very happy with the meals offered or don’t actually like the meals. That’s nothing against the chef though, he is one of the only decent people there that actually do their job. The activities available for residents are usually very short and boring as they’re all last minute ideas, they’re not stimulating at all. The only thing the residents can do for the rest of the day is watch the TV. They also can’t do any activities they’re interested in unless offered by the activities team, for example, on the website it says that if you like gardening that there’s plenty of opportunities to get stuck in but you could actually only do it if the activities team decided they would offer gardening as an activity. If relatives or higher ups visit the home everyone puts on an act as if everything is perfect and they actually start doing their jobs which explains all the good reviews from residents family members. The “home” cares more about saving money than actually caring for the residents.

Not even worth 1 star.

Not even worth 1 star.
My husband went to Swanholme a Country Court care home for respite care following a stay in hospital and because as his wife and carer I was ill and unable to care for him.
The care was dreadful, he is a social man. but with limited mobility and no speech following a stroke and was left in bed, with the sides up, even having his meals in bed. When I visited after 2.30 in the afternoon, he still had food round his mouth, down his clothes and on the bed.
Even when his hospital he did not have the rails round the bed and sat in a chair to eat.
I was so distressed by the state of him and the fact he was so upset that I arranged to take him home 2 days after that visit
When we collected him his medication was handed back in an unsafe manner with loose tablets in the bottom of the bag and when I asked for a medication chart so that I would know what medication would still be needed that day, I was handed a hand written scrap of paper that was incorrect.
When he first went into Swanholme my son and I took his clothes etc. there. I explained to the staff member who showed us his room and discussed his needs with us that some of his clothes may not have been labelled. I was told not to worry and to leave the suitcase on the bed and that she would make sure that everything was labelled and make an inventory.
When we collected him his suitcase was on the bed and some of the clothes in it were not his so we removed them and left them on the bed much of his clothing was missing.
I spoke to the manager about the missing clothes and since my husband was distressed asked her to post the missing items to me, since a round trip to collect them from the home was in excess of 80 miles. She refused to post them went into the office and closed the door and we left
When we left not a single member of staff said goodbye to my husband.
He had previously at The Grove, another country court home and the care there had been superb.
I made a formal complaint and received a response from the manager that was unsatisfactory.
5 months on we have still not received his clothes and nor have we received any compensation or even apology for there loss. The value of the clothes was close to £200.00 and includes a therapeutic hand brace.
I feel that the organization is very keen to make as much profit as possible and has little regard for the dignity, care or holistic wellbeing of someone who is vulnerable and there for respite care. The management leaves much to be desired with a failure to listen, respond to complaints, ensure that needs are met and to add to that is rude, abrupt and unable to get basic facts right.
I am unable to recommend Swanholme to anyone wanting respite care, not only does it fail to meet the needs of someone who is vulnerable, in my husbands case it caused a deterioration in his mental and physical health that has taken months to repair.
I offered to pay for his stay in advance when my son and I looked round and again when we left. A bill arrived a few weeks later, which I initially refused to pay because we still did not have his clothes or a satisfactory conclusion to my complaints. The organisation did not respond to emails of messages and the regional manager who said he would phone me, at a time we pre arranged, when he had the opportunity to investigate my complaint has not phoned or contacted me in any way
I was threatened and felt that I was been bullied, the organisation contacted my son for payment, which was completely out of order and I eventually paid.
The whole episode has caused me much distress and damaged my own mental health.
I feel that not only have we paid £950 a week (£200 more than the sister home The Grove), for inadequate care but that we have also involuntary donated nearly £200.00 of clothes, a couple of dozen incontinence pads, and a bag of toiletries to Swanhome

A very poor experience of a company…

A very poor experience of a company more interested in profits than providing high quality care.

My father spent a few weeks with them for post hospital respite. The quality of his care was in my opinion ineffective. His medication was poorly managed by the care home staff and many personal possessions were lost.

My mother made numerous complaints but the country care employees were more interested in perusing outstanding money, including making numerous calls to family members to attempt to solicit payment.

A very difficult experience which put my mother under huge and unnecessary emotional strain.

I would not recommend this care facility. Missing clothing is not acceptable, poor handling of specific medications is not acceptable. Attempting to solicit payment from family members is not acceptable.

I don’t know what they are like as a care home but they treat candidates that apply for jobs appallingly. After being told by one of the hiring manages at my interview ‘ I’d lie here and just make something up’ when asked a question totally unacceptable. I was told I would find out at the end of that day or the following morning, nearly 3 days later I’m still waiting for a RESPECTFUL phone call. Please don’t lie about what makes the company so amazing to work for when you DON’T even have the decency to let candidates know about a job they applied for. Totally disgusting treatment of people! I would never let my mum go into this place as care home. If I can turn up for an interview please show the same respect to me by letting me know the outcome.
