Clapham and Collinge recently dealt with my sale and purchase of a property. Elizabeth Gibson dealt with the case and I cannot fault the service I received. I was always kept informed of the circumstances and we completed in a very timely manner.

Appalling customer service and refusal to make things right. We retained C&C in April 2023 to handle my late uncle's estate. The FIRST solicitor, Lauren Abbs resigned in July 2023. The SECOND solicitor, Susannah Parr, shared the C&C billing account to 7 September, which had already accumulated to the estimated total cost for completion of the entire estate. The accounts confirmed that Ms. Abbs had billed all hours at her rates and not her paralegal's, and she even billed to correct multiple mistakes we pointed out to her in her July 2023 preparation of the draft IHT400. Ms. Parr resigned from C&C in October 2023. When we still didn't have grant of probate by December 2023, we made our own inquiries and discovered C&C failed to make the tax payment to HMRC in August 2023 and to refile the IHT421 in October 2023. C&C notified us on 21 December 2023 that the THIRD solicitor on our case, Graeme Beattie, had also left the firm. When we asked in writing on 21 December 2023 for a management review of our case and a copy of the billing to date, partner Ben Lowe failed to acknowledge the requests. When the FOURTH solicitor Christina Stohr started work at C&C in January 2024, she informed us on 10 January 2024 that C&C received grant of probate on 19 December 2023, concurrent to December communications with Mr. Lowe. We supplied C&C in writing with specific billing questions in preparation for a case review meeting with Ms. Stohr on 2 February 2024, during which Ms. Stohr stated she had not read the letter in advance of the meeting. Ms. Stohr continued to refuse to provide the accounts since 7 September 2023. There were so many opportunities for C&C to step up, be transparent, address direct questions, and even make things right. We paid their secretive bill in full in order to end doing business with them. Too many mistakes, costs above estimate, personnel departures, and pompous responses from Mr. Lowe and Ms. Stohr. Engage a more transparent and trustworthy firm.

This is the second time I've used Clapham & Collinge's services; first for a lease agreement and now for a shareholder agreement. On both occasions C&C was outstanding. Completely thorough and professional.

I've attempted to get a response from Clapham-Collinge over a serious matter, involving an on-going court case, for over 6 months. Despite numerous emails and hand delivered communications, they haven't even had the courtesy to reply or even acknowledge me, not even once!
I know someone who used them for conveyancing when selling a flat and they didn't keep funds back to pay the apartments service bill - which is simple standard practice. They charged the buyer for ground rent for their client when it was the for the year prior to them purchasing the property!
We had some serious issues with one of their clients but despite our own solicitor contacting them, they never even told their client ... which meant that their client ended up with a court claim.
I have never come across a company so appalling, despite some good reviews - they are only as good as their last review. Wouldn't touch them with a barge pole, and would advise anyone to be very circumspect if they engage this company.
Frankly disgraceful.

A great service from start to finish. They handled our house sale with such efficiency, this helped with a smooth & quick sale.

Lauren Abbs was so approachable, friendly and helpful, wouldn't hesitate going back.

Perfect service always spoke directly with Liz concerning conveyancing matters.

When looking to write our wills we quickly hit the 'too difficult to sort' barrier and put them to one side. Lauren (Abbs) being aware of our family situation and understanding how important it was that we actually completed them, kept behind us, explained the risks of inaction and helped us to arrive at a suitable conclusion. I have to say that Clapham & Collinge, Sheringham, are the slowest solicitors I have ever come across in house conveyancing! Why is it that it takes them weeks to answer simple enquiries? And why is it that the estate agents have absolutely no sway with getting them to act any quicker? They always had a 'go slow' reputation in the area, but with the current Covid madness, and everyone wanting to buy and sell, it appears that this company has taken on far too many cases, and they simply can't cope! It stands to reason that if they have 60 or more cases at any time, that they are only going to give a few minutes to each per week, if that! The problem is they are slowing everything and everyone else down, and it is wrong, as they are one of the most expensive for sales and purchases in the area! And they don't offer a no sale or purchase, no fee agreement, meaning it simply doesn't matter of they take 16 weeks to complete (when it should take 6 to 8!) as if it all falls through, they make their fees again! This is appalling! So, since they are making so much money, with so many cases, why don't they employ some more people, and really help with the current climate and create some employment, too?

I'm happy to recommend Clapham and Collinge; all the staff are helpful, efficient and friendly and Erin and her team completed the conveyancing whilst working from home during the coronavirus lockdown. I'll certainly use their services again in the future.

I felt that the entire staff went above an beyond in working with me remotely. I was kept well informed through every step of the process and the service felt very personal, even though I am on a different continent.
