I would say my experience of chrysalis so far has been good

I would describe this organisation as “low rent”. Many of the good tutors have left. The good ones remaining are outnumbered by those whose experience is lacking. The “management” defensively hides behind inadequate, unjust processes.
Essentially, Chrysalis Courses is the training arm for the NCPS. Board members sit across both organisations, and a greater gap between the two should be created for impartiality, fairness and objectivity.

Having class once a month worked perfectly with my busy life and Chrysalis was just perfect for my needs. Both the my teacher and student support were very helpful and supportive on this journey.

My tutor has been amazing and the course structure well thought out to be relatively flexible in terms of fitting it in with other commitments. I did a lot of research and I think it is great value for a professional course.

The help for placement in Northern Ireland is practically non existent. Paying over 4 grand is a waste of money and not helpful for trying to enter the real, professional world of counselling in NI. My lecturer is great but is using the materials Chrysalis give which can be very outdated and basic. I have told people to stay far away as other services provide more for far less.

Ive found the srudent support really helpful. The mis communication between tutors has been confusing and left people in our class a bit lost on what we at meant to do. Classes we have found have been were we followed a work sheet we could have read at home. Supervisors Ive had have told me they find the level of depth the course goes into isn't good because I dont seem as educated as people on courses from colleges like other students in my supervison group have went to the same as my supervisor . Has left doubt on wherever Im very capable maybe chrysalis isn't getting enough credit or hasn't been as common a place to study. Not sure what it is but nearing end of year three and wandering if Im not that capable or trusted because of the stigma that the way Chrysalis structure their classes is differnt to other places of study. My class and me have talked about how we really enjoyed the first year of Hypnotherapy therapy and think we were because of the kind of tutor we had. Ive struggled with the cost of the course and student finance have been really supportive in offering extended time to pay. Overall its been interesting just feel alone and not much check in how our clinical practice has been going . quite isolating and your left to your own devices to study or not . So long as assignments are done. Enjoyed the flexibility of weekends so can maintain working and earning . Ideal course if your super Confident already and dont need to talk about your journey in class just fcu on the paperwork that you bring to class and the tutor reads back to you really. It's been fun at times with group work not always time for everyone to practice .

Fantastic opportunity

I want to be honest here!
I was struggling to find a placement for my 3rd year since September last year in September!
I have tried all the listed options provided for
College but most of those placements are not within my location range! I emailed searching and back and forward to the one I like still not staring yet even though they had my paperwork and some paperwork work loss in the process! It was taking up my time and stressing me out! It did upset me
I wish 🙏🏼 you could find placement and be ready for us instead of students having to search on their own!
We pay a lot of money for this course, the package itself the course was structured and all good! However, customer service could do better to help more with our struggles. English second-language speakers find it hard! Thank you

I enjoyed the course and found Darryl and Jonathan to be very supportive. The content was of a high standard and there was a good mix of theory and practice.

The three year Psychotherapeutic Counselling Professional Diploma course is affordable, flexible and leads to an accredited qualification with good, supervised practical experience. The support staff at Chrysalis are very helpful and usually respond quickly to queries. We had a few problems with our tutor this year and the odd communication breakdown, which is the only reason why I have taken away one star. On balance I have enjoyed the course so far and feel I am well on the way to achieving my professional goals, gaining confidence, skills and knowledge in my chosen field.

Katie (from Sudent North support) was so helpful when I needed a temporary pause in my studies.
When I was ready to return, Katie helped me re-enrol with the next course group.
This means that I can now re-engage with my studies - which is exactly what I wanted to do.

Sandra our tutor for year 2 has been so supportive and helpful and brings passion and knowledge in abundance. She shares so much and her feedback is thorough and thoughtful and so helpful. She's been amazing and I'm excited to continue the second half of the year and progress onto year three. Thank you so much to the staff behind the scenes and placements team too for always being ready to answer queries and help where they can.

I have been with chrysalis for 2.5 yrs, my 1st year was enjoyable, with a great tutor, my 2nd year not so much, however, on year 3 1st session in January, my current tutor gave me structure, with slideshows & video clips to explain in more depth and giving examples of the different topics, I have thoroughly enjoyed my first 5 modules as I am a visual learner, the guidance given is great by Sarah Jones and she is a real fit for our group, I am looking forward to the rest of my final year with Chrysalis

I have had a great experience training with Chrysalis. The pluralistic content of the course has been very interesting and I believe has put me in good stead for my future as a counsellor. Most beneficial to my experience though is my tutor, Martina. Martina is incredibly knowledgeable, always puts us at ease, fills us with confidence and gives valuable feedback.

Great tutor

I joined in the second year of the Chrysalis Level 5 Diploma on the Guildford course due to some previous study. My group have been so lovely and supportive and I value each and every one of them. I am so thankful for the opportunity I have had to work with and learn from them. Our tutor Martina has been incredible! There aren’t enough words to describe just how amazing she is, and I’m sure without her my experience with Chrysalis would have been very different, as sometimes the course lacks structure and communication. Martina is warm, knowledgeable and passionate about all of our growth as individuals and practitioners. She has helped me to grow my confidence and I can’t thank her enough for the last 2 years! You’re amazing Martina!

Our tutor Martina, on the Guildford course, has pretty much been the best thing about my Chrysalis journey. She’s an incredible tutor, insanely intelligent and the main reason I continued to stay on the course.

Martina the tutor is absolutely brilliant. So knowledgeable and supportive. Her teaching style is excellent and has enabled such growth and confidence in her students. Martina is an invaluable asset to Chrysalis. Sometimes the communication can be a bit slow from the student services.

Just coming to the end of my final year and have thoroughly enjoyed the course in Guildford. The tutor, Martina, is absolutely fabulous and has really made the course engaging. Her passion and knowledge are second to none.
