Terrible, terrible, terrible. Called Carelon to transfer two prescriptions, but they said they don't do that. They require a prescription from a doctor's office. This is ludicrious. It is a standard industry practice to transfer prescriptions between pharmacies.

Now I am getting calls from Carelon that they can't reach my doctor for new prescriptions, and they are asking me to call my doctor. I secured a prescription when I saw my doctor a few months ago. Now I am going to have to pay more money to continue filling the prescription through the current pharmacy.

My doctor prescribe medications for chronic migraines and severe obstructive sleep apnea. Despite adequate clinical documentation supporting the medical necessity for these drugs, including inability to take step therapy drugs due to cardiovascular disease every prior authorization and appeal has been denied leaving me with nothing to take to treat my obstructive sleep apnea and chronic migraine pain. I live with almost every single day. This is the worst experience I’ve ever had with health insurance or their selected Pharmacy provider. I’ve worked in Healthcare for 35 years and never experienced anything like this. It is absolutely inhumane negligent and criminal in my opinion leaving people with no viable options who are in pain or ill to save a dollar. Shame. I cannot wait for open enrollment. I will never be a member of BCBS CARELON RX AGAIN. Shame on this company for what you put your members through.

This is the online pharmacy via the Anthem BCBS website. The experience ordering through them has been a total nightmare.

I have had 9 seperate chat conversations with them and have been without three critical medications for close to a month now. They have failed on multiple occassions to reach out to my doctor to confirm prescrpitions and simply cancel them, starting the process over.

Chat agents end chats once they have determined they cannot help you and you are forced to start all over again.

DO NOT USE.

We tried Carelon, for a year. It's extremely difficult, frustrating, time consuming and, perhaps, actually impossible to contact a human representative, in order to confirm a very small claimed ($12) balance and pay them.

They are great at sending robotic emails, but unacceptably lousy at offering a viable path to a human customer service rep. Their operation apparently works for some folks, but in my experience, I've not dealt with any pharmacy, for myself or family members, which approaches the hassle of this Anthem entity.

I suggest doing your homework, very carefully, prior to trusting them with your maintenance prescription meds. In my experience, it's not hard to discover better options.

I would strongly advise anyone to stay away from Carelon Pharmacy.

This is now the second time they have delayed my medication, and it is completely unacceptable. The first incident involved my asthma medication, which was delayed without clear communication. This time, they lost my prescription in shipping and cannot even locate it.

What is most concerning is that they refused to cancel the order, preventing me from having the prescription sent to another pharmacy. This left me stuck without access to necessary medication while they offered no real solution.

Their system is clearly dysfunctional, and the lack of urgency or accountability is alarming. When it comes to medications—especially those that can directly impact a patient’s health—delays like this are not just inconvenient, they are dangerous.

It genuinely feels like cost and internal process matter more to them than patient safety.

If you rely on timely medication, I would strongly recommend choosing a pharmacy that prioritizes patient care and has reliable systems in place.

This place is the worst. I have to use them because of my ins. If you enjoy spending hours on the phone only to find out it was in vane and now you have to start over, you will love this place. You get to to talk to many people as they will transfer you 4 or 5 times and every time you have to give all your security info before you start over again and again and again.

Wanted to get started with Carolon Rx to perhaps save some money.

I ordered refills on Nov. 12th. Unfortunately, the post office messed up and sent two of them back. When I got the notice that they'd been returned, Nov. 25th, I called Carelon and was told I'd get the new refills in 5-7 business days. On the 7th day, Dec. 8th, I called to check on them and was told that they hadn't started processing them. I'm leaving on Saturday to spend three weeks at my brother's for the holidays and really need my prescriptions, so the rep told me she'd put a priority on the order, but couldn't guarantee they'd be here by Saturday. So I asked if she could send them to my brother's instead, and she said yes. They showed up at my place today. Thank heaven I haven't left yet, or I'd be in trouble. Giving one star for the prices (cheaper for me than CostPlus) and one star because they actually did rush them this time.

I would give them negative 100 if I could- THEY ARE THAT BAD!!! I am forced to use them for my spcialty meds due to my insurance. They have always been horrid, but are now DENYING ME MEDS FOR A MEDICAL CONDITION!!! They REFUSE to tell me what I can tell my dr to perscribe after THEY CHOSE to discontinue my current meds at end of 2025. They WILL NOT tell me what is covered next year and say i have to talk to insurance company; insurance company says Carelox writes the formulary and therefore insurance won't talk to me! Carelon REFUSES to call dr for script for meds that could be covered in 2026. THEY REFUSE to answer questions, hang up on me, send me in circles, tell me things have been done when they haven't, blame my doctor and then tell me to do things that my dr and i have alrady done! COMPLETELY INCOMPETENT!! THIS INCLUDES THE SUPERVISORS AND CASE MANAGERS WHO NEVER CALL YOU BACK! THEY ARE NOW PLAYING WITH MY LIFE AND I WILL SEND MY ER AND HOSPITAL BILLS TO THEM SINCE THEY HAVE NO COMPASSION AND JUST CARE ABOUT MONEY!! THEY ARE NOT INTERESTED IN HELPING PEOPLE- ONY INTERESTED IN TREATING YOU LIKE TRASH!!!
