Zero safety concern!
Zero safety concern!. I decided to take my nephew and two nieces (age 10 to 16) to C1 Speed Go Karting at Albion Park to finish off summer school holidays. It started well with clear instructions on what to do - we signed up $8 licence annual fee per child and we chose a package enabling them to race in the junior race, 20 laps or 10mins which ever came first total price $100. We sat down in the designated area to watch the safety video which only took a few minutes and proceeded to enter the kids put their helmets on and sat in their assigned karts. There was a total of 7 kids (and one adult) in the group and off they went. All the kids were having a lovely time until this ADULT started pushing his kart into the kids trying to get past them. I noticed this was happening lap after lap and realised that no one was stopping him. After the 3rd lap when he hit my 10 year old niece, sending her little head lunging forward at force I jumped and screamed at the attended to do something. He actually looked at me and said - did you want me to get him off the track to which I replied YES! I was mortified that they would allow this animal to continue to behaviour in this manner and what’s worse he was on the track with his young daughter and no one from C1 Speed initiated a stop to the race. They stopped the race and had a polite chat to him and restarted the race again. He then continued to crash and abuse his way around the track and that’s when I said to the attendees that I would deal with him since you have done nothing about the safety of my kids. When they finished their race I had a lot to say to this a^%hole that he thought it was wise to smash his way through a junior race he apologised profusely and hid in the corner like a coward I guess he wasn’t as tough off the race course against an ANGRY Aunt as he was bullying his way through the kids. My disappointment in your establishment is beyond thought, your lack of awareness and eye for detail is below standard and to be truthful unacceptable. How you could allow this to happen in a junior race is disgraceful and it clearly shows your management needs to review their processes and personal on how to rectify this going forward. I can not understand how safety isn’t demonstrated as a priority - you make us sign consent forms but what about your duty of care for your customers and equipment. When I addressed this with your duty manager her solution was to offer a free individual ride to the kids to which I quickly declined because it wasn’t about the $100 spent it was the fact this man was allowed to break the rules not even spoken too the very least you could have done is barred him from your unprofessional premises again but you didn’t - you allowed him to walk out and run to his car and run away. Sadly C1 Speed you need a lot of work and when the simple fundamental principles like safety are not adhered too then you guys are in a lot of trouble. I will never be returning and I warn any other parent / guardian to do the same this place does not have any interest in protecting your kids and it’s dangerous. It’s an expensive day out and I am gutted the kids day out was spoilt because of this person!
