I purchased a Scalemaster Softline SL-Twin Tank Non-Electric Water Softener from Buyaparcel for £845.49. The product arrived last week, and I arranged and paid for a qualified plumber to attend specifically to install it.
Unfortunately, when the packaging was opened, it became apparent that the essential installation components were missing.
My wife contacted Buyaparcel while the plumber was still at our property. We were told this was apparently a manufacturing issue and were offered a free return of the product. While I appreciate the offer of a return, I don't think this adequately addresses the inconvenience and expense caused by supplying an incomplete product.
I had already paid for a plumber to attend, only to discover that the water softener couldn't be installed. To avoid the hassle of returning an £845 product, arranging another installation and facing further delays, I have now had to purchase a Scalemaster installation kit for a further £97.55.
I am also particularly concerned that, after looking at other online reviews, there appear to be reports of customers experiencing similar issues with missing components. If this is a known or recurring problem, I would have expected Buyaparcel to have taken steps to ensure the product was complete before dispatch.
What makes the situation even more disappointing is the complete lack of customer service since raising my complaint. Despite sending numerous emails to Buyaparcel's customer service team, nobody has bothered to respond or provide any meaningful update. I have been left chasing them repeatedly despite having paid £845.49 for a product that arrived incomplete.
I have asked Buyaparcel to reimburse the £97.55 installation kit and the cost of the plumber's wasted attendance, as these costs have arisen directly from receiving an incomplete product. So far, however, I have received no response.
For an £845.49 purchase, I expected much better. The product should have arrived complete and ready to install. Instead, I've been left with additional expense, inconvenience, wasted time and, most frustratingly, a complete lack of communication from Buyaparcel.
Very disappointing experience. I would strongly recommend checking the contents of any product from Buyaparcel immediately upon delivery rather than assuming it is complete.
