Avoid this company like the plague
Avoid this company like the plague. I bought a skirt for £185.00 which split apart at the seams .. I assumed I had ordered the wrong size .. Brora sent a bigger size.. this skirt was slightly too big and a hole appeared at the back of the skirt once again.. after ONE wear.. I was absolutely horrified.. PLEASE do not buy from this company.. something really weird going on .. I fe completely conned and I am nearly £200.00 lighter with nothing to show for it. Horrible experience
Avoid,
I ordered a high-value item from Brora that was left in plain sight outside my home and promptly vanished. Despite this clear delivery failure, Brora refused to refund or replace it, and I had to go through my credit card for a refund. Shockingly poor customer care—avoid if you value your money or peace of mind.
Beautiful green liberty print dress
I recently purchased a green liberty print dress for a wedding and it looked amazing. So comfortable to wear and fitted perfectly. Thank you Brora.
Exceptional Quality I have bought a number of items from…
I have bought a number of items from Brora over the years. The quality has always been exceptional and oozes style and sophistication. I recently bought a Brora storage bag for my jumpers. It is strong and durable with a good three quarter zip. Being transparent, I can now see my beautiful Brora jumpers knowing they are fully protected.
Selective publishing of reviews
I purchased three items in the sale, totalling around £400. I was disappointed at the lack of reviews around the items as I usually find reviews helpful in working out the sizing as I am petite and am either 6 or 8 depending on the garment. Two of the items were totally unsuitable (too big/long) and I returned them. I thought it would be helpful to leave a review to inform other customers regarding sizing of one of the items(a coat that actually came down to my ankles!) so that anyone else who is 5' 2" would not waste their time. Anyway, guess what? They did not publish my review and this leads me to think that they may be filtering out any critical reviews which would explain the lack of reviews listed. This suggests to me that they only publish reviews that will help sell their products. The whole point of reviews is to inform customers on details of the garment to enable choice. Anyway, based on this, I will not be buying from them again as I only like trusted brands,
Brora is a forever addiction
Always look forward to each new season release from Brora, to see the regularly returning styles in new colours and the “quirkier” new items being released. From extra thick cashmere knits to maxi dresses and skirts, to silk and Liberty fabrics, to UK made wool coats and jackets, or tank tops in mohair or donegal, or beautiful fair-isle and lace cotton blouses…so much to tempt me.
Brora’s styles and colour stories are timeless to me and of great quality, clothing that I keep for years.
The clothing is well-cut and the fit is usually very good for my tall, long-limbed fuller frame. You can’t say that these days a lot about clothing.
The quality is reflected in the price and I have to pace myself, but that is what they call “slow-fashion”.
Although my troubled hearts likings do not know slow…
At least my lovely husband knows that a shopping spree to the Brora shop or a present online, must always be forgiven or condoned…
I love that a lot of their clothing is UK made or closer by in Europe, and something I regularly look for and appreciate when buying things, even secondhand (yes, I once found a Brora white cotton lace blouse in a charity shop - thank you, thank you).
The sales experience is very good and reliable and I do contact the team by email when ordering.
If I would have 1 remark, then I would suggest giving a % reduction and/ or free shipping with the next order as an option to the customer.
And I hope that Brora opens a shop in Winchester soon…
Brora Clothing
Prompt deliveries, well packaged. Brora offers a variety of styles, for women, men and children, contemporary with a classic feel. The fabrics are very good quality with a beautiful range of colours, prints and patterns.
I love Brora and their products
I love Brora and their products. Beautifully designed and well made, they last for ages. The styles are timeless with an interesting twist that holds the test of time. Always a pleasure to wear. I feel comfortable and well turned out wearing Brora.
I am magnetically drawn to anything made in the UK so there is much here to appeal to me. I find all clothes, from jumpers to blouses, trousers to skirts, all fit jolly well so I've never had to send anything back. A good thing as I don't have a shop near so solely online, for me. Customer service is professional and helpful whenever I've had a question. Shipping is swift and beautifully packaged.
A wonderful British company keeping traditional ways of manufacturing alive. That is an ethos I am very happy to support and will continue to. Thank you, Brora, for always bringing a smile to my face when I receive a parcel from you.
Lovely tank
Lovely colour, lovely design, nice quality
My usual size 16 was too big but size 14 fits me like a globe
Helpful customers service
Responsive customer service
I recently bought a pair of wrist warmers online and after the first wear there was some inner stitching that came undone. I was going to try and repair it myself but after prompting for a review of the product by Brora I figured I may as well let them know in case there is a quality issue. I was contacted by Brora customer services who asked me to please send the wrist warmers back to their workshop for mending. I was supplied pre-paid postage in order to send them in. I certainly was not expecting this but very pleased that I was contacted. I can see from previous reviews that some people have not had the same great experience - perhaps this is that start of a new era in getting the customer service in line with Brora's reputation of one of quality. Looking forward to many years of warm wrists!
GREENWASHING BUSINESS WHO USE POLYAMIDES AND CLEARLY DON'T VALUE THEIR CUSTOMERS
I bought a cardigan in the sale at £165 which had been close to £300. Lovely design and very soft - wore it and it felt a little sweaty. Oh!, to discover on the label that it is 35% polyamide - aka NYLON!!! Not only was I genuinely shocked, but I felt ripped off as Brora's website talks up their natural fibres, sustainability and local manufacturing and I trusted the brand to uphold this, so I didn't even look at the label instore. Polyamide is about as unsustainable as it gets - it is made from fossil fuels, is not biodegradable and is made in an energy-intensive process. Nowhere is this mentioned on their website - you have to go to individual products and delve down a layer to find info - and they call this transparent!!!
Customer service passed my complaint to the MD, and I had a patronising email from her (Victoria Stapleton) see below - you will notice she has avoided the question of polyamides completely - carefully avoiding using the word by saying they sometimes add a 'harder wearing fibre'. She never acknowledged my trust in the company and when I asked her why they use polyamides and don't mention this on their website, I got no further reply.
"If you are a regular Brora shopper you will know that the vast majority of our designs are made from natural fabrics and yarns, wool, cashmere, silk, organic cotton, linen etc. Sometimes for wearability, the yarn spinner will add a harder wearing fibre to make the yarn fit for purpose. We choose to only work with the best in class across all our yarn and fabric suppliers, choosing organic cotton, linen actually grown, spun, dyed, woven and stitched in Europe (very rare), tweeds from the UK, tailored in London etc.
We are also explicit on our website about where we make each product so there is total transparency for you the customer.
When we recently did a tally of everything we sold in AW, more than half of the units were actually made IN the UK, this is totally unique in our industry where most are making in China, Madagascar etc. We do have suppliers all over Europe too and are proud to work with exceptional ateliers who have the same code of conduct as ourselves"
A big thank you to Guildford store for…
A big thank you to Guildford store for helping me with an item I was looking for last minute before an event. Unable to get into the store, I was looking online but unsure of colours, etc. I called the store and Lisa helped me and arranged to parcel and post my item which arrived the next day. Great customer service and the item was absolutely perfect. Brora cashmere is always top quality.
great service
The product quality as always is good and the collect from store was simple and free! Staff both on phone and in-store as charming as ever.
The men’s section gets worse every…
The men’s section gets worse every year. They have abandoned the zip hoody’s. Also the dressing gowns. And the thick turtle necks. It’s sexist
Buyer beware
Buyer beware. If you make the effort to go to one of the few stores they still have open, they only give you 14 days for a refund, even though online purchases have an extended Christmas refund period until 10 January 2025. Husband just made 2hr return trip to store today and tried to return scarf he bought me for Christmas on 14 Dec 2024. Refused refund as ‘too late’ (14 days ended on 28 December 2024). There is no notice by the till in the shop stating the policy and the shop assistant did not make him aware of the returns policy when he purchased the scarf. Zero customer service and zero transparency on in-store returns.
Bruising customer service
I made a complaint about a pair of shoes that kept slipping off. Two other reviewers had made the same complaint. I had put protector on the shoes and worn them outside several times. I was very aware that this was outside the Brora returns policy. My first email was ignored. In response to my follow up email, rather than acknowledge a legitimate complaint, customer services suggested I sell the shoes on a third-party site if I wanted any money back. I posted a review on the Brora site but it was not published. I am more upset by the lack of customer service than by the shoes.
Customer’lack of’ service left me very upset
Ordered 3 pairs of earrings as Christmas gifts. One pair was faulty as the stones down the centre of one of the earrings were obviously shorter than on the other earring and I wouldn’t gift them anyone. They look very different to the image on the website. Policy says they issue a refund if the item is faulty however they choose to decide it isn’t faulty and act like they’re doing me a favour issuing a gift card as a ‘goodwill gesture’ when I should be getting a refund all day long! Apparently the ‘design team’ state that ‘ the pattern is mirrored as you can see by the website so both will not match but will mirror the design’. I don’t expect the pattern to be identical but I DO expect the stones to be the same length on both earrings. From my viewpoint this IS a fault. These earrings are selling for over a £100! If I could I would send all 3 pairs back as once this is hopefully resolved I will not deal with this company again. Their customer service is poor and the customer’s opinion clearly means nothing.
Tip to customers - if you’re sending a ‘faulty’ item back for a refund take photos first as this company will deny fault.
I wonder if they would use an image of the earrings I received to advertise them on their website? I think not.
Extremely high quality and excellent customer service 👏
Linen tshirts were of incredible quality and of elegant fit. Customer service was excellent, going beyond the call of duty. The gift packaging was first class.
Great Company. Terrible website.
I have made a number of purchases from Brora online and have consistently found their dispatch of orders, processing of returns and refunds to be speedy and prompt. Items are beautifully packaged. Returns are very easy and free of charge. I love their knitwear. It is beautifully warm without being bulky. However, this is just about the worst and most user unfriendly website that I have ever encountered.
bought a gilet
bought a gilet. i noticed loose yarns on the inside . then i saw a tiny label saying " Made in Czech Republic".
Yet Brora constantly emphasises it's "Made In Scotland "
asked for comments - was passed off with cut and paste about "our supply chain policy".
