Enjoyed experiences
My experience at Better leisure in Greenwich, has been good the trainers are all brilliant if your first time they explain the moves and also ask if anyone has any injury and show you the easier version. My only complaint is the cleanliness in some areas like the gym floors and showers with broken shower heads and cubicles.

The staff at Better have been amazing
The staff at Better have been amazing, everyone I've dealt with have always gone above and beyond to Try and help me, a man called Wayne took on my problem and you could just hear in his voice he really was trying to help me.. he really made my day, the customer service is perfect, I have absolutely no complaints. Lesson was great
Lesson was great.
The only cons: please explain at the beginning where kind should wait before and after the lesson, as Nestor was taken by me after the class, and after I was told I was not supposed to do that, teacher should bring me my kid.

I was a bit nervous at first about…
I was a bit nervous at first about joining the leisure centre but Sarah really put me at ease, showed me how to use the equipment and gave my confidence a huge boost to want to go back and continue. A huge thank you for improving my lifestyle.

Classes and instructors are the best…
Classes and instructors are the best feature of the gym. But they cancel classes often and at the last minute. The gym needs new machines and an update.

Plus and minus points
Good Points
The gym at The Greenwich Centre is reasonably well equipped. If you go at none peak times, there are only a few people working out - so you can use machines and free weights when you wish according to your routine.
The swimming pool is also very good. It’s divided into lanes so you can select your own pace. It’s reasonable clean. Although the other day I noticed hair grips on the bottom of the pool - which had been there a few days!
Bad Points
In the gym I never see any staff around - I tend to go during off peak times (afternoons). I’ve not seen anyone walk around. My induction was not good - just 1/2 hour and shown a few machines. Then told there are diagrams on the machines, so you can follow them. No discussion of free weights, or indeed if there is personal training, or if I could have my induction programme updated. It’s lucky I’ve been to gyms before, otherwise I wouldn’t know what to do.
Also water fountain in the gym is terrible. The water dribbles out, and it’s clearly not working properly/leaking water onto the carpet - but has remained unrepaired with a bucket under it! I take my own water with me.
The changing rooms for the men (called dry changing room) is like a school changing rooms - just a square with no privacy at all. The showers are ok. And there is only one working hairdryer.
In the wet changing room (shared amenities for men, women and children) using the swimming pool, there clearly is private changing facilities. However, even though you need to put on foot covers over your shoes when entering- no one seems to use them. I even spotted 3 members of staff and the manager walking around in regular trainers all the way through the wet room - so hygiene is very low on the list. I now wear sliders to the pool side due to this - really poor to be honest.
So I’ve rated it 3 stars based on the cost and equipment/pool. The staff seem disengaged, and none-existent in the gym. In terms of the pool, staff wander around aimlessly, and even the manager doesn’t follow the hygiene rules. Finally lockers in the pools are chargeable - only 20p but annoying when it takes your money and doesn’t operate - and of course no one on hand to resolved!

We are very sorry to hear that some areas of the centre were not to a high standard so I will pass this feedback onto the centre so these areas can be looked into and resolved. The centre will also look into the issues regarding the water fountain and the hygiene in the wet area. We pride ourselves on our excellent customer services and facilities so we are disappointed to hear that is not the service you have received so far. Through feedback we can identify the areas where we fall short and we hope to improve on this.
