Gay Matchmakers from hell
I found this service online and sent over my information, curious to learn more. Finding a good matchmaker for LGBTQIA is quite challenging, and I felt encouraged because they advertise themselves as quality matchmakers for executives, which I needed.
Once they had my information, Teresa was very insistent on arranging my meeting with Carol, the head matchmaker.
The pressure wore down, and I ended up meeting with Carol. I spent over 1 hour with her talking her through what I was looking for, and she reassured me that it would not be tough to find perfect matches. She asked me to take a "leap of faith.” I did; I paid $5,000—a lot of money.
I will not bore you with all the details, just with the outcomes. This relationship started in 2018 and ended in 2021. Unfortunately, they did not fulfill their contract in terms of dates.
- I was matched with people who were not what I had described to the point that, while browsing the apps, I found one of the women I went out with, and she described herself as a "player.”
- Once Teresa asked me to go on a date with someone as a "favor" because this person hadn't had a positive experience so far and, since I was “a great person,” they wanted to give her a good experience. This was a free date on the house. I knew she didn't match what I was looking for, so I wasn't heartbroken. However, I don’t know how she’d feel if she knew she paid for that date.
- They failed to mention that one of the dates was divorced; not a dealbreaker but something that even the apps note.
- Teresa and Carol went for periods of 9+ months without reaching out or offering any updates.
- Twice, I reached out expressing the desire to quit their service because of the low quality of the matching or because they hadn't been in touch and, magically, they offered more dates.
Overall this was one of the worst services I used in my life, and I hope that nobody uses them in the future. All they say to lure you into signing is lip service.
I asked for a partial reimbursement because they did not match me with the number of people they promised. They denied it.
Stay away—a complete waste of time. If you are looking for great matchmakers that specialize in queer matching, I recommend TDR or H4M.
