Slow, Slow, Slow!
I am still in the process of selling my flat, the buyer has no chain and I have no chain.

It's a new build less than 3 years old so all the paperwork and documents are in order.

I was told It will take 40ish days. It has taken 5 months.

When my solicitor (Sarah) went on holiday (twice) everything stopped! I was told "emails would be monitored"!

I have had to chase and send duplicate documents and been left in limbo for weeks on end with emails being ignored.

For your own sanity steer clear.

Update - See below the reply from the CEO, the complaint was already raised via the mortgage broker, and received an email full of excuses. Also, was told to lodge a formal complaint, for what to be passed around and not receive an apology? waste of time. ---
This firm quotes excluding VAT to make themselves look better against others. But beware, is not cheaper and if anything the service provided is substandard.
Deborah the person handling my case had to be chased several times before getting any replies, she also misunderstood the mortgage offer and was confused with the final balances and we ended up having to pay additional fees. In addition, the process was over a month delayed because these people do not communicate with customers or third parties and simply sit and wait. This caused additional interest fees in my case. I would highly NOT recommend this firm especially since customers seem to be more of a pain than their source of income. They treat you like a second-class citizen and make the process more stressful and lengthy than needs to be. Also, complaints about their service are not taken seriously by either their team or managing directors. Shame really, compared to other solicitor experiences in the past this is a DO NOT USE!

Absolutely appalling service from Bennett Oakley.

From start to finish they made our house purchase a thousand times more stressful and difficult than it needed to be. We had to chase them hundreds of times for any response, then whenever they did get back to us they refused to actually give any helpful advice or guidance. Sarah would just copy and paste the same thing in her emails, completely ignoring our questions.

They lost all of our signed documents that we posted them weeks before completion, and only noticed and let us know on the Friday, when we were due to complete on the Monday. They also only sent our completion statement on the Friday afternoon, even after weeks of chasing. When we received the completion statement, we discovered that they had charged us over £700 more than what they originally quoted us, and gave us NO prior warning that we were expected to pay this extra cost - if we did not have extra money set aside our purchase would have fallen through at the last minute. Their poor and unprofessional service only adds insult to injury.

Friendly and expert advice which was easy to follow. Overall an extremely smooth and efficient process.

Absolutely horrendous, terrible service. No communication, they refuse to take calls. They will advise you incorrectly and you will have to pay unnecessary costs.

I strongly advise you research and find a solicitor that can deal with your needs with professionalism and customer care.

Some members of the team are arrogant without the experience to back it up.

Find another solicitor or regret it massively.

The service I received was both prompt and efficient.

AVOID at all costs - NEGLIGENT solicitors!! Specifically LUCY BROUWER! Tried charging us additional £2,000!! For a deed of variation that we DID NOT NEED! We have completed in 4 weeks with our new solicitors LPL REED ROPER AND REED and WITHOUT the need of a deed of variation which LUCY threatened we needed!!!! Use LPL if you want a genuine solicitor who is going to get the job done and not pocket your money!

She also threatened us ADDITIONAL FEES for speaking to OUR LENDER!

She held on to money that should have been forwarded straight away to relevant persons and DELAYED MATTERS SIGNIFICANTLY!

Our mortgage broker were appauled as they recommended them! I've told them not to recommend them to their customers in future unless they want to be out of business too!

Bennett and oakley nearly cost us our mortgage deal offer!

There was too much negligence that occurred and I will be taking this further!

I had confidence that Bennet Oakley, in particular Charlotte, would deal with me efficiently and pleasantly particularly since I had used this firm before when buying a house
