The bronze plan is a rip off, it covers virtually ZERO. When I call Blue Cross for providers they suggest the website. The website suggest calling Blue Cross. The bronze plan offers nothing but zero coverage. Blue cross used to be a good company. Now they barely deserve 1 star
BCBS Texas has been incredibly difficult to deal with. Their customer service is frustrating, and representatives often talk in circles rather than answering basic questions clearly. Getting someone on the phone who can actually understand and address the issue has also been a challenge.
My primary care provider has had repeated problems submitting referrals to BCBS Texas. Their portal does not update properly when referrals are sent. I have called multiple times, and BCBS keeps insisting that my doctor’s office must not understand how referrals work. Meanwhile, the specialists the referrals were sent to received them a month ago, so the issue clearly appears to be on BCBS’s side.
Their provider directory is also unreliable. The BCBS Texas website lists several of my doctors as in-network, but every one of those doctors has told me they have not been in-network for a long time. As a result, I make appointments based on BCBS’s own website and then have to fight with them when their information turns out to be wrong.
The service is terrible, and their provider portal is so inaccurate that it feels misleading. I selected my plan based on the information BCBS Texas provided, and almost none of it has turned out to be true. I am paying $985 per month and still spending hours every month trying to get care covered based on information they advertised.
Sadly negative numbers are not available. I had cancer and had initially beat it. So I had been good for about 8 years. Now its coming back and so I had a cancer screening to make sure i had no major cancer in my bones, organs or lymph nodes. BCBS charges me $700 a month from my retirement and I haven't filed a claim in 4 years. So I filed to get reimbursed on this screening and was denied. How do you deny a person who had cancer and its returning to pay for a screening to determine status of the health?
These people are bloodsuckers. Horrible, worthless people. If you have a choice in insurance do not make the mistake of selecting BCBS of Texas. Nothing but corporate blood suckers. They ran rot in hell.
Can I give zero stars and still be credible? If you want poor claim administration, sloppy work, and denied claims based on undisclosed, non-accessible criteria, this is the place for you.
Add to that poorly written denial letters that do not even reflect the policies they reference.
Bluecross blueshield of Texas is the worst insurance I ever had. Oscar insurance was way better than Bluecross and that says a lot. They don't cover mental health prescription, they denied my medical claim. Even showing proof I was on my medication prior to switching from Oscar to them. They lied saying it will not be a problem for me to get my PA approved. Now I'm struggling trying to find ways to get my hands on my medications. Please do not go with Bluecross blueshield of texas.
The insurance commission needs to fine this company for lack of consumer assistance the service reps cannot answer basic questions and it can take being on hold for 45mins . I am an insurance agent and will file a complaint with the Texas insurance commission.
Terrible customer service you can never get to a representative. Hold time for call over 30 minutes.
In just a few short months, I have experienced the highest levels of dysfunction, and the most incompetent of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas employees, imaginable. Today, a simple question about coverage, was turned into a 45 minute conversation (hardly) with a brain-dead, grossly incompetent, employee of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas. Ladies, if you had an episiotomy, and you think that was painful, try, instead, engaging with a Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas customer service (hardly, such an oxymoron), in an otherwise simple conversation.
The icing on the cake for me, was, after 45 minutes of pain, my request to speak to a supervisor was denied, on the basis that "our supervisors do not speak with members."
I am left no recourse than to write a letter to the President and Chief Medical Officer of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, and to file a formal, written complaint with the Texas Department of Insurance. Here are the ways to do that:
Google, "Texas Department of Insurance, file a complaint about a health insurer." Go to that website, and file a complaint.
