1★ – Very frustrating experience with online order & customer service

I had a really disappointing experience with Bass Pro Shops Canada (basspro.ca) trying to purchase a Mercury 9.9 outboard that was listed on sale.

The website clearly showed the motor as available and allowed me to go through the full checkout process, including entering all my information and selecting ship-to-store. After that, everything fell apart. I was told conflicting information from multiple sources, and no one seemed to take ownership of the issue.

The store told me to contact customer support. Customer support told me to speak with the Abbotsford store manager. I was also told I would receive a callback from the store—which never happened. I just kept getting the runaround with no resolution.

In the end, they would not honour the sale price, even though the listing error was clearly on their website. That’s extremely frustrating as a customer who acted in good faith. Because of all the delays and confusion, it also ended up impacting a fishing trip my son and I had planned. If I had known this would happen, I could have gone to another store from the beginning and avoided the whole situation.

To make matters worse, communication just stopped altogether—my emails eventually went unanswered, and the item was removed from the website shortly after. From my perspective, that only added to the frustration and lack of transparency.

On top of that, email responses felt generic and impersonal, like they were generated by AI, which didn’t help address the actual issue or provide any real support.

Overall, this experience left me feeling like they don’t stand behind their advertised pricing or value their customers’ time. I expected better from a major outdoor retailer.

Very disappointed.

Ordered a pizza oven. It arrived late & it was obviously either returned damaged not in its original box, or was damaged extensively in the warehouse. The box looked like it was taped up via a kindergarten class. The oven was dented up an lot, inside & out. There was no knob, no manual, the lid wouldn’t shut properly, & the gas line wasn’t aligned properly. UC we had used it, it would have blown us up. And because of no knob, no manual, & the way it was packaged, this was not done via shipping. It was done at Bass Pro Shop & shipped this way. Absolutely the worse ordering experience I’ve ever experienced.

I was looking to replace a reel. Julian was my sales representative. I told him what I wanted. He asked me a lot of questions. He showed me many models despite the fact that stock was low. Finally I saw a model I liked. It was a bit more then I wanted to spend but I got what I wanted. Thank you Julian.

I had a very frustrating experience trying to pick up a firearm order at Bass Pro Shops. I recently moved, and my driver’s license still shows my old address. I brought my valid government-issued photo ID along with my current vehicle registration showing my updated physical address.

Bass Pro’s own pickup instructions say that if the address on your photo ID does not match your current residential address, you may be required to provide a second form of government-issued documentation with your current physical address, such as a vehicle registration, voter ID card, concealed carry permit, hunting license, etc.

That is exactly what I brought. My driver’s license was my photo ID, and my vehicle registration was the supplemental proof of current address. However, the employee/manager still turned me away and acted like I was trying to use the registration as a photo ID, which was not the case.

To make it even more frustrating, I contacted several other local firearm shops afterward, and they all said that a valid driver’s license plus current vehicle registration is acceptable for this situation. So it appears this was either a misunderstanding by the store or an overly restrictive store decision that was not clearly explained.

I understand firearm sales require strict compliance, and I respect that. But customers should not be turned away when they bring the exact type of documentation Bass Pro’s own instructions say may be used. The process was confusing, poorly handled, and wasted my time.

Very disappointing experience.

Visited recently. The store felt stale and unwelcoming. Employees didn't seem engaged or happy to be there. I also tried reaching out to the business about an issue and got no response for two weeks – had to call myself to get anywhere. Disappointing all around.

Horrible customer care- after numerous years of having a credit card with this company with excellent credit rating they cancel my card for none use for 22 months. I lose my points - everything. Don’t trust this company.

Ordered a 2300.00 deer stand still waiting to get my order 15 days late and their customer service is the worse customer service ever don’t waste your money go somewhere that appreciates their customers and by all means stay away from muddy deer blinds they use 3 rate shippers like ABF who will drop it off to a fly by night service that can’t seem to get a delivery done

I order some ammo trough website and received package that was open and someone stole ONE BULLET (1) from one package, I am very very much surprised with this , I send them message on Facebook but they did not respond.

I had an outstanding visit to Bass Pro Shops in Atlantic City, and it was made truly special by the service I received from Chuck.
As a veteran myself, it was a profound pleasure to be assisted by a fellow veteran. There is a level of mutual respect and understanding that you only find within the community, and Chuck’s competence and recognition meant a lot to me. He helped me find the perfect pair of binoculars with expert knowledge, and the personal connection we shared made the purchase even more meaningful.
I want to express my sincere appreciation for the way Bass Pro Shops supports the veteran community. Seeing a company that provides veterans with a platform to build a career, grow, and strengthen their professional lives is inspiring. It makes me proud to support a business that genuinely treats those who served with such high regard.
After my experience with Chuck, I spent some time exploring the store and ended up buying several extra items. The atmosphere is incredibly motivating, and knowing that my money goes to a company that values veterans makes me a customer for life.
To the management: Chuck is a phenomenal asset to your team. Give that man the highest praise possible!

I bought a Kool Splash inflatable water slide from them. within a week of use the right sprinkler stopped working. I returned it and they only refunded me $62 of the $128 I paid for it for a restocking fee!

I called the Centerville, Ohio store today, 4/23/26 to check availability for a specific type of trolling motor for my boat. I talked with Kloe in customer service who seemed to be extremely busy at the time. After some back and forth with her checking with the fishing department and the internet with the SKU # ! provided, she took my phone # and said she'd call later with definite info. She did call some time later in the evening & said they had what I was looking for in stock, so I asked her to hold it for me. I drove an hour to the store and when I went in to check at the Customer Service desk, the item was sitting there on a cart waiting for my purchase. Excellent job and service. I thank the little lady for going above and beyond for my need. Thank you very much. Jack J.

Just witnessed a man with an intellectual disability being aggressively upsold on a $10 warranty for his $20 pup tent. He didn’t have a phone number for his warranty so they just asked him “for any phone number”.

I was told by a manager this would be addressed, but it is what it is - had I not brought it to their attention this guy would have been charged an extra 50%, and he even agreed to round up his payment to the next dollar for charity. How about you just give him your crappy $20 tent so you can sleep at night? At least now he’ll be able to.

Edit; I see this store is soliciting good reviews via a QR code given to customers who they have positive interactions with - I would like to commend the older guy in the power chair who chatted me up regarding smoker woods, he was cool. I’d like to condemn the other guy (younger) also in a power chair who was training a new employee in predatory sales practices.

I would appreciate a reply to this review, I wasn’t given a QR code card to leave a kind review, and that’s a major red flag to me that they ask people to leave these, they aren’t unsolicited at the very least… I don’t think I’ll be coming back, they clearly aren’t trained in how to recognize someone who shouldn’t be predated on, let alone sell them a weapon etc.

In the sales pitch, the man was told that the warranty “covers bullet holes” to his tent which is also absolutely incredible to infer to an unhoused person. Check your footage

I went to the store to buy a fishing reel..... and the guy in that department was great. BUT when I checked out, the cashier demanded that I give her my phone number in order to get a reciept for my purchase! DEMANDED!

This was at the store in Spanish Fort AL

When I declined, her and another employee got really ugly about it. SO I left without a reciept.... and will never EVER shop with this company again.

It was a horrible experience. I will never go back to bass pro shop. The works at the hunting section were super rude and not helpful at lot. The manager was even worse, He was extremely disrespectful.

I believe that I would not have bought sandals without her assistance.
On the way out, Inez was so friendly, she made me feel appreciated that I was at Bass in Spanish Fort, Alabama!

They don't respond to emails to their customer service address, not at all. That's my beef with them DIRECTLY. But they own Cabela's and I bought a gun from Cabela's. Cabela's sent it to the wrong FFL, far, far away from me. Once they had my $, Cabela's quit responding to emails asking them to make it right. I called them on the phone and they said somebody would get back to me but nobody ever did. That's on Cabela's but taking the problem to the parent company should at least get a polite response. I got nothing. After 2 weeks, I finally just reversed the CC charges.
I will never do biz with Basspro or any company they own again.

They have the worst online shipping. They offer expedited 2 day shipping. Then it ends up taking 4-7 days.

I purchased a Sig Sauer Romeo Zero red dot from Bass Pro Shops on February 15th, 2026 and it was delivered to me on February 19th, 2026. Unfortunately, the footprint of the red dot did not fit my pistol, and I contacted Bass Pro Shops regarding a return. It took three calls for a representative to respond back with return instructions until I called again on February 25th, 2026, and was told they would have to send me a Hazmat sticker for the tiny battery that sits in the red dot that may take 4 business days to receive. I was then told it would take approximately 5 weeks for the return to be processed. All that, and I have to pay return shipping out of pocket. I will never shop at Bass Pro Shops ever again and will be sure to tell my family and friends, too.

We and my family went into bass pro shop restaurant at rancho Cucamonga. Service was terrible. We made reservations for my son's B day. They even asked if we were celebrating anything. So when we arrived we reminded our server we have a Bday she said ok. Food was good, however our appetizers came after our meal arrived. SERIOUSLY. Then at end nothing, when I asked about Bday they said we don't do anything. THEN SAY THAT AT RESERVATIONS., or server could have. I'll take my money elsewhere in the future.
