We are an independent group who have been caring for eyes for over 68 years. Established in 1957 by Frank Barraclough in St. Leonards and later joined by Peter Stiles, we gained a reputation founded on expertise combined with a kind and helpful manner.
Investing in the latest technology and equipment such as OCT imaging and Optomap® retinal scanning and keeping the practices modern and up to date has all helped in passing the 65 year milestone.
However, a significant contribution has been made by the people working in the company and a large proportion of our staff have been with us for many years enabling them to build excellent relationships with our clients. We're proud of the solid reputation we have built up over the years and will continue to deliver the very best possible service when it comes to eye care and customer care.

Great experience in the Seaford branch
Great experience in the Seaford branch. You just knew that you were with professionals who knew their business. I saw Mrs Baxter who was wonderful then I was passed to the delightful Sam who made giving me the final bill slightly better all due to his fabulous personality. So yes if you are looking for a new optician and you live in Seaford look no further. I’m sure there are cheaper ones and more expensive ones but I am also sure you would get no better service anywhere. They are your eyes, your most precious eyes and they deserve the best!!

I experienced a sudden visual issue in…
I experienced a sudden visual issue in one eye . After contacting the practice , reception ran through some check questions and I was then given a prompt appointment.I then received a comprehensive examination, the problem was identified, the reason explained and reassurance given .Excellent service from the whole team and a very satisfied patient , thankyou..

Glad I chose Barraclough's. From the first call to your Polegate…
From the first call to your Polegate branch on 7/10/ to the same day prompt attention given by the Eastbourne branch I have been listened to and looked after extremely well. I was reassured and everything was explained to me. I felt cared for and have complete trust in the person who examined me. The lady who helped me to decide on new frames was patient and helpful.

Thorough examination and great service
I have been using Barracloughs for many years now. I always trust the thorough eye examination and consultation. Very positive experience from the welcome into the branch, the examination itself and then the consultation regarding the frames. Looking forward to receiving my new prescription with my funky new frames. Would recommend.

Very nice staff in the branch. Bhavin the optometrist was very pleasant with a very friendly manner even though he was professional throughout. The lady that I dealt with after the eye examination was also very nice & even tried the Lens manufacturer to see if my current glasses were still under guarantee. No pressure to buy anything there and then either. Excellent service thank you very much
