Two things bugged me last night in Ask Epsom. First I ask for a sparkling water and they bring my a 750ml bottle even though they did sell smaller ones. They did not ask, they just bring the most expensive and secondly, I do not like restaurants that add a tip without asking. I am a good tipper and I often tip cash, so why add it on then make it awkward to remove it.

I’ve ordered 2 vegan pizza (buy one and get one for free) and an vegetarian calzone. I’ve been charged for twice, full price of their pizza and I received salami calzone instead of the vegetarian one plus all the food is really cold. Outside is warmer than the food I received. Shame on me if I’ll order again from you.

Ordered a home delivery through Just Eat as a treat for my young clients. 2 items were fine, however the lasagne was the poorest excuse for a lasagne I've ever seen. There was NO bechamel sauce at all and it looked like a few sheets of lasagne were thrown with a spoon of bolognaise sauce, it was dry and tasteless. Thankfully my calzone was big enough to share. When I called and asked for a proper lasagne to be sent the lady said the recipe had changed and all we could do was ask for a refund from Just Eat.

The waitress then said it’s against the law !!
What law ?

I am back in England and she is there with her family from Brazil and they say this

I called and asked to talk to the waitress as soon as she herd I was scottish she said she’s going to lose her job

Sorry it’s not on it really isn’t on . This is discrimination and Iam appalled that my fellow country people allow this to happen in restaurants . Am disgusted with this and will be taking this further.

Disgraceful

I bought 3 calzone pizzas for £55. Pizzas arrived cold and without any sos. I don’t recommend it.

Ask - Taunton
My husband and I booked a table at Ask Taunton for a pre Christmas lunch Friday 20th December. On arriving at the restaurant we immediately notice heaters dotted around and asked the front of house why - he explained the heating was not working and the mobile heaters had been issued by head office - several people were eating with their coats and hats on, we did contemplate leaving but decided to stay as our many previous experiences of this venue had been nothing but positive. This booking was however to be the worst we have ever experienced !! There was probably only 6 tables occupied around the restaurant but it took nearly 15 minutes for the waitress to even ask our drinks order, the 3 members of staff seemed more interested in cleaning tables than serving new customers. We ordered our drink and food, and our wine and starters arrived quite promptly, however our mains seemed to take forever, it was a good 30mins wait. When our pizza finally did arrive, my husbands was on a 'marble effect' plate and was stone cold ! Goodness knows how, there were only 3 tables occupied by this time and its a specialist pizza restaurant !! My husband was not happy to say the least and so we called a male member of staff over The conversations went as follows
My husband said "Sorry mate but this pizza is cold"
The mans reply was "Right" - then he just stood there - not offering any interest at all
My husband then said again "This pizza is cold"
The man replied "And what exactly do you want me to do about it"
We were both gobsmacked and looked at each other dumfounded
My husband then said "errr I'd like you to replace it with a hot pizza if it not too much trouble"
The man's reply in a sarcastic tone was "and that’s exactly what I was going to suggest if you'd give me a chance"
My husband then said "I think your attitude is out of order mate, we are the customers, and you have served us cold food"
The man then said "there's only one person here with an attitude mate and its not me"
At this point my husband was incredulous and wrongly reacted by saying "f*** off" - This was not directed at the member of staff, it was said in disbelief that a someone is hospitality would dream of speaking to a member of the public like that.
Trying to calm the situation down, I said "I think it best if you just take both pizzas back"
The man looked at me and said "you both need to leave now or I'm calling the police"
I then said "and I think I need to speak to your manager"
He then shouted "I AM THE MANAGER" and walked away. The whole restaurant went silent and looked at us. We have never been so shocked and embarrassed. I am still reeling this morning that a manager of a well known restaurant chain would behave in such a despicable manner. We immediately put on our coats to leave - leaving our food and half a bottle of unfinished wine. We approached the waitress who had been lovely throughout and attempted to pay £40 for the starters and wine we had consumed but she refused to take the money. She was nearly in tears apologising for the way we had been treated and spoken to. I asked where the normal manager, who in our previous experience as also been lovely, was but she said he was not available and this man was the 'GM' - assume that is a General Manager. I felt so sorry for her I was reluctant to leave her, the man is an obvious bully. My husband and I are in our 50s, we have never been treated in such an appalling way by anyone in hospitality - it was really very upsetting. We have vowed never to enter another Ask Italian again

Had a fantastic meal at the Merry Hill restaurant. The staff were so helpful and accommodating. We were a group of six ladies, we were offered seating so we were comfortable. The meals were fresh and hot, the serving staff attentative, the deserts fantastic. The atmosphere was relaxed, we really enjoyed our outing and experience, thankyou. Would definitely eat there again, I enjoyed better than other askitalian restaurants I have eaten at before.

Brilliant food choice and quality topped off by the consistent,friendly excellent service from Lee and his team at Ask Durham.
Keep up the good work we appreciate you.

Came in at 3pm on Saturday with my partner and her two children having booked. One table was occupied. We were greeted by a man who was looking somewhere else as he said something to us. I said "were you speaking to us?" Not sure what he replied. He directed us to a table a foot away from the till and bar staff entrance. I asked if we could be moved. I said I felt too close to the till and bar (we would've been walked past about 10 times a minute). I suggested a table nearby (still in an area that looked filthy as it hadn't been cleaned or tidied after what had obviously been a party. It looked like a bomb had gone off!).
"That's been booked" said the complete idiot. I replied that I had booked too! Reluctantly we were seated there. By now I wanted to leave badly and go to Pizza Express, also horrible but maybe not quite as much so.
Hilariously, soon after our food came some off duty (I assume) staff came and sat at the table I'd declined and scoffed what looked like a large amount disgusting Greggs food!!😂
The rest went ok, the food was ok, I wanted two more Proseccos but no one was around or looking at us but finally I attracted someone's attention. This was my first visit in a long time as even 10 years ago it was staffed by people who looked as though they hated being there and were jealous of the customers who could afford the ridiculous prices.
A good idea would be to pay decent older experienced staff who enjoy working in the industry.
I'll never ever eat in this or any one of these awful places again.

Booked a meal for Saturday evening for the family and the 1st choice starter of prawn cocktail sold out. 1st choice main of lasagne also sold out. Opted for fondue stater and cheese not melted, sea bass for main which was smaller than a sardine..should of gone to Bella...

Edinburgh Saturday evening, not busy - Poor service - a starter was cold - delaying start of our meal for 4. 2/4 mains arrived (with a side not ordered …), with sides for the other two mains - but not the mains. We complained and the situation was eventually resolved satisfactorily. The food, when it arrived, was delicious. Valentina, the manager was very polite and effective in sorting out the mess for us - thank you! So, overall, a mixed experience and hence the 3 star rating.

Birmingham. Great food. Al forno mushrooms - what a starter. Main courses - wonderful. Great service and lovely staff (thanks Matt). Enjoyed every moment of our evening.

I went to ask Italian Beckenham I had the starter with the king prawns and was obvious the rest of the starter had been nuked to death in a microwave by the singed burn marks on the plate, the prawns tasted like they were out of date, the rest of he meal was ok but drowned in oil, go to pizza express or zizzi instead which is a lot better, shame as the staff were lovely. Employ some actual COOKS

went to ask Italian today at Bluewater the staff were very helpful and friendly no issues with them but the food was horrible! The margarita pizza we had was tasteless. The base was soft and dough and undercooked no seasoning the carbonara was again tasteless. No seasoning couldn’t really taste anything, too coffees and a bottle of water for £57 absolute joke! no Italian would go anywhere near this place!

I ordered a takeaway from Ask in Stamford. I usually eat in the restaurant and am always pleased with the service and food so was expecting a good meal. I was disappointed as it wasn’t to their usual high standard. I contacted Ask to make them aware of this. I received an email to inform me that my complaint was being handled. A week later I received an e voucher for a generous amount. I am very pleased with the way my complaint was handled and I am hoping when I use my e voucher at the restaurant that I will be writing a great review about the food instead of a complaint. Thank you

The lights at Ask Italian were constantly flickering for the entire time we were there. To make things worse we tried to tell the manager about this but, when we asked her she just ignored us and served us our food. The customer service was terrible and many other people in the restaurant had to move tables because of the lights (still the manager didn’t seem to care). Never coming back here again and the food was alright. However I must mention that there was a very kind young waitress who was trying her best to help us but our overall experience was very poor.

Very small portions at a very high price. Party of 18 all with Blue Light Cards were refused the discount. 1 meal brought out stone cold. 1 meal substituted without being asked first, 1 meal had a pasta substituted without explaination and 1 meal had a key ingredient missing. Some sides were brought out 5 to 10 mins before the main. Most of the puddings were not available.
Service charge and 1 meal was deducted from the bill as recompense but as we all paid separately using the prices on the menu, minus £2 per person, Ask Italian definitely got the better deal for a very poor service!

A bit disappointing. Lovely ambience and staff were very pleasant but did have to request things more than once and service was slow. Maybe more staff needed or existing with a little more vim.
Was asked if I wanted to keep my starters cutlery to use for my main course !!!!! No thank you.
The seafood pasta was a bit lacking in the seafood. One mussel, four empty shells. Four clams but only one open so the others have to be discarded. Four prawns and some squid, plenty of pasta though. Won't be in a rush to come back.

Ordered take out, the chicken and chips and corgetti fries enticed by the free pizza. Chicken was so tough I had to saw through it, it was is in a soggy batter, chips were okay but some clearly not cooked the corgetti fries were a soggy mess. Clearly the food was just taken out of freezer and microwaved!!! The free pizza resembled a £1 frozen pizza from Iceland. Overall a very poor and very expensive experience Will never use again.
