I’ve been with Ameriprise and RiverSource since the early 2000s, and I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone seeking responsive, client-centered service.

My experience has been marked by a recurring cycle of mismanagement, contradictory advice, and increasingly dismissive treatment that no client should have to endure.

I’ve been trying to transfer an annuity for years. Every time I try again, I’m met with lost paperwork, conflicting advice (different answers every time I call), and forms that feel like booby traps. These forms are not fillable, and Ameriprise’s digital infrastructure is far behind industry standards. The process is exhausting and opaque. Eventually, I have to give up—only to repeat the cycle again later when I work up the courage.

Most recently, I was treated with outright disrespect by a customer service rep. It was the final straw. Ameriprise’s priority is clear: keep your money under their management, no matter how poorly they treat you.

If you're just starting out, think carefully before committing. If you're a legacy client like me, you're not alone in your frustration.

I've been an Ameriprise client and paid yearly for advisory services, trusting that my advisor and the company would act in my best interest-as they are both legally and ethically obligated to do. Unfortunately, that did not happen. When I decided to move my IRA to a new company, I personally called my advisor out of respect, as we had always had a great working relationship and I genuinely trusted her. Even so, Ameriprise handled my transfer extremely poorly. They sent my IRA funds through regular mail- no tracking number, no overnight delivery, and no communication. The new transfer paperwork that my new company submitted clearly included an option for overnight mai., yet Ameriprise chose not to use it and now claims that no one requested or authorized it. I was never contacted to confirm my preference-I absolutely would have paid for overnight or a wire transfer. To make matters worse, after the transfer was initiated, I was informed that I "no longer had an advisor", even though I had paid a full year of advisory service and we were only six months into that term.I want to note I never submitted paperwork to close my account-I was simply transferring funds at this time. It is unbelievable that a financial institution would send a client's retirement funds through regular, untracked mail. The lack of accountability, communication and care shown throughout this process is unacceptable. It's clear that Ameriprise only values clients as long as their money remains with them - the moment you move your funds, they stop caring.

First their website is a damn disaster everytime I turn around I have another website problem. I can never just sign in without problems. They never get back to you to fix problems and if you have a problem they want you to walk them through it so they can fix it. The company itself sucks but my advisor is good. Only thing is him keeping me with Ameriprise. Problems are on going!!!!!

Ameriprise Financial is the WORST. They only recommend and push you into their internal products, the people are extremely aggressive, and do not care about your wishes or how you would like to invest. They are sketchy as hell and I wish I had never heard of them. Dealing with them has been a complete disaster. It would not surprise me at all if they are found to have illegal and fraudulent business practices, based on how their financial advisors behave. My experience over the past 5 years has been horrific and traumatizing. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

I strongly caution anyone against trusting Ameriprise with their money. After moving abroad a few years ago, Ameriprise began harassing me to close my account — but made it impossible to do so from outside the U.S.

They blocked me from making changes to my account, refused to help me sell my stocks, wouldn't let me add a (U.S.) bank account, and insisted the only way to withdraw funds was to send a paper check to a U.S. address — even though I don’t live there.

I’ve traveled back to the U.S. three times just to try to close my account. Each time, Ameriprise created new hurdles. I finally managed to sell all my stocks, but they still blocked me from withdrawing my funds. They demanded a three-week verification period for a new bank account — even after I called from the U.S., verified my identity, and offered to conference in my bank to speed it up. Then they simply deleted my new bank details — for the third time.

Their online system is outdated, messages get no responses, there’s no confirmation of submissions, and you can’t call them from abroad. It feels impossible to get real help unless you are physically in the U.S.

Ameriprise’s systems are decades behind the rest of the world. I've lived in 11 countries across Africa and Asia without ever facing issues like this. Ameriprise is by far the worst financial institution I’ve dealt with — outdated, unresponsive, and completely lacking customer support. I deeply regret ever trusting them with my money. Stay clear of this awful business.

Scrivo questa recensione per smascherare un nuovo tentativo di truffa, sicuramente lo step successivo a quello di Ameriprise, società clone utilizzata dai truffatori per riuscire nel loro tentativo:
sono appena stata contattata da un numero mobile, si è presentato come Mario Sarno, della Financial Conduct Autority per dirmi che ci sono dei Bitcoin a me intestati, e che facendomi scaricare un’app mi può aiutare a trasformare questi Bitcoin in euro; questa è un’ulteriore truffa, sono gli stessi truffatori…mi ha chiamata da un numero mobile +366 che ora ho già cancellato, e mi ha successivamente tentato di videochiamare da un numero con prefisso inglese per fare in modo che la società risulti effettivamente inglese, il numero è ‪+44 7360 356589‬.
Ho bloccato tutto, ho segnalato anche il numero a whatsapp;
non potendo inserire link, vi scrivo il titolo di un video che spiega molto bene l’ennesima truffa in questione, e a parlare è un’avvocato penalista: ‪Contattati dalla FCA (Financial Conduct Authority).

purtroppo sono cascato nella truffa e ci ho sment circa 7000 euro. ora vogliono che ne veri 4815 per ridarmente 10000. Non ero consapevole di dovermi fermare al vip 2. Sto cercando un avvocato.

Anch'io sono cascata in questi truffatori! Metti mi piace per 21 compiti , Con diversi livelli ( Vip 1 Vip 2 Vip 3 ) Dopo essere passata vip 3 HO versato quasi 5400 per diversi miei sbagli ,ora ne vogliono 2500 per riavere indietro il mio capitale ( Ovviamente le ho fatto presente che non verso nulla se non ho una sicurezza) Mi hanno lasciato il loro contatto , È la documentazione della loro azienda. Ma non mi fido ugualmente!!

Ho letto le recensioni e mi sono fermata a vip2...attenzione...ci sono vari modi x truffare soldi...io ho avuto esperienze con 2..ci ho rimesso un po' di soldi..cambiano sempre tattiche...non offrono nessun lavoro...vogliono svuotare i conti..

ho denunciato ameriprise per avermi sottratto migliaia di euro dove secondo loro avevo fatto degli errori sui compiti e bonifici, se erano gente seria bastava aver incassato i soldi e aver notato il mio nome e cognome, i carabinieri dicono che se individuono i responsabili si può aprire una causa e riavere i soldi

Buongiorno gente sono riuscita a non farmi truffare sono arrivata a vip 2 senza investire un euro di tasca mia e quando oggi mi volevano far passare a tutti i costi a vip 3 li ho gostati portandomi a casa la bellezza di 120 euro li ho anche segnalati per truffa mi dispiace solo per le persone che credono in sta gente del cavolo alla fine siamo tutti truffati fanno mandare soldi tra di noi e loro fanno questo gioco per arrivare a svuotarti il conto basta dirgli addio al momento giusto! Fate molta attenzione

Attenzione, leggete gli altri commenti e ascoltateli (i commenti non le chat di ameriprise).

Ho avuto a che fare con uno di alcuni di questi truffatori, non solo Ameriprise, potete fare pagamenti finché resterete nel VIP2, quando vi chiederanno di passare al VIP3 smettete di rispondere, così vi riuscirete a portare a casa il doppio di quello che avete speso (io personalmente quelli guadagnati li ho dati in beneficienza perché sono soldi sporchi).
Mi raccomando non cascate nei loro tranelli, all’inizio sono gentili poi diventano insistenti ma non possono farvi nulla quindi non rispondete più

Confermo il fatto che non bisogna andare oltre il vip2, per altro se provi a prendere tempo, inizialmente saranno tranquilli come se non fosse successo nulla, successivamente cercheranno di obbligarti trattenendoti anche i compensi messi per i like. Che dire godetevela finchè potete.

sono stato truffato anche io, per fortuna non erano soldi miei ma quelli guadagnati da loro, dovevano saldarmi i 10€ che avevo guadagnato ma poi hanno detto che non era possibile perchè ho saltato troppe attività e dovevo per forza passare a vip3 (ero a vip2), l’ho fatto ed ho pagato 100€ per poi riceverne 130 ma non e stato cosi anzi, dopo aver completato l’attività su linio tutto ok fino a quando mi hanno detto che ci fossero state 2 opzioni 1 pagare 480 e ne ricevo 600 credo, opzione 2 pagare 1000 e passa euro per riceverne molti di piu eccetera, ovviamente non ho voluto piu rischiare e ovviamente non sono cosi stupido da lasciargli 480€, ho lasciato tutti i gruppi, attenzione a tutti quanti, vip1 vip2 sono buoni perche su vip 1 paghi e ne ricevi di piu, vip2 attenzione paghi 10€ in piu e ne ricevi Comunque di piu e piu questi ma attenzione che si fa sentire la truffa, vip3 è la truffa, attenzione ai vostri soldi sempre occhi aperti su tutto!!

Hanno contattato anche me. Alle 7 di mattina mi ha contattato su WhatsApp una certa Isabella Romano di Ameriprise, con un numero straniero il cui prefisso era +62. Mi ha proposto di essere pagato per mettere like ai loro video su Youtube. Le ho chiesto di mostrarmi il suo profilo Linkedin e di dimostrarmi chi fosse veramente ed insistiva per farmi iscrivere sulla piattaforma senza rispondere alle mie domande. Ci ho messo un attimo a sgamarla grazie a Trustpilot.

Truffato anche io ma non ho capito se c'è la possibilità di recuperare i soldi dei bonifici istantanei.

Se volete guadagnarci qualcosa da questi truffatori dategli retta fino al VIP2 e guadagnerete qualcosa (purtroppo ti pagano prendendoli dai soldi dei truffati). Vi vorranno far passare a VIP3 (qui scatta la truffa). Prendetevi tempo, cercate di rimanere più possibile a VIP2 fin quando vogliono costringerti a passare a VIP3. A questo punto potete chiudere la conversazione e portare a casa qualche cosa. Inutile segnalare come truffa. Chiudono e riaprono i canali velocissimamente e nessuno può far nulla
