Terrible wish I’d never bothered. 3 weeks after paying for assisted guidance through the safe contractor accreditation I’ve mostly been left to it. I came up with all the policies myself and didn’t get any help. The sales person told me they would help us through and signed us up for 3 years! Why? They have done nothing why would they get us on a 3 year contract they knew we were a new company. The sales person said our qualifications would be fine but the auditor wants a tonne of them which we don’t have or need. Genuinely wish I hadn’t spent all this money I have no safe contractor accreditation and a 3 year contract with a useless company that doesn’t work for their monthly money. AVOID !!

Beware: Firstly it's up to you to manage all your documents and upload everything. They do nothing for the money you pay them and so secondly, about the money...
They have sneakily spilt their services into two - 1 is membership and 2 is accreditation. So it turns out that even though I paid for assisted accreditation I am not accredited, I am just a member. Being a member amounts to nothing and they wont even give me access to my membership certificate for proof to clients. So I'm paying for absolutely nothing.
They have my documents uploaded yet constantly hassle me to upload them and I keep telling them it's on their portal - I dont get it and I'm not dealing with them anymore after this year expires.
Use another company, one that might give you something back for the money you pay them.

Absolutely appalled by how Alcumus SafeContractor operates. They are a devious company that relies on sneaky auto-renewals and buried terms to take your hard-earned money without proper notice or consent. There is zero transparency and no regard for customer care or ethical business practice.

They automatically renew your membership without warning, even if you’re not using the service, then refuse to refund a single penny — all while hiding behind fine print and dodgy contract clauses. It’s a clear money grab, not a professional accreditation service.

The moment they have your card details, it feels like they’re just waiting to pounce. Trying to speak to someone about it? Good luck — they’ll quote policy and take no accountability. They do not care about you as a small business or contractor. It’s all about keeping your cash, not offering value.

Stay well away. This is not a company built on trust or integrity. Look for alternatives that actually respect their customers and don’t use underhanded tactics to trap you.

As with most other reivews here - Alcumus have taken my money automatically, I no longer need the service and gave notice 7 days before the renewal date.

Last year I paid by BACS and at that point they make you sign their 'terms and conditions' which had changed. If you wanted to keep the accreditation you had to sign them, however... they had changed them to 'auto renew' now they have your bank details.

This is a slimey way to do business. They send reminders and call you to 'remind you' and then hide behind that as an excuse to not do the right thing. Don't steal people's money, just give it back if they want to cancel. Easy.

Paid for the express service, to be a member within a few days, 3 mths later still not a member, Im a small 4 man business, the criteria to pass is pedantic and laborious to say the least, wont pass something as it needs to be signed, want a RAM sheet changing to add a location even though we work all over the UK, health and safety paperwork for all my sub contractors who work 3hrs away, quite ridiculous to be honest, no bend in them at all, wont take my word for it, antiquated software system that wont allow you to digitally sign meaning you have to print it off, re-scan it and email it back! come on guys its 2025 not 1985......on top of all this I keep getting sales bumph trying to get me to spend more money!

So been with Alcumus for many years and have always renewed by card over the phone. Last year apparently they changed their t&c’s and they didnt see it necessary to let me know that a call now signs you up for a subscription! They are now going to take renewal fees next week even though I no longer need as all managing agents have ditched them. Probably the reason they are trapping old customers

We sadly have had to withdraw from their services as they asked us to pay 11 months upfront costs for the next Audit visit, despite our long term relationship there accounts on T&Cs would not budge so were having to move away from them. We offered to pay 3 months in advance prior to audit date but this was not agreed. they have now just lost a good customer who was expanding company wide to the US next year with Alcumus supporting, but not now.

Criminals!!!! Alcumus took money out of my account without permission and I didn't agree to renew my membership. Demanding a refund and they have refused as it's non-refundable.
