Signed up for Pet insurance with AKC in May of this year. Was supposed to get a free 30 days never happened filed a claim in July and they cancelled me on 8/8/2024. Horrible company

I filed a claim which was denied by your company due to fabricated claim that it was a pre-existing condition. Theo started having symptoms of allergies 2 wks ago when we took him and was given an allergy shot. When I called your office, the rep read to me the notes “from the vet” stating that Theo had allergy symptoms back in January (which conveniently was prior to the start or his insurance coverage). I called the vet and as I expected, they did not have any documentation of any allergies on the visit in 01/24 or any at all until 07/02/24 when he was seen for that problem.
I confirmed that when I requested Theo’s entire medical records.
Fabricating a provider’s notes is not acceptable nor legal by any standards. When i called your office, I was told that the only way I could resolve this is by filing an appeal. Great! Taking time out of my already busy day to file a claim on something that should have been processed correctly to begin with. And I thought this was a reputable company. (Although, there really is NO reputable insurance company for that matter). I am a medical provider and I know this first hand through over 30 years of filing medical insurance claims and dealing with insurance companies. I was naive to think that pet insurance would actually do the RIGHT thing since they deal with animals who give us humans so much joy. Have a great day! I rated it one star because there was no option for a worse rating.

I spoke with Ashley to get my new puppy added to my current dog’s policy. She was professional, kind, listened to what I was needing and knowledgeable of the policy guidelines and the extras that I was interested in purchasing on the policy. I love AKC pet insurance and their customer service!

The representative I spoke with (Chaselyn) was knowledgeable, pleasant, professional, and very helpful. She let me get through all my questions and provided clear and concise answers. She helped guide me through selecting the best options for our pet and gave me the information I needed to know what would not suit our needs. She also made sure to repeat critical details, FAQs, and some common things she has experienced with customers to ensure I was fully informed. I was a bit overwhelmed researching different pet insurance options on my own but when I spoke to the rep at AKC, I was confident they were the right choice.

Excellent prompt service. All were professional, courteous and knowledgeable- patient and thorough. Many questions answered. Very impressed.

Many things have made my experience great with AKC pet insurance: we got a corgi puppy in November 2023, my first experience with a puppy. I have had other pet insurance coverage, nothing like AKC: AKC covered a claim for when Mochi ate too many indigestibles and had to have a procedure for flushing out his intestines in January, and AGAIN on April 2024...I recently spoke with Matthew, who has a great presence on the phone and is personable, empathetic, and patient with explaining benefits and procedures to me.
I am very pleased with the quick responses to claims and the ease for which to add a claim.

Allison in sales was phenomenal and absolutely a pleasure to work with. Allison was extremely knowledgeable and listened to exactly what we were looking for in insurance. she is a very personable, funny and made this experience a pleasurable experience. Hannah was the one I spoke with regarding questions about setting up my pets insurance and I will definitely say she was fantastic!! And such a pleasure working with and speaking too super cool and totally informative, and phenomenal customer service.

I can’t even put into words how amazing the customer service I received by Chase was this evening. She was so helpful in explaining every detail about insurance for my 6 pups. Chase was so patient and I never felt like she was rushing me off the phone. She was so kind and her passion for helping others showed in every way. She is very knowledgeable and was on point answering all my questions. She truly cares about animals, she cared about my pups! I had some complicated issues I created in my policy and claims. My phone call was answered by a routing choice which was easy and then routed in a timely manner to a person. They immediately understood my issues and resolved them for me. It has been a long, long time since I had such a professional, courteous, results experience.

After having to use my high interest credit cards to pay a $4,500.00 deposit to have orthopedic surgery performed at UF on my six month old pug and an additional $2,200.00 balance, in order have her released I decided to call AKC insurance to ask if my claim could be expedited. I was hoping to avoid paying the 30% interest charge fees by paying off my cards before they came due. Ashley W. assisted me and she was calm, friendly and knowledgeable. She offered to contact the claims department and request my claim be expedited. The claims department contacted me the following day explaining exactly what records they needed from UF to move along with my claim. The claim was completed in a couple days and I received my reimbursement that same week! Thanks to all involved! I was able to pay off my credit cards before they could charge me any interest! I received service above and beyond my expectations!

This company is a scam. I have had them since my dog was BORN and they still claim he had preexisting conditions in order to avoid a payout

The lady I talked with was the greatest. I apologize for not remembering her name, but she was very thorough a answered my questions before I asked.

AKC Pet Insurance representative, Jessica, was knowledgeable, expedient and highly professional in providing support to me today. I have had AKC Pet Insurance for two of my dogs for several years now and have consistently been impressed. Highly recommend.

We've had insurance for our pup since we first got her. Her breeder set her up originally and then moved the information to us when we got her. Originally, she was put on a Lifetime Limit for her allergy shots.. and once we hit that limit, we were told even if we updated the coverage.. that since we hit the limit for that specifically, it would no longer be covered. We stayed on the insurance because, compared to others, it covered a lot.

After a while, the premium went up and we worried that we were paying more than we were getting back, and it wasn't very worth it. Our pup had to get allergy shots every month which was close to $150 each time (because she's a GSD), and since it wasn't being covered anymore... it was a lot for us. Our dog visits the vet pretty often due to bad allergies and the occasional extra things. It really adds up.

Today, I spoke with a representative named Kat and explained our situation. Getting the allergy shots covered was priority since no other insurance would cover (due to it being a Preexisting Condition). Kat understood and walked me through their contract and a workaround in order to have the shots covered again. They were extremely patient and understanding. I was also recommended some small changes to help save money but still get the best coverage considering the current issues we've been facing. It involved getting a new policy entirely which, yes, there's a waiting period before certain stuff can be covered, but we think it's overall worth it in the long run. We also managed to save money compared to what we originally had. All in all, I really love AKC. Everyone I've spoken with in the business has been wonderful, and I'd highly recommend calling if people are interested in the plan.

Ashley D was amazing. I called because I had heard that there were a lot of changes happening with the pet insurance mostly that policies couldn't be changed as easily as before. Ashley went through everything with me one by one making sure I understood the ins and outs of my policy and made sure I was happy with the coverages I had. She didn't rush me and helped me make informed decisions. Love AKC pet insurance and their caring staff.

Great coverage plans, fair pricing and rapid claim services. Highly recommend.

Chase was phenomenal. Their customer service was phenomenal. The fact that she had over 5 years as a vet tech shows that they are hire experts. Not only does their plan cover my dog but more importantly a chance. Covering Pre Existing gives me the financial chance to do what's best for my dog.

AKC Pet insurance is easy to use and very prompt with reviewing, communicating, and paying claims. You simply upload a copy of the vet bill and they immediately confirm they received it. My experience is that it is reviewed and I receive a statement with in 24 -48 hours. My claims have been paid by a check in the mail with in one week on most occasions. I wish my own health insurance was this easy.

The insurance company responds quickly to the Vet submissions for my pug. And they immediately confirm the receipt of the claim, by email. The claim result is also very quickly reported by email. Within a few days, the corresponding check arrives! I've had no issues.
