I had to cancel my trip because I was nervous about getting covid once it first started. I requested a refund through air fordable and explained the situation, they refused. I then disputed with my bank. I tried to use air fordable for an upcoming trip and was told I had violated terms of service, and when I tried contacting customer support no one can give me an answer as to what terms I violated.
Take This ride with me………..
I am going to Mexico with my daughter. As a single mom I wanted to make sure that I planned slow and steady to ensure our trip went the way we needed. I started by booking my flight reservation. Two weeks later I was up late night and happened to view the flight noticing that there were only three seats left. My daughter still needed a ticket. I contacted Airfordable immediately. Because it was past business hours no one responded. I then contact Delta directly. I told them that I had a flight through third party and my daughter needed one. They couldn’t book her without tying me to her reservation. Because delta access my flight on behalf of accommodating my daughter they basically blackmailed me into paying my balance of 350 all at once, by end of the same day they contacted me, voiding the payment plan. If I didn’t have the $350 I would of lost all the money I had paid to ward it already because they would have cancelled the ticket for myself. Let’s get into that……. I cannot book a minor but they can cancel my flight while hers would remain effective.
You read that correct. Delta could NOT book her as a minor without tying it to my itinerary and they penalized me for booking a flight for my daughter. I will never book with them again.
We registered for four tickets and two weeks before the flight two of the passengers canceled. The cost was $1,185.14. The last payment of $244.72 is due in 3 days and when I requested for no more payments since payments are nonrefundable and I've already paid $938 for two tickets, Ii was told they would reduce last payment to $122.36 and it is still nonrefundable. This means now I'll be paying $1,060 for two tickets that cost $262.20 each. Why would Airfordable charge another $122.36 to just add to the amount of nonrefundable funds?
I’m a special education teacher in my 6th year and I travel out of the country every summer.
Whenever you read reviews, you do need to take them with a grain of salt. Why?
People tend to be more vocal when they are upset or things did not go their way.
They don’t usually say anything if things worked out well or they had a good experience—that’s just human nature. People are quicker to criticize when they have strong negative feelings than to praise when everything was fine. So if I’m hopping mad—I’ll be quick to write a bad review (and I’m guilty of this—I tend to be quicker to criticize).
Airfordable is not a bad company at all and does deliver as promised. I have used them three times and it’s worked out fine. They have been extremely flexible and understanding when I needed to change payment dates. Also you do have the option to pay bi weekly OR monthly. They were very quick to respond and get back to me on things. The one time a flight had a change they notified me immediately and asked what my preferences were.
It seems to me that there are a fair amount of folks who don’t bother reading or understanding what their responsibilities are and what they are signing up for in exchange for the privilege of extending their payment plans for flights to make it affordable. They have a service fee—this is stated up front. It’s not an outrageous fee either. If you don’t like the service fee, then find a way to pay for your tickets without spreading out the cost. They are a business providing a service, it makes sense to have a fee. You don’t get something for free, people.
As far as being able to cancel your booking or flights—if you read carefully, it is already stated that you will be refunded your payments minus a certain amount.
If you have purchased a non refundable ticket do you really expect them to eat the cost after they have fronted a portion of the money for you?
Common sense really helps, people! Reading is fundamental! This is a good company and very upfront.
I know that I only have one review. I know that this will be my only review, but let me explain myself first. I made this review BECAUSE this service worked extremely well.
Now, to the actual review:
I knew full well all the risks I took. I read all of the bad reviews, and honestly, I was skeptical. There were as many good reviews as there was bad reviews, and that's when I noticed a pattern with the bad reviews: they were all user errors.
The site lists everything you need to know and there is extremely straightforward about costs. They tell you their prices up front, they don't charge for interest, or do anything underhanded. The only things they do charge for are cancellation fees, change of date fees, and also the initial fee they charge per ticket, which is completely fair since they don't check credit or anything (also this is how they make money!).
Let me repeat myself: there is no interest charge, only the fees you pay up front. They do not hide anything.
My ticket went up $30 bucks and they contacted me saying "the original ticket price went up $30, the reason why this happened is because [long reason], but just a heads up we will charge that $30 and split it in your current payments". They gave me proof that the ticket did increase that small increment, and I was at first a little bummed out that I had to spend an extra $30, but I was extremely grateful how the company approached relaying that info. Most companies would slip it under your nose and blame you for not paying attention, while Airfordable was straightforward and told me the truth.
After I finished off my payments (I did the payment a week), they emailed me my confirmation number for the Airlines and I had my ticket as promised.
I know there are a lot of bad reviews. I also know that I am just one of many people with a good review, but this is my true experience with Airfordable. I approached this company with a lot of skepticism, but in the end I was not dissappointed.
It was great. This was my first time using the service. I was charged a small fee which was only $65 for using the service. The payments came out as scheduled. As soon as the last payment went through I received my flight confirmation. Everything was explained upfront. I definitely would use again
Worst place I’ve ever dealt with. I was paying for a trip to Hawaii before COVID and when they closed the island I could no longer go. I kept my money there at my United airlines until I finally asked for a refund. Took forever to get it and airfordable took 2 weeks to process my refund. They have no way to talk to anyone on the phone and is all done throughout emails. My advice is to stay away from this company and book directly with the airline company, because this third party is bs.
At first this may seem like a good idea, it’s not. Seriously, use your own credit card or go buy gift certificates for the airline as you get money for a rainy day because this is a rip-off. You could very well just do yourself a favor and save for two months because the payments are biweekly. On top of that, their customer service during the pandemic was GOD AWFUL! You either paid the remaining balance in order to get your refund back at all (still losing that initial booking fee that’s 10-20% of the ticket price- in the midst of job losses and money becoming an issue for most) or you just lost your money all together. Granted, it’s in writing before you sign but customer service is everything and they could have handled it better to retain their customer base. Do NOT use this.
I have been contacting Airfordable since 3/16/2020. At first they responded but once the airline released the refund no one from customer service has gotten back to me. SAD!!!
I booked a trip through Airfordable in February. I was furloughed and still am and no paycheck. I was due for a payment on my booking for a trip to Manchester, UK. I could not pay it. When everything started shutting down during this pandemic, I asked Airfordable to not take money from my account as I didn't have anything to spare. I was "advised" to cancel my trip and I would not be further obligated for any future payments. Side note: Their 'agreement' is that they keep a certain amount of that total beyond their fee when you cancel. Problem is, They kept a total of 760 (fee is 220). I knew the flight was going to cancel, but it hadn't yet. It finally did a few weeks ago. I am sure they got their money back. But refuse to respond to me when I email them. (7 times in the last month). I've even tried calling. I understand their rules and regulations, but I could have been given a refund minus their fee. No one will return my emails or phone calls. Why would you keep someone's money during a pandemic? I am struggling. Its a shame that Airfordable is now on the list of companies that refuses to do anything for people during COVID-19 which is STILL ongoing. Airfordable, You got your money back (flight was cancelled). Why can't you keep your fee and refund me?
