Regarding a Nissan Qashqai 1.6l tekna
We took a risk purchasing the vehicle without viewing it in person and having it delivered nearly 300 miles, so clear communication was particularly important to us..
That said, the main issue we experienced was around communication. We were initially told the car was in for its MOT, but no updates were provided. When we chased this, the response we received was simply “what about the MOT?”, which didn’t give us any clarity. We ended up having to contact the garage ourselves to find out what work was actually being carried out, and the garage later confirmed they had been contacted by the dealership regarding the vehicle.
There was also some confusion around delivery. When we first rang the dealership, Tracey informed us she believed Joe had already contacted us to say delivery would be the next day, and that any delay was due to issues with the delivery company. However, when we then rang the delivery firm directly, they advised they were still waiting for instruction from the dealership to even collect the car. After going back to the dealer again with this information, we were then told the car was “waiting to be valeted”, which contradicted what we had already been told.
This lack of clear and consistent communication made the process more stressful than it needed to be, especially when arranging finances and preparing for delivery.
To be fair, the vehicle itself did arrive valeted and with a fresh MOT and service, so the preparation side does appear to have been completed properly.
However, we would have much preferred straightforward communication — simply being told there was a delay due to valeting would have been far clearer than being told it was an issue with the delivery company.
After raising a query regarding a glow plug fault code, the garage contacted us promptly following our conversation with Tracey and were helpful in explaining that this is a common issue with these vehicles and that the glow plugs were all fine at the time of service.
Car was received on 28th. On 29th started squeaking when breaks were applied. Tracey was informed via email that we would take the vehicle for inspection the next day.
As of today 29th April Halfords have informed us both rear brakes are metal on metal and that they need replacing. They provided us with photographic evidence of this. When returning home we have informed Joe and he was nothing short of rude and abrasive. Dismissing it as Halfords overselling which I was already aware of but it also doesn't take a professional to see the wear on the photos. We then got labeled as one of those customers who are just going to moan and that we got a second hand car we shouldn't expect new brakes. Which obviously we don't expect that but when Halfords have said the mot should of picked it up and that the breaks are metal on metal it means that this car was sold to us in potentially unsafe conditions. The second he was informed the call was recorded her abruptly hung up.
*edited to add received further communication which they started being overly polite while denying fault. Claims that our repairs were unauthorised despite them previously denying their existence. They have refunded 75% of costs that were paid. We still are going to have further costs with the fact the brake carrier also needs replacement and repeating service and mot as the mot can't be relied upon.
The vehicle has now struggled to start on multiple occasions due to an ongoing glow plug fault that was identified immediately after delivery but initially dismissed by the dealer as “not an issue.” This is now clearly affecting the car’s reliability. Combined with the brake concerns that should have been picked up at MOT stage and the overall lack of transparency around the vehicle’s condition, it reinforces my concerns about the checks carried out prior to sale
Bought car with mot
Bought car with mot. Exhaust had big hole in. Local exhaust company told me this would not pass mot. Took back twice with engine management light. Not serviced. Not valeted. Local garage serviced and assured me filters etc had not been changed for a long time. In fairness. Put 4 new tyres on and part for engine management. Get the impression they sell you a car and see what happens. Cars all sorted now but if I went back in time I wouldn't use

I needed a car as I knew the one I had needed work doing on it that was going to cost more than it was worth. As my son had bought one here and was very happy with his, I thought well we will have a look. Couldn't have picked a better place to go. Looked at the website first saw a quite a few nice cars. Got there a lively friendly welcome nothing was too much trouble. Thought Iit's been a month since I got the car thoroughly tried and tested. I am Very happy with the Mitsubishi I bought great deal and price, warranty and AA Membership all insured and taxed within 30 minutes of saying I wanted it a lovely car. Real family buisness who look after you. Thankyou very much for yoir kindness and hospitality. 👌🏻
Rolled out with bells on!
I went out looking for my dream car on Christmas Eve. The staff at Ace Motors were trying to make it happen. Sales manager Herme G came in and put the bow on the package! I rolled out in my Cadillac Escalade with bells on.
Thank you Ace Motors!
Best to view and have a decent test drive not online
Saw a mini on line advertised as a Mini Countryman Cooper 1.6D. This was my youngest daughters first car. Agreed price Wed 28th Jan. Car was to include full 12 month MOT and 24 month warranty with option of breakdown cover. Delivery promised to Aberdeen Friday 30th. Paid full amount via bank transfer Wed 28th. I did also receive an invoice but after paying the amount called the garage as the invoice stated Mini Countryman Copper All 4 D. The car was totally de-badged in the pictures but if known an All 4 would not have proceeded. This is my fault for not looking correctly at the invoice. I did call and say the main difference was the road tax and insurance, £20 per annum compared to £165, insurance was a £110 difference. When I spoke to Gary his reply, " you have an invoice and you live in Aberdeen so a 4 wheel drive is better and Im not getting involved with your daughters problem". I agreed my fault and let it be. Car delivered on time Friday 30th 8am, perfect. Got handed paperwork from delivery driver, AA breakdown, fresh MOT dated 28.01.26 and service completed 28.01.26. Got in the car to drive home, 40 miles away and obvious whinning noise from rear of car immediately from 20mph on. Straight to my local garage, they removed the wheel and confirmed it was a collapsed wheel bearing. Warranty received had inception date of 29.01.26. Called warranty, gave details, agreed to proceed on warranty. Cost just over £190, was reimbursed £120 only less £50 excess. Received call from Gary asking what was I playing at as first 30 days warranty is with the garage, I said I was never told that and the inception date of warranty was day prior to receiving. Argument started as he said he knew "I was one of them guys". I cut the call as was pointless.I then received a mail from them to say Gary told me the first 30 days warranty was theirs, I was never told this. Went to collect the car from local garage and mechanic said engine management light is on, low tyre pressure front right ( new tyre on for MOT ) TPMS faulty. Quotes from garage, through warranty again. Garage quote £332.00 for Air Mass Flow sensor removing manifold to check for carbon build up and Exhaust back pressure sensor. Warranty agreed to contribute £180.03. My mistake for buying on line. Garys last comment to me in that call was I wanted a new car for old car price..no, I just wanted a working car especially with all the issues after a fresh MOT and service?????

One star is one star too many
One star is one star too many - purchased car, had it delivered, seemed OK, but noted that the side steps had been strapped up and did not work, they said they would send replacement motors for this but they never arrived, not only that i would have had to pay to have this done out of my own pocket - then afterr a week, the car broke down and had to get it recovered to local garage where had to spend £2850 to replace water pipes, starter motor, altenator, battery, asked for the warrnty details but these were sent after we had it repaired and had paid for it - the warrenty would not cover as it had a limit of £1000 -mso not worth the paper it is written on - paid £25,000 for a pile of junk, the front panel fel off as was not secured and that is £4000 to replace - well we dont have that money so it is tied up with cable ties - what a wonderul sight for a private plate Range Rover - overfinch!! would not recommend buying anything from these guys - what a swindler!

I am a returning customer and I cannot recommend Ace enough!
They are extremely helpful and provide an outstanding service. I enquired about a car on the morning and by the evening I was driving it home. It had just been MOT’d and came with a great warranty. As always, Joe was very helpful and couldn’t do enough to help. I am over the moon with my purchase.
Bought car few weeks ago from here
Bought car few weeks ago from here. And noticed a sound rang the garage and explained car was accepted straight back to be sent to a garage to get sorted asap. Car is now back with us fixed and spot on. Still covered under warranty for while yet also fab 10/10
2nd car I've bought from Ace
Already bought a car from Ace 4 years ago which has been a solid motor causing no problems. Always had a great, friendly experience from all. Now bought our second car from them and again they couldn't have been nicer. Very fair with my trade in when I explained the issues with it. Happy with the deal that we did and feel it was fair. Very nice 'family' environment to do a deal in. Also, not experienced any of the 'pressure' selling that others have reported. Thanks again Ace... I'm sure we'll be back!

Purchased a car at the start of December with collection at the end. Had couple of small requests with the car and they sent me to Browns (very helpful) and then to AJW body work, again very helpful. I’ve noticed a couple of bad reviews on here since purchasing my vehicle, and they may have put me off, which would’ve been a shame. I’m very happy with the vehicle I’ve purchased, I appreciate that I haven’t had it long, but it’s a secondhand vehicle that you’re buying, you pay your money you take your choice….
Avoid this dealership
Dashboard lights came on as soon as I drove it away. They said they'd fix it, but the fix didn't last. Then there were oil leaks from front and back. Their warranty is a scam and it's cost me thousands getting the problems repaired.
Avoid this place.
Biggest regret ever !
Purchased a Mercedes B class in July and have had nothing but issues, first was a blown turbo which took 3 weeks to repair, when I did eventually get my car back it wasnt set up properly and kept going in to limp mode with the engine management light coming on, i took it back and spent 4hrs waiting around, now the gearbox has developed a fault and doesn't go in to gear so chasing a repair through warranty which is very complicated. Something else which is very strange is my car was mot'd on the 4/6/2025 with 89355 miles but when I purchased the car on 7/7/2025 it had exactly the same miles on the clock ??? The garage they use use is a few miles away and on top of that the man handling the sale said to me "its a decent car, my sister has been using it to run about in" .
We purchased a Nissan Qashqai on the…
We purchased a Nissan Qashqai on the 6th of August, 6 weeks and 800 miles later the car broke down, our local garage inspected it and diagnosed the turbo had failed, the car was under warranty so i contacted Ace Motors and spoke to Joe, he could not have been more helpful, he informed me that any garage could carry out the repair, but he suggested i use Browns in Sherburn Village as they are familiar with working alongside the warranty company.
The car was repaired under warranty, both Joe and Browns kept us updated with what was happening.
Many thanks to Joe and the team at Ace, and also to the guys at Browns.
GREAT SERVICE!!!!!
Drove a long way but well worth it
We drove 225 miles after telephone discussions to view the car. The car was just as described and in lovely condition. The purchase was very straight forward and an all round pleasant experience.
Very much enjoyed the whole process and the drive home despite the awful weather!
Great service
My name is Glenn and I returned to buy a second car from Ace Motor Vehicles and again I was more than satisfied with the entire process , In my opinion Gary gave me a fair price for my vehicle I had bought from him last year and I am delighted with my latest purchase namely a Mercedes-Benz E250 CDi BlueEfficiency Coupe , I have only had the vehicle just over a week and see no reason so far why I won't be just as happy with the car as last time , Adding to the satisfactory experience is the fact that Tracey does all the paperwork side of things for you so you are able to drive away legally on purchase , There is no doubt in my mind that I will return to Ace Motor Vehicles for a third time as I have no reason whatsoever to doubt Gary's integrity and I will continue to recommend my colleagues to use the services of this company
durham office - don’t go
durham office - guy on the phone was rude, i felt the dummy being spit out from here. however - i hope he really enjoys the breakfast & dinner he’s not missing out on! woman on emails was nice though
LESS THAN 1 STAR
I only rated 1 star as I wasn’t able to select lower.
There are so many red flags for this dealer, it’s unbelievable.
Key notes:
They sell broken, damaged and dangerous vehicles that they claim are safe and will not accept responsibility for then.
They’re pleasant enough wgeh you arrive, but become hostile and rude when you inevitably have to contact them about the repairs the vehicle needs.
They use a company called Browns for repairs, who are equally disreputable.
I bought a vehicle in July, which seemed ok until I started to drive it. There were a fair few knocking noises that you wouldn’t expect from a vehicle if its age, and the clutch was screeching at times.
I was told to take it to browns for repairs, and was assured the knocking noises were fixed.
They were not.. and, if anything, they were worse.
I also advised of the clutch issues and was advised that they’re not going to fix the clutch at all, but would look to repair the knocking noises (again) so I took it back to browns.
After a second attempted repair, I was presented with another MOT certificate to ‘prove the vehicle was roadworthy’. Only, it wasn’t. The knocking had become far far worse..
I got back in touch with Jo, who basically said there was nothing wrong with the vehicle and, as I’m not a mechanic or MOT tester, I didn’t know what I was talking about.
I asked to reject the vehicle (as I’d only had it two weeks, and it was clearly faulty) but they laughed and denied this.
A few days later, I received an email from their legal team, also advising that I seem to have misunderstood my right to reject and that I couldn’t do so.
Luckily, I’d financed the vehicle, and went through them.
I was asked to provide an independent assessment, and I provided two. Both of which confirmed that the vehicle was NOT safe to drive, had several considerable faults and should NOT have passed an MOT.
Eventually, the finance company/broker forced the dealer to take the car back under right to reject.
But, I would encourage people who are not mechanics, to stay clear of this dealer. They are the epitome of rogue traders.
The speed at which the dealer denied to repair or accept rejection and then got their legal team involved shoes that they’re familiar with doing this.
Also the fact they claimed that I didn’t know what I was talking about, suggeste they felt they could bully their way to the outcome they wanted.
Stay clear at ALL costs
Good experience
Saw the car online. Phoned asked if he'd do a video of the car as I'm over 200miles away. Looked good, Paid a refundable £200 deposit. Travelled from Scotland down on the train to Durham to see the car. Joe was was helpful and laid back no pressure. Car was good when I checked it over, paperwork checked out following Joe's description of what was included so I bought it and drove it home. Had an oil leak from gearbox shortly after I got home. Joe apologised for that and asked me to take it to my local garage. They gave an estimate which was acceptable and Joe made me an offer of contribution to cost. I was happy with that, money was transferred to my account to settle the garage bill. Not great that there was a fault to deal with but I think always best to judge a place based on how they deal with things when they go a bit wrong. Overall pretty happy with how it all went. Would buy again in the future based on the experience i've had.
Please DO NO BUY A CAR FROM HERE!!!
Please DO NO BUY A CAR FROM HERE!!!!
I bought a car July 2024 and it was not road worthy! Not very nice people and very intimidating. I asked for a refund as the car was not to satisfactory standards and they ignored me for weeks. Still never got the car sorted and lied that there was nothing wrong with the car after being back in the garage 3 times in the space of 3 weeks. Absolutely disgraceful behaviour from a “professional company”
“PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY BUYING A CAR FROM THESE”
