The staff were professional and…
The staff were professional and friendly. They kept me informed at each stage of the process. They gave me ample warning of any action that needed to be taken and the delivery date of my goods. And, responded swiftly on communications.

Excellent move, pity about the packaging
Our move, in several stages, was excellent. Both Abel’s and Bishops Move teams were very well organised and professional, and Abel’s accommodated various challenges efficiently and courteously. Deserved 5stars! Unfortunately we have been left with a huge volume of packing materials. Requests for collection have been ignored by both companies to our disappointment and great inconvenience. A brilliant job but not quite completed.

They promise a high quality service but failed us .
They promise a high quality service but in our case we found them disappointing . We found their packing was poor and a number items in different boxes were damaged and although covered by insurance the process was arduous and the insurance money does not really adequately replace the loss of treasured keepsakes. The response to our complaints was in our opinion surprisingly poor. . Although they initially apologised profusely they became defensive . We have just given up trying to get what we regard as reasonable restitution .
We will not recommend them .

The matter did go to a mediation and the award to us was accepted

Fantastic team, friendly and professional service.
The team we had throughout our move (which was managed across a number of days given complexity on our side) were truly excellent. Friendly despite many stairs, a lot of furniture and some typical London setbacks around parking. Russell, Gary, Dan and all of the guys were a pleasure to work with and I’d recommend again, 10/10.

Very professional & courteous crews
Very professional & courteous crews on both sides of our move. The home office was very communicative & provided excellent support as we had to make a few changes. Well done.
So much damage
They broke ceramics and glass, dented art, damaged new walls, broke wood furnishings and pushed a heavy cabinet across the room with a newly laid floor, putting a long, deep scratch in it. They packed heavy things on top of house plants, which they took several days to move, killing most of them. They said it wasn't their problem. Twice as expensive as other movers, like Cadogan Tate and Britannia, and twice as careless. I was the liaison with the office and reported the damage throughout the move, keeping the office up to date. They then asked my husband, who had no knowledge of the situation, to sign a document, which they say in retrospect was a damage report. The only response I've had from the office is boilerplate language. Careless as well as unethical.

Moving house after 25 years
Moving after 25 years and downsizing was certainly an upheaval. Abels rose to the challenge and got me through it as painlessly as possible. The same team took me from packing to delivery in my new home. They were all charming, efficient and worked tirelessly to achieve a successful outcome. I would definitely recommend the company to family and friends.

Abel’s provided a great service
Abel’s provided a great service from beginning to end. We had a glitch over delivery times but the team doing the packing loading and delivery bent over backwards to make it work for us. They really made a difference to our move and we can’t thank them enough for their efforts.
We would still highly recommend Abel’s for removals as they were so much better than any other company we have used in the past

The return of the entire contents of…
The return of the entire contents of our flat was handled in one day by the most incredible team. They continually went out of their way to be helpful, whilst being very efficient in bringing up boxes and furniture items and placing them where we wanted them, courteous, respectful and friendly. I was very particular about ensuring floor protector pads on the heavy furniture... and the team worked with us to make sure everything was done correctly. They were very patient and were very respectful of our property.
We had John, Sean, Sol and Sam on the job that day... and I cannot commend them highly enough. Utterly first class job and a great team.

Great experience all round for UK-EU move
I decided to go with Abels for my UK-Belgium move due to their great reviews on here, and I wasn't disappointed.
Particular things to note:
- the good communication and follow-up of the admin staff. Particular mention to Jade in the office.
- really great and safe packing. I've moved some eight times before so I know good packing when I see it.
- friendliness, competence and good humour of the packing crew.

Un-Abel to do anything right
Abels was an absolute nightmare from the beginning. I've moved internationally more than a dozen times in my life, and another dozen domestically and I have never had such an incompetent moving service. We have used Abels in the past and they were very good, but this was 20 years ago so things have clearly gone dramatically downhill.
I'll detail the issues below, but I cannot stress this enough. Do not use them. I certainly never will again. I've had far better experiences with Pickfords and Hadley and Ottaway relatively recently.
1. The sales person we contacted for a quote was slow to reply to me and would lose emails, causing days of delays.
2. He then didn't turn up to the phone consultation and sent a colleague instead. The colleague promised to send me multiple quotes,with and without crating for some sentimental items. He never did. I received one quote and none of my items were crated.
3. Abels was very slow to arrange a delivery date and kept saying we had plenty of time. This left me with a choice of only two dates when they finally agreed to set one.
4. Abels' American partner org did not give us a copy of the inventory on the day when everything was packed and loaded. They eventually emailed one after a lot of hassling from me. Abels themselves stopped answering any of my emails. Only the American company was responding.
5. I repeatedly asked when the shipment would be leaving the US and received no reply. For months, it sat in a storage site with no date for when it would leave or when I would receive it. I emailed Abels repeatedly and received no reply. I eventually gave up with email and called and was given a Whatsapp number. This was then the only way I could get a response from Abels.
6. The shipment was loaded onto the truck at the end of December. It didn't leave the US until March and processed up and down the east coast of the US before eventually making its way to London.
7. I was given no choice of delivery date and had to accommodate their schedule. I wasn't given an arrival time for the truck. I was told they would call an hour before arrival. They didn't.
8. The drivers damaged one of the trees on my street after claiming they couldn't drive the truck into the parking area for my building because of another tree. I've seen multiple moving vans the same size in this parking area. Then they noted insufficient parking as an issue on the forms.
9. All of my boxes arrived crushed, torn open, unlabelled and mis-labelled. The Abels drivers tried to blame it on the American movers.
10. The Abels movers left half the boxes at the bottom of the stairs to my flat, leaving my partner to carry them up the stairs.
11. We discovered that Abels had lost the entire top section of our dining room table. The movers insisted that it was here somewhere and kept trying to leave. It was only when I refused to sign off the papers that they started looking for it. They claimed that they had been there when the truck was reloaded and everything was there and again tried to blame the American movers.
12. I called Abels to complain and they said they would 'find it' and said they would call me back in 20 minutes. They didn't call. They called one of the drivers who told me it had been left at the warehouse and they would have it to me that afternoon.
13. The Abels movers didn't do the box count properly so my partner and I had to re-do it ourselves. They refused to let us have a copy of the checked inventory. I still haven't been sent a copy of it with their notes.
14. Abels repeatedly promised to call me back about the table top at a certain time and never did. I had to chase them constantly.
15. They eventually turned up after 6pm with the table. It was damaged.
16. I still haven't finished unpacking as the movers left without doing it. But every single box or piece of furniture I open has something broken or damaged. I haven't attempted to claim them back via the insurance but I'm sure that will be an arduous process of Abels ignoring my emails.
17. They still haven't followed up either to check on insurance, the other boxes we told them were missing, or to apologize for how terribly they handled the whole thing.
Save yourself months of stress and thousands of pounds and find other movers.
