Strengths of this program:
1. Foundational Knowledge, great for learning introductory principles of UI/UX.
2. Actual hands-on extensive experience with UX research, and design projects.
3. Lessons are easy and simple to digest
4. Nolan's strengths are technical understanding of Figma, and explaining UI/UX general principles. He’s easygoing, understanding, and has a friendly demeanor. Most people would be very happy to have him as an instructor.
5. Supportive classmates that you will remain friends with.
6. If you have experience with design principles and design software, you will do well.
Where the program could improve:
1. Communication responsiveness could be improved. Some students reported multiple cancellations of scheduled 1:1 meetings. Because students often made logistical arrangements in advance (such as childcare or time off work), these consistent cancellations had a negative impact on students.
2. How student questions are addressed. Occasionally, responses such as “of course not” to student’s questions felt discouraging, and a softer delivery might foster a more psychologically safe learning environment.
3. Internship: A key reason many students joined the program was the promised paid internship, described as being awarded within the first month after graduation. However, the internship process extended roughly 3–4 months beyond that timeframe, without any initiation of contact from the institute. During this period, updates were sporadic, and expectations were unclear. This had a negative impact on students outlook towards the program.
4. Accessibility to Non-Tech Saavy and Non Design Familiar people: The program appears to assume a baseline level of comfort with design software. Students without prior experience in tools such as Figma may find tasks challenging. While the theoretical foundations of UI/UX are covered, some participants may need to supplement the course with additional resources to strengthen their practical prototyping skills.
5. The expectations around constructive criticism and design critique were not clearly outlined prior to feedback sessions. As a result, peer feedback tended to be primarily positive, and additional guidance on how to deliver structured, constructive critique may have strengthened the learning experience.
This program really made me excited about the field of UX and I think it’s a great foundational course to kickstart your journey in this field! When I was initially looking into UX bootcamps I wanted one that had a live instructor and didn’t just feel like an asynchronous course. So I really liked this program because we had teams with other students and a live instructor for critique and feedback. It was great engaging with my teammates and getting to work with and know them.
I really enjoyed that the projects we worked on were all month- long, collaborative ones and varied from creative mobile app design to website redesigns— it felt very practical and useful. Furthermore, I liked that we really dove into the extensive UX process, from research to define to design and etc.
While I did like that the projects’ due dates were flexible to our team’s progress, the graduation date for the overall bootcamp got pushed back for us. I also wish that critiques were a little more engaging at times, but I understand it depends on the cohort.
Lastly, I really appreciated Nolan’s guidance and support throughout the project whether it was navigating challenging team dynamics or getting personal technical help with the softwares. He really wanted us to learn and ask questions, and I’m glad I had him as my instructor for the course.
During the UI/UX Design Workforce Institute course, I learned about the different phases of the UX and UI design process and used what I learned in the different projects assigned. It helped me understand more about what the term, “user experience” means and how to apply it to future design projects. The course was also taught well by Mark Richman, and I appreciate how the course was designed for each week. Overall, the UI/UX Design course was a good experience, and I recommend the course to anyone who is looking for how to improve their skills in design and/or development fields.
Well - I was asked (begged actually) to write a review.
So, here it is in a few short bullet points:
1) Is this course a good one? -
Kinda? I learned a lot through the videos but the online classes were very unstructured and often weren't long enough for everyone to present / get feedback
2) Nolan:
Nolan.... Well, Nolan was my instructor. When he got with you in a meeting, his information could be very helpful. What isn't helpful is when he will push off meetings for months, over and over again. It became a bit annoying to have to track down EVERY person in this business for answers or help... for literally ANYTHING. From feedback on projects to the "promised internship" the whole thing was life draining.
3) Would I do it again?
No
4) Was there anything about this class that I liked?
Yes, I met some absolutely amazing classmates in this class who are still good friends to this day! I am beyond happy to have met these people in this class where we all suffered together.
My name is Aditi Kamboj, and I completed a UX/UI Design certification from Workforce Institute. I truly believe this was one of the best decisions I’ve made so far. During the course, I learned all the essential fundamentals that every good designer needs to know.
From the enrollment process to graduation, everything was very smooth and well organized. I would especially like to recommend my professor, Mr. Mark Richman. He explains every detail very clearly, is always ready to help students, and goes the extra mile to support our ideas from the concept stage all the way to the final outcome.
What I admire most about him is his passion for teaching and the way he makes learning fun, so it never feels like a burden.
I would definitely recommend Workforce Institute and Professor Mark Richman to anyone interested in learning UX/UI design.
The instructor, Nolan, has a comprehensive knowledge of UI/UX design. He had a huge amount of information to present in a short time period. It was a daunting task, but he did it well, while being flexible with deadlines and presenting his knowledge base in a laidback, conversational way.
Nothing is perfect, and while I’d have arranged group projects in a different order and Workforce Institute could develop better student tools, I did learn an incredible amount of useful information and gained useful experience through the class projects.
I've taught several of their Digital Marketing certificate courses and found the materials to be quite good. As an instructor of the live classes, I'm empowered to flex during my classes to delve into student-driven topics and to adapt to new changes in the digital marketing landscape.
For instance, the curriculum covers major social media platforms like FaceBook, X, and LinkedIn, but I also share global statistics and we talk about how different platforms are more or less suitable depending upon whether you've a US-only business or a global one.
The Digital Marketing Program at Workforce Institute School was one of the best decisions I’ve made for my career. I signed up hoping to learn a few new skills, but I walked away with confidence, direction, and a genuine excitement about my future in digital marketing. The program was thoughtfully designed, making even the more complex topics feel approachable and relevant. From social media strategy and content creation to understanding analytics and building campaigns, everything we learned felt practical and useful in today’s job market.
Hello Duain,
Below is the review for the training.
I recently completed a digital training at Workforce institute and I must say it was an amazing experience. The training was well structured and I learned a lot about the different aspects of digital marketing and how the digital marketing systems work. The instructors and mentors were very knowledgeable and insightful but our instructor, Randa Tadros, stood out. She was always patient and took the time to analyze our assignments providing constructive feedback and guidance on how to improve. Her attention to details and dedication to our learning was inspiring. Overall, I am grateful for the opportunity to have been a student at Workforce Institute and I highly recommend their digital marketing training.
Thank you.
Monsurat
This experience was truly remarkable, and I am pleased to have been involved in enhancing my understanding of interfaces. While the course presented some challenges due to its intricate details, gaining proficiency in resume and portfolio creation was essential for my career aspirations. The course provided valuable insights into UX/UI design, and over the course of five months, I developed a greater understanding of Figma, allowing me to leverage my skills as a digital designer and artist to successfully progress within the Workforce Institute's program.
