Fantastic Smithy
We commissioned garden railings from West Country Blacksmiths at Allerford, Somerset. They are delightful folk and extremely skilled. They came and measured up, took notice of what we wanted and made the most beautiful handrails and guards for us, then came and fitted them. They not only enhance the safety of our garden but look gorgeous too. All our visitors are so impressed and we are very happy indeed. Well worth the investment in top flight traditional craftsmanship as lovely to look at and use.

Gorgeous Firepit/BBQ
Really friendly local blacksmiths and an amazing fire pit with stainless steel grill, it looked so good I happily sat in the rain under an umbrella for an hour just to test it out!

Timewasting
Seeing all the lovely designs in their Gallery I contacted this firm in early March and was promised a visit within 2 wks. Nothing. After prompting someone came and we discussed my project, a garden handrail of a design that already existed. I was assured their design team would enjoy doing it and I would be sent outline plans/design ideas. Nothing. It is now 9 weeks. When I complained I received a rambling e-mail concerning their personal problems. In my opinion they are taking on more work than they can handle which is very unfair to customers. I cannot comment on the quality of their work as I got nowhere near to having any, but if you use this firm be prepared for a Very long wait.

Besvarelse fra West Country Blacksmiths
I am very sorry to read this review. I am sadden by this and don't feel this is fair, but it is your opinion.
We undertook the 3 hour round trip to survey your requirements and worked on a a totally bespoke design for you free of charge.
Its very unfair to say we sent a rambling email about personal problems. We are two brothers who own the business and we advised that our father had sadly died overseas unexpectedly and due to this tragedy, our travelling and self isolation, things have been slower than we would like at the moment.
I can only apologies that the not working due to death of our father is not an acceptable reason for a delay in your eyes, but this has been the most traumatic event of our life's.
We are very lucky that all our other clients have been so understanding and we really appreciate the love, understand, patience and that has been shown to us.
I had reply to your email to me before reading this review. I'm sorry that you felt this was necessary.
Excellent fire pit
Excellent fire pit ! Simple strong and practical. The metal is much thicker than most fire pits which means it holds the heat longer. Plenty of room to tuck your feet under the fire to warm them late at night !

I ordered a hearth set from West Country Blacksmiths, not very long before Christmas, and the response on line was quick and I was kept in touch with progress and indeed it was delivered in time for me to give it to my husband for Christmas. We were both delighted with the finished product and it is in daily use now.
No complaints whatsoever and delighted to have a nicely crafted set of ironware. Many thanks.
