Thank you for choosing webuyanycar.com to sell your car. A one-star rating tells us the team who looked after you when you came into our Delray Beach branch fell well short of the five-star service we set out to provide on every appointment, and we apologize. You should not have been kept waiting as long as you were.

Finding yourself at the DMV after the sale, having to prove you no longer own the car, is the part of this we most want resolved. In Florida, the license plate stays with the seller rather than the vehicle, and the seller files a Notice of Sale with the state within 30 days, which removes their registration from the vehicle. If the insurance is canceled while the plate is still registered, the seller surrenders the plate at a tax collector's office. As the buyer, we take ownership of the vehicle and its signed title. We are sorry if those responsibilities were not explained to you adequately. We buy hundreds of cars in Florida every week and this is the first time I recall a customer raising this, and we are looking into exactly how the seller's steps were communicated to you so that we can make them even clearer.

On the figure itself, our online valuation is an estimate built from the information provided by the customer, and the final offer reflects the verified condition of the vehicle after a professional, in-person appraisal. You told us online that the vehicle had been in an accident, and when you did, we let you know that the severity of the accident would have to be established at the inspection before we could make you an offer. Your vehicle's Experian AutoCheck history discloses that an airbag was deployed. That raises the severity considerably, because it tells any future buyer the impact carried enough force to deploy one or more airbags, and it permanently lowers what a car is worth however well it was repaired, which is known as diminished value.

Our buyer's professional, in-person appraisal also documented six physical and mechanical issues that were not reflected in the online estimate, including:

- Air conditioning blowing warm air and requiring repair
- Oxidation to the roof panel and to the tailgate, both requiring repainting
- Dents to the driver side front and rear doors, requiring repair and repainting
- A hole in the front bumper, requiring repair, filling and repainting

We have every vehicle independently inspected before we sell it, and on the industry standard NAAA Vehicle Condition Grading Scale yours was graded 2.6 out of 5, which is Below Average. Taken together, that history and those issues meant we sold the vehicle on at a loss, which is why we are confident the price we paid you was a generous one.

We encourage every customer to stay with us through the appraisal and ask questions as we go, because seeing what we see is the clearest way to understand how a vehicle's condition moves its valuation. When you asked why the figure landed where it did, that should have been explained to you plainly, and before you had to decide whether to accept or reject our offer.

We have escalated this to the Area Manager responsible for the team in Delray Beach, who is investigating this along with how your appointment and the follow-up call were handled, and who will be reaching out to you directly. Making this right, and giving you the five-star experience you were owed, is what we are committed to.

We're sorry. That you sold your vehicle and came away believing the process was built to serve us rather than you is not the impression we ever want to leave a customer with, and it is not how we operate. We also want to apologize for our team not delivering on the five-star customer service standard we hold ourselves to, and the fact that the conversation was a friendly one does not make up for that.

Our online valuation is an estimate presented in good faith, built from the information provided by the customer, including the mileage entered at the time. The final offer reflects the verified condition of the vehicle after a professional, in-person appraisal.

The largest part of that difference traces to the vehicle's own recorded history. Experian AutoCheck flags an out of sequence mileage entry: an inspection dated June 9, 2023 reads approximately 36,600 miles, against readings from days earlier of approximately 38,600. Mileage cannot decrease on its own, so it appears something happened to this vehicle's recorded mileage around that time, and in many cases that occurs before the current owner ever acquires it. We would encourage you to pull the history report for yourself, for your own protection. Where the recorded mileage does not reconcile, the odometer disclosure completed on any onward sale cannot certify the reading as actual mileage, and every future buyer has to be told. That finding is Experian's.

Our professional appraisal identified 5 physical and cosmetic issues that were not reflected in the online estimate, including:

- A poor previous repair to the driver side front fender, requiring the panel to be repainted
- A scratch to the hood
- Oxidation to the rear bumper
- Two damaged alloy wheels

We invite all customers to join the appraisal process so they can see what we see and understand how a vehicle's condition affects its valuation. Our team should have explained these findings, and where the odometer notation came from, before you had the opportunity to accept or reject our offer.

No one should feel they had no choice. Our appointments are conducted in a pressure-free environment, and every customer is free to decline our offer and keep their vehicle. A formal complaint is logged, and the Area Manager responsible for our mobile team in South Florida is investigating and will be reaching out to you directly. We intend to give you the five-star experience you were owed rather than leave this where it stands.
