Purchased my Girlfriends engagement ring from VJ.

Everything way perfect, I chose the ring design and they have some fantastic advice and reset in gold. We got the size slightly off, but VJ resized for free and very promptly.

Very happy and highly recommend.

From the initial conversations in store to the final article being produced, the service received was personable and exceptional. The attention to detail shown in every aspect of the process is a credit to the industry and resulted in exactly what was desired. Would highly recommend, and will be using again.

We were keen to find a Birmingham jeweller to help us crest a special bespoke bangle to hold a gold half sovereign which my husband had given me. This required imagination and skill, as it would be quite different to a traditional pendant mounting. The team at Victoria James were excellent and by studying examples of my existing jewellery and exploring a number of options, they were able to create a true lay beautiful and unique piece which was within our price range. Thank you.

Excellent customer service, they couldn’t have been more helpful. It was great to actually deal with the person who was working on the ring. I would definitely recommend them.

Spent a considerable amount purchasing an art deco style ring. Had it resized, however the claws weren't recheck which allowed a tiny amount of movement to the stone. Stone come away/lost. No damage to the claws or ring to justify the stone being dislodged. VJ took no responsibility whatsoever.
Don't take the risk using this company. Any issues, they will just leave you to fend for yourself. They certainly give good jewellers a bad reputation.
Replying to the below - experienced well known jeweller confirmed their inspections were incorrect. All rings get scratches. Absolutely no evidence ring had been smashed. All four claws we in place. Have photos to back this up.
Your version so you can claim zero responsibility. 10 months later I should not be in this situation.
As I say, stay well away. They will take zero responsibility if anything was to happen.

I recently had a necklace made here by Geoff who has worked in the trade all his life. He was so enthusiastic about making sure we got the design just right for me and spent ages talking it through with me. When we went back to collect it he was as excited about the piece as I was. He said he’d really enjoyed working on it. Thank you for something special.

I was looking for someone to value and assess my diamond after wanting to buy it loose. Despite the website saying they do valuations for £65 I got a curt email saying they dont. That diamond fell through and so VJ was one of the jewellers I contacted to ask if they could source a diamond. Got another email saying no. That was fine as possibly something they dont do however the bluntness of the mail was just bizarre. Really not sure why I kept going back despite the rudeness but having now acquired a diamond I asked if they did bespoke ring design. Not even the courtesy of a reply. I know this place is not inundated so assume the owner is just rude. A few of my friends have married in the last 2yrs and have mentioned the owner is just a bit odd. None of us recommend. JQ is full of better places. Dont waste your time.

She now appears to have (inexplicably almost a year later attached my emails. As you can see I was perfectly reasonable in my requests. FYI Vicky - I agree you arent obliged to do as I ask. THIS IS HOW REQUESTS WORK. I ask, you say yes or no. Does that make sense? There’s no need to be rude. Were you raised or dragged up?

One thing to add is she seemed to turn her nose up to lab diamonds. Vic - despite your passe (No love, Art Deco is not timeless) its 2022 and the world is waking up to the waste of money and massive natural resources wasted on mined diamonds. Looking at you i’d guess you were about in your 80’s and will want to pass the business down. I get change is hard, but necessary if you want to survive. I know a number of advisors in this area if you change your mind.

Awful after sales customer service. From reading other people’s reviews there is clearly one bad egg in the business who is providing these awful experiences both in person and online as the people who we saw when purchasing the jewellery originally were lovely ! Such a shame but they’ve definitely lost our business 👎🏻

Took a piece of jewellery in for repair and valuation.
Excellent customer service and highly knowledgeable. Took a genuine interest in the piece and gave me lots of information about it. Work was carried out to a high standard. Highly recommended.

Went to the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham. Very helpful staff and very polite. We purchased our wedding rings from there. Highly informative on choice of metals and stones. Spent about 1 hour and never felt rushed. They offered free adjustments if needed & a polish of my Fiancées engagement ring. Well done all.

Have used several times both for new pieces of jewellery and as a repair for my engagement ring. Service has been perfect each time - they told me it might take up to two weeks to repair my engagement ring due to it being so close to Christmas but it was fixed within a week. Definitely recommend.

Impatient and rude. And they think customers are annoying. ...not clear about what stones they will use. The more my boyfriend asked, the more cross they got!

Sadly, very rude - not interested in repairs. If you want to be insulted about any jewellery you take there, do go to this establishment!!

Alternatively find another jewellers who would like your business - there are plenty in B’hams Jewellery Quarter.
