I wouldn't say GREAT but generally efficient. In my opinion I/we filled out the necessary forms Dr., therapist, etc. and submitted them for review and it seemed to take a long time for TripMate to respond. Perhaps I am wrong. However when planning a trip at 84 yrs of age it's always a risk. Thus the trip insurance. We missed seeing our son who lives in Prague so perhaps he can visit us next year.

I only give this place a one star because I can’t give it a negative! NEVER. Work with them they denied my claim because I should have seen the hurricane coming and canceled my trip sooner!!! There is no hotel or airport to fly into. Worst company I have ever seen never give them your money and I would question any company that works with them

Due to an injury I was unable to travel and my doctor advised me not to take the Viking cruise with my girlfriends. I was in pain, sad, and disappointed and on top of all that I was out a substantial amount of money. After I uploaded the documents from start to finish took only 3 weeks. I expected six months and to be haggled because I read some of these reviews and freaked out on my Viking agent but she told me that for every bad there are probable a hundred good experiences but people don’t tend to share them. I’m taking the time to write this for that very reason. I had no trouble whatsoever and am extremely grateful that I don’t have to remember to call repetitiously while I’m in recovery from elbow surgery.

The TripMate insurance provides peace of mind. It was much easier than expected to submit a claim for emergency dental care that I required while in Amsterdam. Everything regarding submitting the claim was done on-line; I didn't even have to speak with a representative! All I needed to do was to upload my dental reports, associated bills, and proof of payment. A few weeks later, I received notification my claim was completed and to arrange payment.

This was the second time I had to use Tripmate. Not a fault of myself. I was looking forward to both trips. The surgery I had got infected. I really thought I would go, but I still am not walking. The insurance was very simple to fill out. My surgeon didn’t not fill the paper correctly. The insurance found the mistake and told me about it. The doctor redid it and I was paid almost immediately. He never told them I was in rehab and couldn’t walk. Still can’t! They were excellent! Thank you very much!

Reimbursement took about two weeks. All required documents were received without question. My only concern was a rather lack of the exact math used to determine the payout. The payout was correct but it took some effort on my part to verify that.

I too was planning on going to Jamaica.I can just basically say ditto of what Antoinette said. The problem is that they do not give you an opportunity to purchase any other agreement than the one that they have. This agreement also does not state what hurricane category one through four. So any hurricane they’re not gonna reimburse you. If you don’t believe what I’m saying, read all of the other reviews on here. I also filed a complaint against the Better Business Bureau. I am out $4500. Spoke with Tripmate many times.
they will respond to this by saying you should read the trip information before purchasing it. First of all, they don’t give you that opportunity. secondly, when you purchase trip insurance, it says you can cancel for any reason. Why would you read any more into it. Please don’t listen to what their response is going to be to this review. They are a scam.

My husband and I booked a trip to Jamaica for 12-16 December 2025 with insurance from Tripmate. Hurricane Melissa damaged the Resort on 27 October 2025, over a month prior to when we were suppose to travel. We contacted the Resort on what course of action we needed to take to get a refund. We filled out a claim as we were instructed from the Resort. About a week later we received less then half the total cost of our reservation for our trip. We were confused so we call the Resort to get an explanation. The Resort explained to us that they returned their portion of the trip but, we would have to wait on Tripmate on the other half. A couple days later Tripmate sent us a 5 page letter basically saying that they would not give us a cash refund because their policy states that our travel dates are outside of the 30 days window after Hurricane Melissa hit for a cash refund. So that meant if we were not traveling between 27 October to 27 November or already on our trip, Tripmate would not issue us a cash refund. Tripmate will only give a voucher. Confused on why a voucher and not a cash refund, we called Tripmate. The agent at Tripmate confirmed the same information that was stated in the 5 page letter that was sent to us. We explained that we did not want the voucher but, our money and no longer interested in going to Jamaica. Tripmate refused to give us our money back. We either accept the voucher and use it within twelve months or lose the remainder of our money. What I don't understand is how the Resort refunded their portion and the insurance won't refund their portion. As Veterans of the US Army, my husband and I have served over 50 years combined and I have never experienced being robbed like this. $3100 for reservation at a Resort, reimbursed a little over $1200. Priceline is not any better. First class and business seats costed us $2400. $0 reimbursement. Just because they could land a plane in Jamaica, regardless of the damage Hurricane Melissa left behind in Jamaica, no refunds, just credit. If we take the credit and travel somewhere else, we have to pay an additional $300 per person, on top of the $2400 we already paid. Highway robbery!!! We will never use Tripmate, Priceline or American Airlines again!!! You all will reap what you sow.

After an injury I requested assistance on travel home. Although I received emails stating they would be glad to help, I RECEIVED NO ASSISTANCE. As a result the injury and the pain from the injury was excruciating. Now my recovery time is extended. Do not waste your money

We have been on 7 Viking Cruises and always bought the trip insurance. We have never had to use it, until now. We submitted the claim and before the trip started we had all of our money back, less the cost of the insurance of course.

We had to cancel a cruise because an old injury resurfaced making walking too difficult for a Viking expedition trip. The claim process was entirely online and involved attaching a letter from our doctor. It was settled in 10 days and the money was received via Zelle almost instantly.

The claims process was straightforward once I downloaded the correct forms and uploaded them back to TM. On the claim forms, I submitted a detailed timeline of our situation and then was notified on 27 October 2025 that my claim was finalized. However I have not received any refund yet with no further correspondence from Trip Mate.

I’m dealing with TripMate for a Medical claim and also for having to cancel a trip with Viking. My last contact person was Ethel. She gave me information about my two claims and was excellent in explaining how the procedure works. I will update this post when I have received the money owed to me. Ethel was wonderful and reassuring. I hope this will end well. Thank you Ethel for explaining the procedure to me.
Today I received an email from TripMate that my claim was settled and the money from my cancelled trip was ready. I gave them my checking account information and the money was immediately sent to my account. The Medical claim was also processed to my account.

If I could give 0 I would they are a scam I recently booked a flight to Florida from NY as my father went into hospice he was given 2 weeks to 3 months to live sadly he took a turn for the worst and died the night I booked the flight I had to cancel and they refused to refund me since he died too soon after booking very disappointing

Do not waste your money on this company. You will only add to your losses. No, I did not buy insurance when I purchased the American Airlines tickets six months in advance. But they kept offering the chance to still purchase trip insurance, every time they sent a reminder or "buy more" ad on the itinerary. So, when a serious illness cropped up for a traveling companion, I fell for it. It was about 3 months before travel, and they did not say, it couldn't be purchased. They took my $50 quickly and easily. But, when the need did arise to cancel, I filled out their paperwork, and presented all the "evidence" they requested. It took a month, but they said, I did not send all the paperwork they requested. So I sent it again, in an even more clear format, and added a letter of explanation with it. It was denied again, saying there was no evidence. Sense a pattern? So, the $50 I spent to purchase the insurance after the airline purchase, just added to the $550 loss of the tickets.
I believe TripMate is at best, a predatory company, if they exist at all. Save your money, don't throw good money after bad.
I will be filing a complaint with my state insurance commissioner in Washington. If you have experienced a loss from this company, I advise you to do the same.

Instructions were very easy to follow and it was easy to upload everything. I never had to talk to an actual person from start to finish. As claim was being processed they send updates and then with refund was approved I had options on how I could receive it.

We had a wonderful response in all ways from Trip Mate when my husband was diagnosed with cancer requiring chemotherapy and we had to cancel our long awaited amazing cruise.
We had booked it last year and never thought we’d have to cancel it. Trip Mate were responsive, helpful, quick and efficient in dealing with our claim from the first contact we made with them. We received confirmation of the claim and our checks within a couple of weeks. Trip Mate are the best and we will always use them when we can hopefully book another cruise. Thank you Trip Mate for making our cancer diagnosis a little less stressful for us.
