I recently ordered a number of Victorian-style cast iron radiators from tradscastironradiators.co.uk — specifically the 2-column and 4-column designs. Visually, they are excellent. The build quality appears solid, and the aesthetic fits perfectly with the period features of the property.

However, I was very disappointed with the lack of clarity around manufacturing tolerances. The website provides specific dimensions, including pipe centres, which I used to install fixed pipework in advance. Upon delivery, I discovered that some of the radiators were up to 35mm shorter than stated — a major problem that has cost me both time and money to rectify.

When I called the customer service line, I was told there is a 5% manufacturing tolerance on all radiators. This is understandable for cast iron products, but nowhere on the website was this tolerance mentioned clearly, nor was there any disclaimer about potential variation in pipe centre measurements. In my view, the site should not give specific pipe centre measurements at all if they are not guaranteed. At the very least, there should be a clear warning about tolerances so customers can make informed decisions.

Overall, while the product looks great, the lack of transparency around sizing tolerances makes this a frustrating experience. If you’re installing pipework ahead of delivery, be extremely cautious and allow for variation — or risk having to redo it at your own expense.

Beautiful radiator. It matches the old ones already in our house. I liked the updates to tell me when the order was ready. The delivery driver was very good and put the radiator where I asked him to. It's been a hassle-free experience and I'd use Trads again.

Ordered another 6 radiators, they were slightly more expensive vs the cheapest competitor I could find online but having ordered from Trads before I knew the service and product are brilliant.

Eve pulled together the order, their emails kept me informed of the build and test progress and delivery was provided with a 2 hour slot. Can’t wait to get them fitted.

The previous order has been installed for over 3 years and look just as good as the day they arrived, no leaks, no issues.

Very helpful bunch. I had some problems putting the two halves of the radiator together but they did everything they could to fix the problem as quick as possible.

Good product at fair price great customer service

Charging incredible amount to return a product, taking into account that the original delivery was not smooth either.

Radiator packaging and delivery was first class, the driver even brought it all the way to the front door.
Also the radiator looks great and works perfect.

Ordered cast iron feet but they were too small for my radiator. Contacted customer service requesting return but they refused as just out of 2 week window. I understand I was outside of time limit but not by a huge amount, product is unused and I was paying for the return. Very poor customer service will not use again and would not recommend.

Have been contacted by Trads customer service who have agreed a refund once the item is returned. Had not expected a reply or such a positive outcome. Thank you for the excellent follow up.

10/10 experience using Trads, would 100% recommend and use again. Considering how much of a pain I was as a customer (changing colours and sizes quite a few times!) customer service was one of the best I've experienced and all my requests were accommodated quickly. Special mention to Eve who was great to deal with. Thank you!

The product arrived very swiftly and the radiator is now fixed perfectly to the wall. There were no installation instructions in the box or the dispatch note - luckily I had printed them out from the time of ordering, and we had one the same already attached to another radiator that my decorator could copy.

This was my first purchase from Trads and couldn't have been better, the website was clear and easy to navigate. I received step by step notifications as the radiator went through the different stages of manufacture. The delivery was on the requested day and extremely well packed on a pallet.... I also received a little tub of touch up paint, just in case. This is just the purchasing experience.... the rad is perfect too... lovely quality.
They do warn you on the website...even small rads are very heavy... they are cast iron after all. Many thanks.
