We decided to use Origin as the windows and doors for a full house refurbishment and after visiting the Origin website contacted Toucan as they were listed as a premium partner.

Our experience with Toucan has been shambolic.

Communication and customer service from the owner and main point of contact was surprisingly bad, often not responding to or answering calls and emails as well as hanging up on the building contractor mid-conversation – leading to issues including site preparation for installation.

Toucan would often just no-show to site for confirmed days rescheduling for a further week then no-showing again. Very odd way to run a company.

The workmanship was equally questionable. Pretty much every room in the house had at least one manufacturing issue with windows incorrect sizes, openers the wrong way, mechanisms missing – each time Toucan, eventually, admitting fault and re-ordering from Origin. Toucan passed blame to Origin, but Origin has since described their ordering process and evidence of how Toucan had to be responsible.

The quality of installation was inconsistent too with different fitters being employed, I suspect Toucan struggle to retain staff.

After the last no-show we had an independent company audit the works carried out by Toucan to date. The evaluation report was unsurprisingly negative.

We have since terminated our agreement with Toucan and employed another company to re-do their work where needed to a professional standard as well as complete the works Toucan failed to turn up for. The customer service from the new company is night and day vs Toucan.

We found Toucan's office manager Kelly both courteous and professional to deal with.

Toucan stored our doors at their warehouse for an extended period – aside from this it’s very much Toucan’t than Toucan and I would advise anyone to seriously consider alternative suppliers.

Aaron & Harry both came out to install some new parts on our bifold doors, they were both very polite and friendly. Explained the process they needed to follow and completed the work to a high standard, they even cleaned the windows for me!

We’ve just had two windows replaced by Toucan. We were very impressed by the quality, fitting, in fact the whole experience. Would definitely recommend.

Rob and his team did a great job from start to finish. They were reliable, professional and easy to deal with and the standard of the installation was very good. We’re particularly pleased with how everything has been finished and how much of a difference the new windows and doors have made to both the annexe and the house.

Via their website, I asked Toucan Glass for an estimate to replace an existing roof lantern, approximately 2m by 1m. I received an estimate from staff member Alison via email attachment. I responded with thanks indicating that we were waiting on one other estimate prior to a decision. A few weeks afterwards a member of staff called me to ask if Toucan were still being considered for the job. I replied yes. Having discussed the decision process with my partner, we decided we had one or two questions but would prefer a face to face visit.

I called Toucan and spoke to Rob. He arranged for us to visit the premises in Ashford and to have a chat. We attended the appointment as arranged. We discussed the roof lantern and showed him photographs. During the meeting Rob indicated that he needed to check the figures in the estimate signed by himself. This was a little odd, but wasn’t necessarily a major concern as it was an estimate and so we moved onto arranging a day for the site visit. Rob said he had availability that week and we agreed a site visit time of between 10am and 12noon on Thursday 21st May. We arranged our day to ensure we would be in that morning and also cleared access to the flat roof and got the ladder out from the garage.

We waited for Rob to arrive on the Thursday, but he didn’t attend. At 12.15pm, I emailed Alison (also copying in others from her original message) asking if Rob was still attending today. I received no reply. I then emailed again the following day and I quote.. “Not sure where we are? Is Rob unwell? Things were left somewhat in the air yesterday and we did stay in specifically during the hours he said he would be here. Please advise”. Again I have received no reply (now 29th).

In summary, we:
1. Evaluated companies for a direct replacement of our roof lantern.
2. Decided on Toucan Glass
3. Arranged a meeting with Rob Beckett.
4. Drove to Ashford from Canterbury to meet Rob and arranged a site visit.
5. Received no call or email from him when he didn’t turn up.
6. Contacted the office on the day asking if Rob still intended to visit and received no response.
7. Contacted Alison the following day asking for an update and again received no response.

How you the reader may judge these facts should you wish to consider them, is entirely up to you. However, the way it comes across to us is a complete lack of respect towards Toucan customers. A complete disregard for our time. A complete lack of courtesy and a complete lack of professionalism. For whatever reason, it would appear that Rob had decided our job simply wasn’t of sufficient interest and that frankly he couldn’t be bothered to inform us that he wouldn’t attend, nor offer any follow up explanation.

The windows themselves are fantastic: beautifully made, energy-efficient and just what the client was after.

BEWARE
BEWARE - do not trust. I took Rob Beckett to court. He charged me £10,000 VAT when he shouldn’t have. Instead of paying this to HMRC or paying me back he pocketed the money. I received judgement however could not enforce as he immediately put the company into liquidation. No warranty, no comeback, no integrity

As you can see from his website, he removes negative reviews, hence the low score. Keep in mind we won our court case so he still owes us £10,000 yes £10,000 pounds

Rob the boss is absolutely wonderful. From start to finish he has guided us in everything. We have ended up with a pristine job. Windows, bifolds, front door and porch. His work is second to none....he is very conscientious and wr are so pleased with everything.

My experience with Toucan was really good , I’d definitely recommend them. I’d chosen my door style (Origin Soho) and Toucan were suggested as the most local to supply and fit. The order process was remarkably quick and installation happened exactly when scheduled. The guys worked like crazy on the install day and cleared up after themselves. Seamless! Very happy with the results.

When I ever I choose to refurbish a different home over the years, I am always particular about not just the choice of a product, but also of the finish.
When I was looking for bi-folds & windows I contacted Toucan, as they are a premier fitter of quality windows by Origin, which what I was looking for. Their understanding of my requirements & their advice accordingly shone through in the initial face to face meeting we had. A key aspect that reassured of my choice to go with them.
Various welcomed discussions continued right up to the day of fitting, which followed on detailed surveys on site.
For the duration of the actual fitting, I witnessed both precision & attention to detail in how their installation took place, such that the finished result was indeed excellent.
Not just that, their tidiness on site both during and after shows the extent of a quality service.
Rob & his team proved to be both diligent & exceptional through the whole process from start to finish.
So would I recommend Toucan (and Origin windows & doors) & use them again? - certainly. And have already made a recommendation to a friend.

From first point of contact to installation, Rob and team have been efficient and professional and the installation is of a high standard. Touchan glass have a good show room, which meant we could go and see the exact doors we wanted, which is important when parting with a large sum of money. Rob listened to what we were after and tailored the design to our requirements onsite, as a result Origin OB36 doors look particularly good.

Toucan now on our third project together and we just about to agree two more orders. Would highly recommend.

We had all of our glazing fitting by Toucan. From start to finish, everything was made easy and clear! From the measuring up processes to the installation, everything was very well organised and even at times when we changed our mind on certain areas throughout the project, they were always accommodating.

Having worked with Rob on multiple project, his work is always of the right standard, efficient and cost effective. Would always recommend.

I was really impressed with the Company’s efficiency. I was looking for a front door and I was given a wide range of styles and colours to choose from at competitive prices. I was advised by Rob that if I had my door fitted the other way around, then I would have more space in my porch.
The Company turned up on time, and fitted by door, making a few adjustments and tidied up after themselves.
I now have a lovely, solid front door and a porch that now has more room.
I thoroughly recommend this Company. You won’t be disappointed
