Review of Tom.co.uk – Serious Concerns About Phone Harassment ⚠️

After entering my phone number on Tom.co.uk to request a quote, I have been receiving persistent nuisance calls throughout the day. This is highly suspicious because I normally do not receive scam calls, and I have EE Scam Gaurd enabled, which usually blocks them.

The numbers that have contacted me include:
• 0808 189 1512
• 0117 205 6348
• 07441 917367
• 07441 917379
• 0808 189 1477

Several of these numbers appear online in connection with telephone scams, and the timing immediately after submitting my details is extremely concerning.

One caller (0808 189 1477) claimed to be from SKY regarding insurance for SKY equipment. The caller had a polite Indian/Pakistani accent and claimed her name was “Victoria.” When challenged about her identity and employer, she insisted she worked for SKY but quickly hung up when questioned further. This strongly suggested a scam attempt.

I have checked some of these numbers online and found reports describing them as active scam calls, often originating from overseas call centres.

Given that I almost never receive scam calls, it is extremely suspicious that these calls began immediately after submitting my number for a quote.

It appears that many other people report similar experiences, which raises serious concerns about how customer data is handled. Either:
• Their systems may be compromised
• Customer data may be mishandled internally
• Or personal data may be shared with third parties without adequate safeguards

Any of these possibilities represent a serious failure of data protection responsibilities under GDPR.

I strongly advise anyone considering using this site to think carefully before providing personal details.

I was genuinely interested in life insurance, so made a mistake of giving out my contact details. They obviously sell your details on to third party's who bombard you constantly. I thought this company (tom) was genuine but no better than the rest unfortunately. So now blocking number after number, trying to get a bit of peace and quiet. I refuse to deal with any company that sells my details onto third partys, this is borderline harassment at this point.

Brilliant experience l, had a call with Daniel Platt who was great, friendly, transparent and really explained all the process. For context I had a really bad experience a couple weeks back with a broker so was a bit hesitant but had no need to be at all, went through everyone openly and in plain English talked about options and pulled the trigger on the call with no silly sales stuff or pushy expectations - happily recommend these guys!

Filled out the contact form on the website. Had a phone within a few hours. Spoke with Julian Saunders, great mannerisms and rapport building. Wasn't pushy at all, steered the conversation in a nice flow which eventually made me decide to purchase insurance. Phone call was long to no fault of his own, just a lot of regulatory and unnecessary scripting but he was clear. Happy I'm now protecting my family.

Lewis is an outstanding person to talk to about life insurance. As someone who knew little to nothing about life insurance, he talked me through it step by step. Even talked me through the best options for me and my family, we had a genuine conversation about life and children as I have a little one on the way and just made me feel all around comfortable. 10/10 service

Had a phone call this morning with Lewis Routley, he was friendly and very knowledgable. I didn’t feel under any pressure to buy a policy and I didn’t feel like I was being upsold more policy than I needed. I gathered a range of quotes for my life insurance and my policy from Lewis with TOM felt right for my family’s needs. Hopefully I never need to use it but it feels nice to have in place.

Well i decided to look at life insurance got a call back from Emily Lewis @ Tom we had several conversations over the course of a week honestly excellent answered every question & there was a lot of them she definitely knew her stuff so friendly , professional , super helpful, very patient, I’m actually really happy with the plan we came up with now I’m covered with what I required & a cost I’m happy with Emily you were a star thank you very much 😊

I’ve been using Tom for a long time now and recently called to add my partner to the contract. Lewis Routley was absolutely brilliant — he sorted everything out quickly and made the whole process really easy. His level of customer service is next level, and I honestly wish everyone on the phone was like him! Outstanding service all round.

Clicked an advert on social media and was looking just to get a rough quote for life insurance. Made me add my details to proceed which should have been a red flag immediately.

I am not getting, no exaggeration, about 15 calls a day from them. I am ignoring them all and blocking the numbers but they clearly use software to generate a new number every time they call to get around this. I have emailed them to tell them to stop calling me and to remove my number but no reply.

Don’t use this company if you don’t want to be harassed! Would never go with them now even if they were the best provider.
