There is a lot of GOOD that came out of my experience with Todd's Services. The job was originally new pavers and stairs in FRONT and BACK of my home. The price was well above our budget, however my wife and I decided that we would replace the back yard patio and stairs to the walk out basement. PRICE was still a bit steep, but we liked the salesman and the product.
Job started later than we would have liked, but it started with the knowledge that it would be a 2 week project.
At the onset, we spoke of a possible "add on" pathway through our garden which was ballparked at around 3K.
When the work began, the "add on" was approved and the guys started work. My yard was torn apart immediately, but the agreement called for lawn restoration with SOD, SEED and HAY. As the project went on, my yard was destroyed even in areas that the work was NOT being done.
At that point, the salesman (Andrew) said that Todd's was going to cover the lawn repair. Then went on to say that it would be "Seed and Hay" only. I understood that decision because the area of lawn that was destroyed was much greater than 80 SQ FT of SOD could cover.
The crew worked pretty hard when they were working, but did seem to take a lot of breaks. The days were hot, so I didn't make a big deal about it. Just noticed that some of their breaks lasted a good 30 minutes in addition to their lunch break. (AGAIN, not a big deal. 2 Weeks for the project apparently included their breaks).
There were two days in particular that I awaited the crew's arrival and they did not show up. The first time, there was no rain in the forecast and had to contact the office to find out that the crew would NOT be in that day. The second time, there was a 10% chance of rain. When the crew did not show up, I checked my phone and then my email to find out that they would not be showing up.
At the end of the 2 weeks, the project was not complete and I was told that it would be a couple more days to complete the following week.
They did finish the following week and OVERALL, my wife and I are very pleased with the workmanship of the new patio and stairs as well as the path through the garden area.
What I am not pleased with was the lawn restoration. While I made concessions to forego the SOD since I was told that Todd's Service's was going to "Take care of it". My final bill included a lawn restoration charge of $1,700!!! I'm not sure exactly how much seed and hay I can purchase for that amount of money, but I would guess that I could have purchased what they provided for about $200.
They also failed to use "Full Sun Grass Seed" as there is no shade in the area that was destroyed. As for the Hay...I live in the country. I could get a few bails of hay from my neighbor for FREE or no more than $20. YEP...$1,700 to toss grass seed and hay down which I have to water 3 times a day. I am not happy with the "Lawn Restoration" that was promised to me at no charge only to pay a great deal. KNOWING that I will have to purchase another solution to repair the lawn.
Finally, the subject of the walkway through the garden. I realize that (Andrew) was ball parking and spit balling a price of 3K. However, it showed up on my final invoice at 10K. So more that 3 TIMES his ballpark was what I was charged. Ball parking 3K and being charged 4 or even 5, I could have lived with. I questioned it and received no direct contact. Not even a phone call. I received an email stating that grass will sprout in a week or two and no comment on the excessive pricing on the walkway.
Had they done what they SAID they were going to do and CHARGED what they SAID they would charge, this would be a 5-Star review.
Would I use them again? NOPE!!! There were questionable business practices, unfulfilled promises, lack of follow-up, very little communication and when they finished with me, they forgot me and simply moved on unconcerned with my satisfaction for the job.

Cannot really review their services because after initial call they never called back.

We recently built a new house on a vacant 2.25-acre parcel of land. Shortly after moving in, we hired a landscape architect to prepare a landscape plan/design and drawing for us, including a detailed list of all plants and materials. Our plan was to submit that landscape plan to several high-quality and experienced landscaping companies so we could get apples-to-apples and comparable bids.

The scope of this project was huge. Our house sits on a 2.25 acre piece of land in Farmington Hills. Much of the property was just open land area filled with super-tall weeds. There were also many areas of densely-packed and overgrown vegetation and undergrowth, which were a mixture of thick climbing vines, thorny shrubs and many dead or dying trees. Moreover, the unevenness of the ground required lots of machine grading and the installation of hundreds of yards of soil. The project necessitated a huge amount of "cleanup" before the true landscaping could even start. In addition to the plantings, we also needed a patio, outdoor kitchen and firepit installed. We also needed two irrigation systems installed (one for city water and a separate one for the irrigation well) and landscape lighting. All were part of the project and bidding process.

We contacted five companies seeking a bid to implement our landscape design plan. We obtained price quotes from all of them, and all were in the same rough ballpark, which was about $250,000. That is an outrageous number, but it was consistent among the different competitors, and this was, after all, a huge project.

Todd's Services was the most responsive company that we contacted. They set up a meeting within a day of our initial contact. Todd (not "the" Todd of Todd's Services, but an awesome Todd nonetheless) met me at the house, and we walked through the project. He was extremely knowledgeable and answered all of my questions. Not only that, he mentioned that he had some ideas that could save money by making small tweaks to our existing landscape design. He assured me that, based on his experience, those modifications would result in large costs savings without impacting the final result. It was obvious to me that Todd and his company knew exactly what they were doing and had the resources to do such a large project.

After carefully reviewing all of the bids we received and meeting on-site with each company, we decided to go with Todd's Services. That was the best decision we ever made! It was an easy decision because Todd's Services was the most responsive company, has awesome communication and had some excellent ideas for improving the landscape design in way that would save us money. Todd's Service's was able to cut nearly $35,000 off the cost of the project without compromising quality. Not only that, they had the resources and equipment needed for the project.

Everyone (without exception) who works at Todd's Services is extremely professional, polite, and accommodating. The crew was simply amazing--meticulous, clean, prompt, accurate, professional, and detailed. A special shout out to CHRIS and JOEY who busted their butts on the project. And another shout out to KEVIN who installed the outdoor grill and fire pit and also helped design and implement the vast irrigation system for the entire 2+ acre area. Kevin also designed and installed the landscape lighting system, which literally has people stopping their cars while driving by to admire it.

Given the breadth of the project, it took nearly two months of hard work by Todd's Services to transform our property from a muddy, overgrown field into a beautiful home with a gorgeous yard. Todd's Services always had a crew of at least four people on site working, and many days had about ten people on the project. They installed hundreds of plants and full-sized trees (there were so many plants, in fact, that at least two semi-trucks made deliveries). It was a constant buzz of hardworking people working nonstop on the project. I was impressed how the crews always arrived on time each day and how they left the job site clean and tidy every evening when they left. The end result is incredible.

In fact, the team is so customer-focused that they even ran to the rescue of my daughter who got stuck in the mud of the yard walking home from school.

We HIGHLY recommend this company!! The customer service is impeccable. From the first visit all the way up to every interaction, you can tell these people care and take pride in their work.
