I have been looking for a Virtual Assistant on and off for a couple of years, but have not been able to find something that is affordable, flexible, and able to deliver what I need. I have been with Time Etc. for three weeks, and I have been very encouraged and pleased. Time provides a helpful onboarding experience and assigns a Client Happiness Consultant to guide you through the process. My CHC, Nardia, has been great. She's been available to help with anything that I have needed. She was incredibly helpful in the process of matching me with potential VAs. I found two great options in my first two interviews. I'm not sure if that's normal, but Time provided several good options to choose from, and I was able to find my VA rather quickly. Time also provides a video series with short, concise tips for how to make the best use of your VA from the beginning. In two weeks, my VA has developed a task management system that fits how I best process goals, projects, and tasks. I have been trying different task management systems for four years and have not found something that works well for me. This new system is going to increase my effectiveness and decrease wasted time in significant ways. My VA has also begun managing my email inbox and expense reports. Additionally, he is working on taking over two more important tasks that are necessary, but draining for me.
One aspect of Time's system that I really appreciate is that my VA logs in and out every time he works on a task or project for me. I know what he worked on, when he worked on it, and how long he worked on it, down to the second.
A second thing that I appreciate about Time is that they provide guidance on how to create an environment of positive and critical feedback from the beginning. This helps insure that work is being done well and that the VA learns what you expect from them and how they can best work with you. My Client Happiness Consultant, Nardia, has also been checking in to make sure things are going well, and to help navigate feedback, if needed.
Another feature that I like but haven't needed is that I can switch VAs anytime I want without having to invest the time and energy navigating a messy breakup. Time helps take care of all of that on their end.
Here is a little insight as to the investment I have made over the last three weeks from the point of interviewing potential VAs to today. I have invested an average of 4 to 6 hours per week choosing the VA, familiarizing myself with Time's system and platform, and helping my VA get started. This has only been for three weeks, and will decrease as the VA and I continue to learn how to work together more effectively. But it is necessary for the successful onboarding and partnership of your VA to invest a decent amount of time helping them learn how to best work with you. You could also spread this time out over a longer period of time. I chose to dive in right away and invest as much as possible on the front end. It's paying off in significant ways already.

There are essentially two services running through Time Etc:
1. Your assistant
2. Customer management
#2 is fully in their control. And they work hard to make sure their customers are happy. Five start treatment.
On the other hand, #1 can be difficult. I've invested some time in some duds. But I've had sustained help from two stellar assistants.

We’ve had 4 assistants with Time Etc. Within two different companies. None have worked out entirely. Although 1 did better than the others and I think has potential with the right management.
One quit without telling anyone and not even Time Etc knew she stopped working for them, for weeks. We found out only once customers started calling saying they couldn’t get a hold of her. With weeks of work incomplete and no clear sense for what was what, Time etc’s response was not great initially. They completely ignored the discussion and instead just send a casual email asking us to pick another assistant. They didn’t call or try to discuss outstanding work, status etc.
Another assistant just kept telling us each week why they couldn’t get done with the work from the previous week. It always seemed to be a misunderstanding. When we let them go, both Time Etc and them were confused.
Another, we only assigned one task type and it needed to be done daily. It was a 20min task when she would perform it. We would constantly learn she was weeks behind on it. We would ask her for a daily email just so we knew it was done. She’d send the email for the 1st couple days and then just stop. The funny thing was, our hours were always used somehow.
Time etc as a company doesn’t have an answer mostly. They don’t seem to manage the staff. They don’t have good systems to know what’s going on with the team or work. We've grown suspicious of their screening and question whether its all they claim. The assistants often don’t have common software or the skills Time etc boasts. When there’s an issue, Time etc's first response is typically just an offer to change the assistant and “start over” leaving the training and catch up to be the client's burden.
They market well but performance has really struggled. With the changes of assistants, expiring of unused hours and little management, we've grown frustrated after quite a bit of patience and effort to resolve before cancelling.
I keep thinking it was me until other staff and a second company brought time etc on and had the same experiences.
The one thing they did seem to respond to was the cancellation. At that point, they reached out to see what they could do to help reduce the burden of the experience and the time lost. In fact, at that point, a particular Tine Etc manager stepped in and worked pretty darn hard to see that the experience ended differently than it had been. Over the final several weeks, they were helpful, involved, looked after the work that needed to be closed out, followed up to see that work was being transferred back to us and communicated frequently. We were grateful in the end for the effort to finish strong despite our ultimate cancellation. We hope they can make the necessary adjustments so that they and their clients can thrive in this much needed space.
