Great introduction followed by great instruction.

Landrover experience

The instructor was excellent and incredibly patient as I was quite useless at driving the Landrover over the terrain.

It was great to see what the vehicle can do even with my limitations! I have never driven over terrain like that and probably never will again but I’m pleased I did it!

Well organised, friendly and helpful staff throughout, and a unique experience to drive different cars around a proper race track.

The Porsche Cayman driving experience was run very efficiently, from initial registration, through the safety briefing and to the track time. My instructor, Colin, an experienced racing driver, was excellent - providing guidance regarding the quirks of the car and of course to the racing lines of the track, while also encouraging me to explore the car's ample capabilities! The subsequent high speed passenger ride in the Toyota Corolla was an added bonus - particularly as I didn't have to wait (as so often is the case with driving experience days). All in all a definite 5-star driving experience... that passed far too quickly!

Great choice of cars to drive and really good quality of instruction. Circuit is very fast and great experience overall.

For birthdays, I like to think I absolutely nail the gifts—none of this “here’s a candle and a panic-bought box of chocolates” nonsense. I go for experiences… the kind you can’t forget (even if you try).

So for my auntie’s 60th, I booked us a Thruxton off-road 4x4 driving experience—her, her two sisters (including my mum), and me. What could possibly go wrong?

Now, booking things like this is always a bit of a gamble… but I can honestly say it turned out to be one of the best days we’ve had in years.

A big part of that is just us as a family—we don’t take life (or each other) seriously. The humour is relentless, the banter is ruthless, and there is absolutely no mercy… especially if you mess up.

Which brings me nicely to… me.

I haven’t driven a manual car in YEARS. So naturally, I was put straight into a manual Land Rover that handles like a tractor with attitude. My driving style? Let’s call it “kangaroo chic.” The throttle and I were not on speaking terms, and at one point I’m pretty sure the car was considering reporting me.

The fact we made it around the track without needing a rescue team is nothing short of a miracle.

We laughed so much I’m surprised we didn’t have to pull over for a breather (or to let me recover what was left of my dignity).

But the real star of the show was our instructor, Colin. Absolute legend. Patient (he had to be), kind, really knowledgeable—but most importantly, he had a cracking sense of humour and fully got stuck into the banter. He didn’t just tolerate us… he encouraged it, which probably says a lot about him 😂

If you’ve ever thought about doing something like this but weren’t quite sure—DO IT. You’ll either discover a hidden talent… or, like me, discover you absolutely do not have one—but you’ll have the best time anyway.

And definitely ask for Colin. Trust me, he deserves a medal after dealing with us.

Massive thanks to Thruxton for an unforgettable day—we’ll be laughing about it for years (mainly at my expense, obviously).

ARDS course- Great friendly and relaxed approach from the instructors. We had David who took us through the written exam and on track exam. Great guy and very helpful

Superb instruction from Andy Steele, neither derogatory or hugely praising, just great detail and honest observation. Cracking Alpine to drive and the high speed lap with Andy was thrilling. Two Seat racing car with Ben was stunning and showed me the capability of the car and the resilience of the drivers, how do they manage a whole race???

So today my 2 sisters and 38 year old niece and I had the best laugh ever !!
Colin , our trusted instructor helped us navigate and kangaroo jump the whole circuit 🙄…. Even if we did have to stop at times to take a deep breath 🤣.
Cannot recommend this highly enough , teaches you so much as anyone who’s driven an “old Landy” will tell you … you have to drive it , slow and steady and most important LISTEN to Colin 😉. Thanks for a brilliant morning

The staff and people helping out were brilliant .made you very welcome and the family were very impressed who came to watch me on my 60th were impressed with the cafe and the very clean facilities.great day out.

I did the skid pan in my own car, the surface was kind to my tyres. The instructor was professional and had a good sense of humour to put you at bbc ease.

Great morning at Thruxton. Staff were friendly and everything ran on time. The drivers/instructors were brilliant. Also there was plenty of space to watch the cars from the balcony. Food in the cafe was really good too.

Great, friendly people, high experienced insctructors. I have enjoyed every minute there :)

Very happy with the experience. Everything was smooth and really professional. I felt safe and I had great fun on all the tracks and experiences.

The experience was unforgettable a fantastic experience. Everyone at Thruxton did all they could to make sure I had a great time, everyone was friendly and welcoming.Special mentions for Gary the instructor in the McLaren 570S. Gary not only made me feel at ease he also actively encouraged me to go as fast as possible, he was just so positive about everything. I would also like to thank the driver of the Ride car that took myself and 3 other members of my family for a thrilling ride around the track after my McLaren drive. All in all a superb day out made all the better by all the staff at Thruxton.
