Expensive and not fun
I booked a trip for 2 adults with my partner and we waited in the queue for hours just to get in and by the time we were in , we had to wait again to get on the rides as the queues were long as well
Some of the rides were broken - a waste of money and time
RACIST SECURITY AT THORPE PK
My son went on a work party with legoland tonight and when walking back to his managers vehicle and was attacked by 10 security team of THORPE PARK in a RACIST attack!
My son was handcuffed beaten up kicked punched in the ribs pushed several times by kicking him in the back to the ground and called a PAKI by 10 security team with his friend/work colleague.
Absolutely disgusting how a young Asian lad has got treated on Thorpe park grounds. This is being followed up with legoland and police.
Pictures/videos taken along with most of the staff witnessed this all .
WELL DONE THOPE PARK ANOTHER RACIST ATTACK BY YOUR SECURITY TEAM.
I CERTAINLY WOULD NOT LET MY SON GO EVER AGAIN TO THORPE PK !!!!!
Very long queues and poor service
Very long queues. Broken down rides. Fixed, then broken. All through the day. Far too expensive for the very poor standard of service. Would not recommend to anyone.
Thorpe Park does not care about disabled people
We stayed at the hotel and having a room inside the park was brilliant even though it was the smallest hotel room I have ever seen in my life. We were extremely cramped with two people, I can't imagine an entire family having to stay in one of these. And the bathroom was a small shower with a toilet in it so we were unable to use the shower at all. I would really not recommend staying there if you want to be comfortable.
The park itself is very impressive and the few rides we got to try out were incredible. However, we could only get on rides first thing in the morning. The rest of the day the park was completely overcrowded with lines of 2-3 hours for a single ride. And there is very little else going on in the park, like shows or smaller rides, for a break from waiting in the insane lines for the big rides. So I think a day here would be a pretty disappointing experience for anyone.
But for those with a disability, their approach is pretty criminal. My daughter is autistic and unable to be confined in long lines. We have been to theme parks in several different countries and, while they have some different approaches, they have generally been extremely accommodating and we have been able to really enjoy those trips. So I checked and saw that Thorpe Park had a "Ride Access Pass"; we had to fill out some applications, etc. but received a confirmation of the Ride Access and booked flights and a hotel stay at the park.
When we arrived, we found out that, yes, we were approved for a "Ride Access Pass ID" - but this only allows us to pre-book a "Ride Access Pass" which is needed to use the disability lines at the park on the day you are there. Oh, and apparently there are no "Ride Access Passes" available for ANY day in 2024 OR 2025! The reason for this is that Thorpe Park does not want too many disabled people enjoying their park.
This was pretty disgusting in and of itself but the reason for this became apparent later in the day when we realized that the "Ride Access" and the "Fast Pass" share the same lines. Can you guess if the Fast Pass was available for purchase? Of course it was! They seem to have unlimited Fast Passes available so the message is pretty clear. Feel free to come if you're disabled, but pay us even more money if you want to manage your disability.
The people that run this company clearly do not understand disability access - or they just don't care and are driven solely by greed. Either way, they should have a clear disclaimer on their website that they are NOT accessibility friendly. I will make sure to tell this to everyone I know and I will avoid any Merlin parks in the future.
My first visit... And last
My first visit. What a rundown overpriced cesspit. Parts of the place looked quite derelict or abandoned. £42 per fright night ticket + £24 per person for fright night mazes (why are they not included in the entry price?) then £12 to park? £4.75 for a small coffee? Rides I can't comment on as I was wasn't willing to queue for half our visit to go on just one. 270min wait for the one I would have gone on! Overall what an awful experience. Never again.
Disgusting Rooms at Thorpe Park Shark Cabins – Charged Disney Rates for Subpar Accommodation
I recently booked a stay at the Thorpe Park Shark Cabins, expecting a quality experience, especially with the high rates that rival Disney prices. Unfortunately, what I encountered was shocking. My room (No. 119) was filthy, with visible mold growing on the door frames, bathroom walls, and bedroom walls. The entire cabin smelled of mildew, and the dampness was so severe that both the mattresses and bedding were wet to the touch.
Sleeping on a wet bed with damp bedding felt unsanitary and unacceptable, and we left that first night because the conditions were unlivable. Even my 13-year-old asked to leave because it was so wet and uncomfortable—unusual for a teenager at a theme park! The mold and dampness posed a real health hazard, particularly for anyone with respiratory issues. While Disney’s “under-the-sea” rooms are dry and delightful, Thorpe Park’s Shark Cabins seemed to take the theme a bit too literally by giving us a room that felt like it was actually underwater.
The staff were kind and did their best to assist, but since they were fully booked, we couldn’t be moved to another room. Later, Thorpe Park offered fast-track passes as compensation, but this doesn’t address the unsanitary conditions we encountered or the fact that I paid premium rates for a room that wasn’t fit for guests. They seem to bank on parents feeling guilty about their children missing out so that they don’t properly address the substandard conditions.
If Thorpe Park is going to charge Disney-level prices, they need to ensure clean, comfortable, and safe accommodations. Until these serious issues are resolved, I can’t recommend the Shark Cabins to anyone.
“An Absolute Disappointment for Disabled Visitors” BEWARE
“An Absolute Disappointment for Disabled Visitorss
I recently visited Thorpe Park, and my experience was truly disappointing. I had called both Thorpe Park and Merlin a few weeks in advance to confirm what accommodations were available for disabled guests, as I have a blue badge due to a spinal injury. They advised me to buy a ticket, enter the park, and then visit customer relations. However, when I arrived, I was informed that I needed to pre-book disability assistance online. Despite explaining that I’d been told otherwise over the phone, the manager Jack simply shrugged and said they couldn’t help with the “incorrect information” I received. I even asked if I could get a refund, given that I hadn’t yet experienced any of the park, but they refused.
Desperate for a solution, I tried to buy fast-track tickets to avoid standing in long queues, but they were sold out. Even if they were available, I was told they would cost £15 per ride. Expecting disabled visitors to pay extra for accessibility is, in my opinion, discriminatory and disheartening. Queue times for popular rides stretched to over two hours – completely unreasonable for someone with mobility issues. This place prioritizes profit over guest experience and seems indifferent to disabled visitors’ needs. and they even charge £12 to park a disability car
It’s clear that Thorpe Park is no longer the enjoyable, inclusive place it once was. If you have a disability, avoid this park – they will not accommodate you without extra cost, and the staff showed no compassion or flexibility. It’s a shame to see such a beloved.
Yet again a complete disaster visiting…
Yet again a complete disaster visiting Thorpe Park in the school holidays, the park is totally oversubscribed with ridiculous queuing times. Unless you are prepared to pay for fast passes at £60.00 for 5 rides per child I strongly suggest you do NOT visit.
Good if you go out of holidays
Good if you go out of holidays
People writing bad reviews went in busy periods, never going to be 30 minute queues in half terms and weekends. I've been several times this year my last visit was actually 31st August, we didn't wait longer then 50 minutes. Rides at this park are fantastic for thrill seekers. Hyperia is brilliant
Great rides, terribly managed
In terms of rides, it's great. Love Stealth, Swarm, Hyperia.
In terms of an experience, it's terrible. Queue for 30mins+ to get through security. Queue 2 hours for any ride. Get a few rides in and then queue for another half an hour to get out of the car park, which you've paid an extra £12 for the pleasure of.
On my recent visit we managed to get 5 rides done, in the 11 hours we spent at the park - and one of those was a fast track that we paid an extra £40 for.
Was planning our next trip for soon after opening next year but really not going to bother.
Park management don't care about the issues because they're still making £££ because people are still willing to go. Only solution seems to be to not encourage them by attending, which is a shame because as I said it could be a great park.
1 * is too much for this badly run…
1 * is too much for this badly run resort. I spent £1000 + for my son and his 3 friends to stay there on 27th/28th October for Fright Night to celebrate his 18th birthday. Total waste of money - paid £50 for early check-in at Shark Cabins but they were turned away and told to come back at 3 pm - eventually, they were allowed in 30 mins earlier after his Dad speaking to reception. Immature staff who appear to have no training/knowledge and were overwhelmed by the number of people/queries. Despite having tickets the boys were refused Fast Track and entry to the Fright Mazes probably £400+ of extras The park has sold so many tickets so even with the Fast Track queues are over 200 minutes - pure greed.
When trying to call the resort to try and sort this out I was informed that the telephone lines were taking a well-earned break.
Merlin you should be ashamed of yourselves - your obvious mission statement is quantity over quality - I was conned out of £1000 and god knows about the other 10's of 1000s other visitors you have sold tickets to who were probably lucky to get on a ride.
Anyone reading this steer clear
Absolutely terrible !!!
Absolutely terrible !!!
We arrived at 10:00am and at 1:00pm we have been on 1 ride.
We have now been told the current ride we are in the queue for is 3 hours 20 mins !!!!
Two rides so far are broken and cannot perform to full capacity.
I would NEVER return. Waist of money and time.
Do Not go if you want a good fun day
Basically a youth centre! Disgusting and waste of money!
Hours to wait for rides, Kids gangs of them running everywhere, swearing cursing pushing people fighting. Trying to pickpocket us as well. Police everywhere security paramedics because it was just chaotic. Not a reassuring sign of a fun happy place to be. Staff were rude. Not their fault to be honest. They're working this crappy place. Car park was just too full. I had really squeeze by some cars to get out. Overall, please don't waste your money time or emotions. Our kids were very upset by this experience.
Total waste of time and money!!
Total waste of time and money! Emailed Thorpe park to explain my experience of only getting on 1 ride my whole time while visiting Thorpe park. Reply basically was them giving excuse after excuse! queued for ages then was told the ride had technical difficulties so we had to then try and get on another ride. We finally managed after waiting 3.5 hours, and more technical difficulties, to get on hyperia at 9:20. Fright night was anything but! nothing that was advertised was there! If you’re looking for something scary for halloween go to FEAR at Avon Valley.
Also had to park in the mud! Is that not a hint that you’re over capacity?!
Too many people
Too many people
2 hour queues
Broken rides
£12 stealth parking charge
Not much for people that don't like huge rollercosters
Separated from my family for hours while I queue for a 45 second ride.
Not for me thanks.
Waste of money
Travelled 3 hours for a 1 night stay in the shark cabin and two days in the park for scarefest. The ques for the rides are ridiculous and we came home early as we could not bare to que any longer. Some or the rides were closed and we qued for over 90 minutes for most rides.
I will not be returning to Thorpe Park, this is Merlin Attractions being greedy and making money out of people.
Waste of money
Waste of money. Travelled 2 hours to get to thorpe park. Had to wait over an hour just to get in. We managed 2 rides in the whole day. Ques ridiculous. If you want the toilet, be prepared to que. Surely there must be a limit to how many people are allowed in, to give us a chance to get on more rides. Avoid if your travelling a long way to come here. They must make billions out of thrill seekers intending to ride rollercoasters, but only get to ride 2!!! In a whole day. Very upset and will not be returning. Waste of time and money. No fun had.
This is the worst theampark I have ever…
This is the worst theampark I have ever been to, the park looks tired and old, the que times for each ride are horrendous 4 hours to do 2 rides.
Getting into the park an absolute joke
Getting into the park an absolute joke. Appreciate the need for security but this needs to be a lot better & quicker. Extremely frustrating experience & not even inside the park yet!
Boycott, Racist, Racist
Boycott, boycott, boycott.
I will be screaming this to the ends of the earth. My partner whilst on site has received racial biases from other guests and security staff on site and as I go through the reviews, it’s clear that others are experiencing the same.
I was faced with a white male who was being intimidating and was quick to mouth off to me as a woman but as soon as my partner, who is a tall, muscular, black male met him with the same tone, the white male deemed my partner as a threatening individual who point blank told lies about my partner due to his privilege and which also lacks credibility.
Once we gave our account, my opinion and our parties opinion didn’t get to account as “witnesses” even though the other parties group could. We find it absolutely astonishing. I have raised this to customer service, whose response lack empathy, and actual approach to this matter. In fact, they keep continuing with “we work hard with the feedback and will put it back to the security team”. They do not want to actually look at the bigger issue at hand. The security guards were sarcastic, loving the abuse of power and also liked to mention unprovoked, “I have a mixed race girlfriend”. I’m sure those of you who are black, have black family and friends or are in a relationship with a black person understand the complete falseness with this comment and in turn actually makes their perspective clear and worse.
The customer service like to continually remind me : “Thorpe Park have a commitment to zero tolerance of racism” , yet the actions of their staff and their comments during this incident suggest otherwise. If you have this commitment, show me some action against this.
It feels as though the situation has been handled in a way that prioritises the comfort of the other guest over the dignity of my partner.
The security also liked to abuse their power, by telling my partner repeatedly he had no rights whilst on their private land as he filmed the scenario for his safety.
The overall conclusion is, they took an opinion of the white male and when seeing the appearance of my husband, they in-fact took their own perceptions of what a big black man is and threw him out of the park despite the rest of our parties accounts.
As I continue to discuss this further with the customer service team, it’s becoming apparent that rather than tackling the rather awkward conversation at hand of how their staff created an opinion based solely of an account, is chilling.
It seems that anyone that is not white, or of able body is discriminated against and I am absolutely astonished that Merlin nor Thorpe Park are doing anything about it.
