#3 ON MY TOP 5 WORST EXPERIENCES EVER
NIGHTMARE!!! Most stressful experience I’ve ever had regarding a storage unit & this is my 5th time acquiring a storage unit.
I went online to reserve my unit, when doing so I chose the location “New Orleans:” 445 Jefferson HIghway. First, my payment wouldn’t go through online. So, I had to call. (The only positive review I have about this company through my entire grueling experience is that every C.S. (Customer Service) Rep I’ve spoken to has been polite & respectful even when I’ve been less than pleasant.)
The first issue I had on-site was my code not working. A friend of mine had loaded up his SUV with my things & followed me to the location. After spending 20 mins. Of trying to get inside, he was going to be late for work. So, I helped him unload his truck & told him to go ahead & leave, that I’m sure somehow the matter would get resolved. This was a Friday night after office hours around 7pm. When I spoke to CS they told me that a manager would have to get back to me with a new code. After over two hours, & five phone calls to CS later, I still had not heard back from any manager, & I was now over an hour late for work myself. So, I told CS that I was going to put my things into the only unit I could get access to, on the bottom floor right next to the elevator through the first set of doors. Since I drive a small Toyota Corolla, & my car was filled to the brim as it was, I could not fit the things my friend had left with me that he drove over. The following day (Saturday) I came back to move my things into the correct unit I had been assigned. Again, my code wouldn’t work. Unfortunately, it was after office hours again because I work doubles every weekend and I’m in the service industry. I’m in the middle of moving so I had another car load full of stuff to drop off between my shifts. This was the second time I had to sit and wait to try to get into my unit because for whatever reason, the CS reps cannot give me a temp code to get in, I have to wait for a manager to reach out to me. AGAIN, I waited over an hour & got no call, no email from a manager. Finally, another customer showed up so I was able to get into the first set of doors when they used their code. I unloaded my car into the unit I could access by the elevator, put the lock on the door and left. This was the second day in a row I was over an hour late for work because of my storage unit. After that weekend, I had to leave town so a few days later I went back, & I had only gotten ONE call from a manager that following Monday I believe, which I missed. The third time I went back someone was in the office, so I went and told them about the ordeal from the weekend, & she said they had been having trouble with all the codes, not just mine, so she gave me a temp code to use for the time being. When I went to start moving my things to the correct unit, there was a lock already on the unit... (I know—I couldn’t believe it, either) The lady from the office had, of course, already left for the day. So, I figured since I had already unloaded more than half of my things into this bottom unit, that I might as well just switch units and go up in size so that I didn't have to move all of my things all over again to a different unit. While I was out of town, my phone was swiped so all I had was my iPad until I was able to get a new phone from insurance. I emailed the storage center to tell them what had happened, inform them that I would like to switch units and go sizes and ask them to just assign me the unit I was already using. My things had been in it for a week by this point. So, I figured one more day would not make a difference since there was a promo running for “first month rent free” and I had already paid my Insurance and processing fees (and those dont change just because I wanted to change the size of my unit)
Not only did I never received any emails, calls or messages about a new code, I never got a response about my unit. When I checked my account, it was still active but the unit number had not changed. I live over 45 minutes away from the location, so, when I made it back Friday (about a week since the last time I had been there) to go talk to someone, they had already left the office for the day. I found my unit locked with a red lock and a new lock (not my lock) with a note attached to the unit door that read “Unauthorized use of unit. Please see management or stuff will be trashed by 11/21/25.” When I found the note, the date was the 28th. I immediately called and emailed them about the note. They said they would have a manager return my call about my things, but that they didn’t see any note on my account that said my things had been trashed. I called again (Sunday) & not only could they not find my account at first, when they did finally pull it up, they told me it was registered to another location & a mngr would call me back Monday. SO currently idk if my things are safe or sitting in the trash & no one can tell me what’s going on….

Moving to back home has both been exciting and very challenging. Having to put my belongings in storage has not been an easy decision. The moving company has been very hard to manage. Michelle was kind and understanding helping me to choose and be ready with the appropriate unit for when belongings arrive. I appreciate and am grateful for knowledge, grace, and support. She provided me with a sense of ease when I was feeling very overwhelmed.
