Thermohome Solar Anmeldelser 

Recently had a solar panels and batteries installation carried out at my property, whilst the initial sale and installation was pretty good and carried out fairly smoothly (there were a couple of minor issues that were resolved fairly quickly). This was all carried out as part of a cash back deal and with no surprise, this cash back has never materialised to date after various chasing emails (numerous times receiving emails saying it had been paid when it hasn’t). They have even hung up the phone to me when trying to ask over the phone. The customer service of a company that can happily sell and offer “deals” is nothing short of shocking which is a shame considering I am happy with the product I have received as it all seems to be working OK. If I could, I would avoid the use of this company and use another with genuine customer care focus and some form of aftercare! Still chasing….

Edit - after this review had been written, the New MD of the company has been in contact and sorted the issue.

Gemma and the team were very helpful and knowledgeable at Thermohome . When we had the solar panels fitted this was done very professionally the guys fitted in a day and ensured we knew everything we needed to , were all very polite and made sure there was no mess left behind . Very happy overall with the workmanship and any costumer services needed ! Thanks 5*****

Do not recommend.
Pleasant but very pushy sales. Due to change in circumstance had to withdraw from the sale. It took five weeks to get our deposit back after many many telephone calls.Lack of responses to calls. Difficult to get through to company. Failure to action things said. We actually reached a point where we thought we’d been scammed. Unacceptable customer service. Finally got through to someone who did action the refund. Seriously suggest do not use this company.

Sales person was great, we trusted her enough that we actually recommended a friend to them. Big mistake. Throwing lots of stuff at us like 'we are a memebr of this, this and this' we have this certificate and that certificate which not many other companies have' great sales technique as it won us over.

Promised 11 panels and signed the contract. Told her we wanted bird mesh and the cables as hidden as possible. Assured us that this would not be an issue.

After scaffolding erected the surveyor had a very rushed look and said cables could be put in a trench and yes 11 panels.

Day of installation, the installer took one look at the roof within minutes of being there and knew that 11 panels would not fit, also said we could not have the cables in a trench and that they were not told about the bird mesh so had none with them.
Sent them away as the contract we signed could not be upheld.

Pete Done, the national sales manager then came to my home to check what could be done to get the job done that we signed up for. We could only have 9 panels and he said, after looking at the loft hatch that we could have the battery in the loft as this would hide the cables. He said he would send the new proposal that evening which he did not and we had to chase them for it. After receiving it the following day we read over it and signed it the next morning, during this short period of time between receiving and signing, Pete sent us a very aggressive email to sign it and also a phone call where he was very unprofessional, they were the ones at fault so this aggression was uncalled for.

Another installation team arrived and again, issues! The battery could not go in the loft as there was no where to secure it and it would be a fire hazard and this was not checked by Pete. I spent all morning with them trying to come up with a plan. Ryan, who was great, arrived and said we could in fact have the cables in a trench as they can use armored cable. Installation went ahead, it could not be completed in a day and they had to come back. During installation, debris was dropped on our conservatory roof, including a heavy metal rail, i was in there at the time and i had to duck as the noise it made sounded like it had smashed through. No apology or respect! They also broke 10 roof tiles. In all it took them 5 visits to complete the job over the course of a month!

They were constantly asking us to sign the feedback form so they can give us our certificates so was expecting us to give them good feedback and this was before work had even finished (still had to repair our roof which was left exposed to the elements) As requested after clicking No to being satisfied with the work carried out by Thermohome, we had to phone a number, this is now logged as a complaint.
Pete has been very rude to us, calling us difficult to deal with because we wanted everything to be as we discussed at the point of sale and accusing US of causing the delays!! In fact it was Thermohome and their incompetence to actually propose something they can actually follow through with and the embarrassment caused to the installation team because nothing could be done according to the signed contract! The installation team worked very hard with us to come up with a resolution.

Our friends had the same issue. Promised 9 panels but could only have 5 so they cancelled installation completely as only having 5 is a huge difference and would not benefit him as much and now Thermohome are charging them for the scaffolding even though this was again Thermohome's mistake.

Avoid, do your research and find a professional company to fit your solar panels.

Absolute disaster of a company. We hugely regret letting them into our home!

***** in response to your reply. No additional work was carried out, work that was carried out was what we was promised when we signed the contract. You have no grounds for any legal action against us, you never paid us our cashback in full and you mis-sold. We are the ones taking legal action as recommended after seeking legal advice and showing all email correspondence and photo/video evidence etc *******

Excellent experience from the meeting with the salesman through to the team of installers, all of whom were extremely helpful and courteous. Our questions were clearly answered throughout. After the installation was finished they spent time to make sure we fully understood how the system and the app worked.

Can't complain about initial installation but after numerous emails and phone calls seven months have passed and am still waiting for bird mesh to be attached. Indication is that they have no intention of completing work. Bird guard left at property by Thermohome and now attached (by another company)

Just to say what an amazing service we received from the thermo home team,from start to Finnish it was stress free, they were fast afficient very tidy conscious, the scaffolder were great and took the scaffolding down the very next day, all round a good experience, I will be recommending using thermohom👍

Most of the interaction with Thermohome has been good and the result is good but communication of installation schedule and it's impact could have been much better.
We had agreed in dates for scaffolding to go up and I planned my work schedule around this, ensuring I was home on the days access was required but wasn't stuck to. We were told scaffolder would be there on Tuesday or Wednesday for Thursday panel installation but hadn't heard anything by Wednesday afternoon so I needed to chase it. When I contacted Thermohome I was told the scaffolder had issues with his van so all rescheduled for Friday installation.
It also worked out that the scaffolding would need to be placed in our neighbours property and would partially block an access path but we weren't warned of this so needed to quickly negotiate it with them. Thermohome did address this but also told us they scaffolding would be removed at the weekend or following Monday, neither of which happened. It was removed on Thursday so was up for a week in total.

From sales through to installation the service provided by Thermohome has been outstanding. The attention to detail in the design and support throughout could not have been better. This is reflected further in the quality of products they use, which represents the best in the industry. On completion of the installation, in very poor weather conditions, the team provided a comprehensive explanation to the operation of the system which was supported by clear documentation.
Highly recommended.

Great experience with Thermohome, had a good laugh with our salesman and after a very slight hiccup with the scaffolding (which was sorted pretty quickly) the install went very smooth. Great bunch of guys carrying out all of the work and they kept us well informed and up to date.

Great experience from start to finish. Knowledgeable sales guy wasn't pushy in the slightest, was passionate about renewable energy and explained everything in plain English. Good price. Installation happened within a month, all in one day. We were shown how to use the app to monitor our solar efficiency. Would highly recommend Thermohome.

We've received a brilliant service from Thermohome throughout the whole process. Engaging and knowledgeable sales meeting, quick and easy installation booking, and then a professional and efficient installation. Highly recommend!

Very efficient team of installers who did a good, quick installation

So, a very mixed review from me with this company. I suspect I was very unlucky with my experience as the follow up since my horrendous experience has been very good with a full and sincere apology. All is now resolved and the system is working, albeit with a lower generating capacity then originally hoped.

I leave my original review below from 12th January 2025 for reference so anyone else experiencing poor service can see that they are not alone:

Avoid avoid avoid!!!

Had our solar system installed recently. Work was done by a friendly helpful team of installers who appeared to do a good job.

HOWEVER, there were a few issues with the job:

Wrong inverter delivered and installed
Some of the original panels (20% of the total) not considered to be installable due to roof type, despite multiple assurances beforehand and a site survey all saying that it was possible. Of course this might affect the payback time previously given by the company.

Following this we asked questions and the helpful admin staff promised to look into rectifying the issues and we thought all was good and we would pay for the system when properly completed. Maybe we should have noticed the red flags when they started demanding full payment for a system that was not fully completed to our satisfaction or to the spec that we ordered.

A few days later we had an incredibly threatening and bullying phone call from the MD alleging, incorrectly, that we had called his installer incompetent and that as a result he was going to switch off the system and then come round to our property and remove the entire system! He also said "you think you're a Jack the Lad and you haven't even got the money to pay for the system" when we've already paid over 60% of the cost and are still waiting for the job to be finished to our satisfaction, with an updated payback recalculation and invoice for the work actually done.

When my wife rang back he told her "you two had better stay out of my way when I come up".

Is this the sort of business you want to use for your installation? Think carefully before engaging them.

Note to Thermohome: We will gladly update this review (done) if/when you complete the job properly and desist from the threatening behaviour.

I had my panels installed yesterday. The installation team were very efficient and friendly.
They didn't leave until everything was working well.
The installed equipment needed firmware updates, so they have stayed until all was done.
They have also made sure that cables from the roof to the garage ran in the best way.
I was explained how to use the app and what to do next how to register with the energy supplier.
Overall, the job well done, the team very friendly and tidy.

First class professional service from start to finish. Paul came out and explained everything to us and gave us a price straight away. No waiting around for weeks for quotes which was a big plus. Having had solar previously we had a good idea of what we required. The price was very competitive and was offered a very quick installation time as the team were working on our estate. The guys turned up and were very hard working, friendly, polite and very respectful of our property. They fitted solar panels, batteries, inverter, along with the necessary electrical work neatly and effectively. They left the house tidy and Tim helped us install the app and showed us how to use it . Excellent service. Would recommend.

We had been considering Solar panels for some time and my Husband read up on them alot.
Our neighbours recommended this company and Sean came out to discuss our requirements and advise us on what would suit us best. Very knowledgeable and no pressure selling.
We agreed on a price and the guys, Matt, Tony and Casey came on Friday to install the system.
They were very friendly, professional and tidy. They worked hard and system is in and we are very happy with it.

Thermohome ltd were recommended to us by a neighbour. Since first contact with Thermohome ltd we have not been disappointed. The installers were friendly and professional from the outset and everything was explained in a clear and concise manner. Dates, times and appointments were kept and we were advised of the progress of the installation throughout. The system has been up and running for a few weeks now and is working well. We have since recommended Thermohome ltd to our neighbours who have already had a system fitted and are pleased with the result. We are very happy with all the work indeed.
