I do not recommend ordering with this company. We ordered two packets of playing cards, we were given a postage date of about a week. Two weeks later no package. Contacted them and they said they were waiting on one of the cards to come from the UK! So they sent one. I asked for the other one to be sent to a different address as we were moving. They said they would. They didn’t. I don’t recommend this company.

16 days and I’m only now notified that shipping has happened. Over priced and I’m wondering if that’s why books I buy look terrible in print because apparently they do that.

They are amazing! Quick send out of my puzzle and then when there was a broken peice they sent a replacement.

Just received my copy of "The Ultimate

They charge $11 delivery per book when ordering via BIGW marketplace. Straight out scam.

I have made multiple purchases of books from The Nile website and their ebay account and been very happy overall. All my items were as described: in brand new condition, the correct book, and correct edition.

Everything arrived safely which is great, as sometimes they send books in a tight paper bag with no protection but so far no damage has happened.

Item shipping and arrival time can vary depending on where they're sourcing the item from (usually the UK or USA). They're usually pretty good about tracking your package and updating you, but for one book I had to reach out them as I had no updates at all. The staff member I spoke to was very professional and friendly, and sorted the issue out quickly.

I will happily purchase again, they often have great prices on their books.

I wish i could post here a picture of my book and say how amazing The Nile is but i can not do it. I ordered a texbook on 26 February .. I chose Nile because their delivery timeframe was 6 March. I need the book urgently and i picked them because they promissed to deliver quickly.... at the moment they have no stock they only expect stock by 16th March and their expected delivery timeframe is 23rd March....... A Month after order was placed... i woukd not be so upset but i need the book for my course and end of march is week 5 of 11 week course ... I contacted Nile twice and was promissed that delivery will be urged and when stock arrives from their distribution centre they will urgently deliver ... 23 March does not sound there is any urgency ....

I should admit they gave me back postage fee and a small discount but in the big scheme of thigs its is nothing given the frustration and the issues they caused ... texbook is a must in a law course and at the moment i got no where to get one.

Was scared to order off here because of the reviews saying shipping takes forever however my books actually came within a week. My issue was I ordered a special edition book but received the normal version of the book. I paid $30 for the special edition and the regular book retails for $16. When I contacted them they said the best they could do was a 20% refund. Didn’t offer to send the actual book I ordered. Ended up paying almost $10 more than retail price after getting the 20% refund. The only other option I had was to pay to have the book returned and was told there’s no guarantee I would receive the special edition book I actually ordered even after that. That being said I did order three other books which were in excellent condition and were the actual books I ordered.

I regularly purchase books from Nile and have done so for several years
Mostly I purchase biographies and I have been thrilled to find Nile can supply bios from 40/50 years ago
I am 83 years of age and prefer to buy books online
At all times the books I wanted were delivered quickly and in good condition.
Nile prices are more reasonable than other bookstores and I am totally satisfied with the products and the service from Nile books.

ripped me off for my disabled grandsons christmas present to help him learn to read then completely ignored my requests for a refund after informing them they sent it to the wrong country.

Ordered a book which I needed in time for our holiday . Another company had let us down, but The Nile were awesome - great communication around order placement and estimated delivery date . Regular updates on shipping and my book arrived 3 days ahead of promised date. Highly recommended

Wrong product delivered and company has led me on for 7 weeks with 'we're contacting the supplier'/ 'correct product coming into stock soon'/ 'just give us a few more days' emails. About to take legal action for a refund. Wish I'd read other reviews before using.

In 2026 it’s unfathomable that a book in stock ordered from Melbourne to Sydney should take 20 days!! I emailed and got no response after 10 days. Typed with a bot that said by 28th, 18 days after ordering. Now I’m getting it on the 29th. I could have written out the book and posted it in 19 days. Will absolutely never ever use this joke of a company again.

I ordered the NRSVue with Apocrypha Bible They've sent me the one without. There appears to be no way to engage with them. Stinking duds.

Book arrived damaged with pages folded over and creased. Shop elsewhere.

I ordered a calendar from "The Nile" 23 days ago, and just received an email saying that the calendar "is not in stock"!
(Hopefully I will get my money back!)

Shocking service. I placed order on 5th December and was advised it would be received between 10th Dec- 23rd Dec. It was posted on 24th Dec and I’ve STILL not got it! I posted a review criticising their service on their website. The website was immediately flooded with automated reviews of “excellent service”. That’s how they keep their high rating up. Corrupt

Extremely Disappointing and Misleading – Proceed With Extreme Caution

I strongly caution anyone considering purchasing from TheNile.com.au. Although the company is registered as being based in Sydney, my experience bears no resemblance to what one would reasonably expect from an Australian online bookstore.

Despite books being advertised as “in stock”, delivery times are grossly misleading. Orders take a minimum of four weeks, if they arrive at all, which is completely unacceptable for what is presented as a local or national Australian retailer. This is not comparable to standard Australian delivery timeframes in any way.

I placed an order on 5 December for Christmas presents for my children. Six weeks later, I am still waiting for those books to arrive in Queensland. Christmas has long passed, and the purpose of the purchase has been entirely defeated.

Customer service is equally disappointing. Responses are sporadic, vague, and lack any genuine attempt to resolve issues. When replies do come, they feel formulaic and dismissive rather than helpful. There is no sense that customers—or their time and money—are valued.

Of even greater concern is the quality of some of the books received by others (as widely reported in reviews). Many appear to be low-quality reprints, raising serious questions about whether these are reproduced from e-books and, if so, whether authors are receiving proper royalties. While I cannot verify this definitively, the pattern is troubling enough to warrant scrutiny.

At best, this business operates in a deeply misleading manner. At worst, its practices raise questions that should be investigated by the ACCC, particularly around advertising “in stock” items that are clearly not held locally and delivery expectations that are not remotely realistic.

In summary:
• Do not assume fast or even reasonable delivery times
• Do not rely on advertised stock availability
• Do not expect meaningful customer service

I would never use TheNile.com.au again and strongly recommend others think very carefully before trusting this company with their money—especially for time-sensitive purchases like gifts.

Nine days to ship an in-stock item across Melbourne and The Nile failed. It sat waiting to be shipped for seven days at which point it was declared “shipped” but Australia Post did not collect it until late on the eighth day, meaning no chance of delivery on the last, ninth day. A “chat” after sitting for five days generated the response that it was a busy time of the year. But they had eleven months to prepare! Plus of the other > 20 online orders the family made for Xmas, all were shipped in, at most, three days and arrived in time. Obviously no one in this family will shop with The Nile in the future. And a business operating so poorly does not deserve to survive.

Order placed on the 8th of December. Still haven't received now on the 24th. Checking the tracking information, my order hasn't even been packaged.
It was meant to be a Christmas gift, they just didn't send my order. No excuse for this level of service.

Fyi it was only 4pm yesterday the 23rd that Auspost received information that the postage label has been created. That's 2 weeks and a day since my order. It should have arrived within the first week, it's only Sydney to Melbourne. They literally haven't even posted my order yet. Pathetic!
