Absolute pure discrimination
Absolute pure discrimination against independent filmmakers. I got my films and my profile taken down a while ago because they were "unofficial," so I spent a while getting them entered to festivals and working on myself. I got my film accepted into multiple film festivals and I even won an acting award at the American college Theatre Festival in Albany NY. And yet despite this, TMDB moderators banned my new account within 24 hours, and once again taken down ALL of my contributions and have not given me a chance to dispute this. They claim to be about acceptance and diversity but it is clear they only care about famous big budget Hollywood movies. Such a great website if it weren't for the absolutely ridiculous rules and even worse moderators.
Unprofessional and Unresponsive Experience with TMDb
The worst movie database website I've ever used. My entire filmography was suddenly removed without any explanation. I’ve sent multiple emails, yet received no response. This level of unprofessionalism is unacceptable. Letterboxd and other platforms should reconsider using this site's API. The experience has been deeply frustrating and disappointing.
BAD BAD BAD I DON4T HAVE ANY OTHER…
BAD BAD BAD I DON'T HAVE ANY OTHER WORDS FOR THIS CRAP
[CJ] Studios Series' Error Displays Blamed on TMDB's Lack of Professionalism
I am the founder of [CJ] Studios, and I put my shows on both IMDb & TMDB. But TMDB's staff are very unprofessional and lazy to even respond to my emails asking for help. I accidentally added in the wrong thumbnail for certain episode even gave an actor of mine the wrong picture of another actor by mistake. The users are not allowed to fix errors, it's against their rule because they have to do it themselves. And when I reached out them 2 weeks ago to fix this issue, they NEVER responded. And now the wrong photos are displayed forever until they actually do their job and fix it. Whoever is behind this TMDB staff team needs to be fired and replaced by a group of people who actually know how to do their job. I want the errors fixed!
Inaccurate information
Inaccurate information. If you try to add the correct info, the owner just overrides your changes. You'll be emailed about the changed and told to contact them if you have questions, but every email sent will go unanswered. I've had entire series deleted and told it was a duplicate and pointed to the "original" where it's 20 years newer than my submission.
ANTI-ART
These guys are pathetic. They are strictly anti-art, and anti-indie. Unless this fact changes, they will forever be a terrible website.
I am targeted by moderators, and they ignore my corrections
My account on TMDb was Movie_Mosaic, my contribution was about 80,000 points up there, until a movie called Wicked City (1992) from Hong Kong. I tried to explain to the non-Hong Kong moderators how the English translated title is THE Wicked City, instead of Wicked City, I had proof - links from IMDb, rottentomatoes, HKMDb etc, yet they kept ignore me and refuse to make a correction.
I doubted them for being less considerate with Asian cinema, consider they have not even watched the movie. Next thing I know, my beloved account was suspended, right before I was gonna delete it myself. I tried to send some emails to explain my situation but often not get feedback, and TMDb doesn't even have an email address for such issue to report...
I want to move on, but since my account is under suspension, I can't even delete it, and I tried to open a new account, which I didn't know they don't allow it - I did not even spoke about the issue again, I behaved nicely, yet I still got suspended by somebody from the site, understandable, but now it is getting personal, as I believe I am targeted by them. I do not tolerate such abuse especially that all I was trying to do was making a movie's information correct, to help the site. But they do not care about information apparently... I'm just wasting my life trying to find a place to share my unfair experience. And I really hope I get to speak with someone in charge of the issue, as Wicked City is still an incorrect title.
I have nothing against TMDb, although it's full of mistakes especially with Hong Kong cinema, but the moderators truly angered me with their attitude, and left me no choice but coming here for help.
I demand to either resume my account, or simple delete it for good and let me move on. But most importantly, add THE to the wicked city, because that's the correct title, and that's what TMDb should be focusing on, instead of targetting me.
Great family films
Absolutely loved this family orientated film and what a pleasure to see a film with no swearing no violence and no sex a great family film for all the family to watch and enjoy
Unexplained Removal of Documentaries
I am disappointed with themoviedb.org for deleting several documentaries from their database without providing any explanation. This action suggests an implicit bias, as it appears films are being removed based on subjective criteria. This practice is concerning for a platform that should aim to be an inclusive and comprehensive movie database. One star due to these unexplained removals.
I loved this site until I realized how discriminatory it is
I loved this site at first. It's so fun to add your own films to this and see them appear on sites like Letterboxd, however, shortly after adding my films, they were all taken down due to the ridiculous guidelines about no amateur content including fan-films or short-films, unless for for rare circumstances (like a proper release, which two of my films actually have, despite both being taken down). First off, requiring an official release for a short-film/fan-film to even qualify for the site in the first place is actually very telling that this site doesn't want us small independent filmmakers to succeed, as it limits our opportunities in the film and entertainment industry. This policy is targeting those of us who may not have the resources and connections available to have an official release of their film. I might also add that because this policy targets independent filmmakers like myself as I just stated, it is also disproportionately affecting other minority groups such as African-American and Queer filmmakers, as they likely have even less access to these resources and connections that someone like I do. Despite the moderators claiming my films were taken down because the site doesn't allow amateur content, I am forced to believe it was actually due to some other reason as ONLY my films/short-films/fan-films were taken down, not any of the countless other short-films. Specifically, my fan-film "Hawkeye: The Broken Arrow" was removed, however, they kept up the other 2 Hawkeye fan-films, which means the moderators were specifically targeting me and my films as opposed to all ametuer content like the mods claimed. As of a couple days ago, the moderators finally took down those other previously mentioned Hawkeye fan-films yet still have up all the other star wars fan-films, DC fan-films and even amateur YouTube content which again leads me to believe that the only reason those other 2 Hawkeye fan-films were taken down was to try and appease me I called them out for taking down "Hawkeye: The Broken Arrow". After this extensive research I have no choice but to believe The Movie DataBase is actually discriminating against me based on the fact that I am of a minority group as I suffer from autism, among several other conditions. I request that The Movie Database reinstate my films immediately, these being
- Hawkeye: The Broken Arrow (2024)
- Traeh (2023)
- Boston Vice (2024)
- The Revelation (2021)
- DOOKU A Star Wars Story: Becoming Darth Tyranus (2021)
- Pohlster the Movie (2021)
- The Slip Up (2019)
or I will be doing it myself, by creating new versions of my films to add, two of which now do have an official release, so if they are taken down a second time I will know.
T for terrific, I for inferior
This site is so easy to use. User friendly, clean interface and without clutter, Most importantly, no advertisement junk (unlike IMDB)! Which means it loads up quickly. It would be great to have a permanent search box instead of needing to click on the magnifying glass on every search. Well done TMBD, keep up with the good work.
Pathetic
If the movie you're looking for is cookie cutter Hollywood tripe, then this site is great... Anything else then abusive mods rule with an iron fist, and lash out at those who speak against them.
If you spend time adding an independent release (even those held in high regard and are widely known), it will almost certainly be removed.
I hate the fact so many other sites use this pathetic excuse for an "Movie and TV database" as the source of truth..
Last Bastion of Freedom of Speech
This website is the last bastion of freedom of speech where reviews aren't censored and deleted because of different views unlike the remaining similar websites (IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes). There's no point going on IMDb or Rotten Tomatoes, because those sites are corrupted, racist & heavily biased. Just stick with this website if you don't want your review to be deleted. If majority of us will migrate on this website, eventually websites like IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes will shrink & it will be punishment for them.
At least it doesn't censor
The site needs a lot of work... but it doesn't censor like IMDB, you can write a review on it and the review stays up.
So, given that there aren't many places that allow honest reviews any longer, I'm saying it's tops...
... despite the fact that some aspects need work.
I like this website
I like this website. It is a good website to review movies and shows alongside IMDB.
My second favorite Film/TV rating website after IMDb.
I created my TMDB account in 2021. I upload my IMDb votes file to it every now and then. TMDB is a decent website and is a work in progress as there's so much more info to add for each film and TV show.
Nonsense censorship.
There was an extremely popular movie that has gotten almost 10 million views this week and the website just deleted the whole page. They also deleted all the pages related to the cast + crew, and I opened a thread in the support section asking why they are deleting all these topics and they deleted that too. They deleted every single movie by a film maker! Pages that had been up for ages.
I don't trust anything to do with this company now. They didn't even have the decency to reply to my support thread.
Good site but let down by outdated rules
I have recently discovered that my Plex media library collects its metadata from services such as TMDB and as I had recently added some more niche shows to my library I decided id update the online database so that I could have a more accurate experience in Plex. I spent several days this week updating and creating entries for several shows I had added to my library, the user experience on TMDB is fantastic and I enjoyed using the service.
However, I logged on today to find that two shows I had spent a long time creating and completing entries for (almost 500 episodes each with their own episodes) had been deleted without warning by the sites moderators. When I raised this with the support system I was also informed that some of the other shows I had spent time working on were at risk of being deleted for being "self-released content" (this being anything that hasn't come from big production companies).
I fear I have wasted away a lot of time on this site. The moderator directed me to 'content guidelines' which I can only describe as archaic. From what I've seen the database website freely allows for detailed and extensive entries of x-rated adult movies and series but as soon as a high production YouTube series or podcast show is uploaded, the militant moderators quickly delete it.
The site rules are outdated and have fallen way behind the fast march of the internet and the many new ways people consume and create content. I wouldn't advise anyone to fall into the trap I did of opening your time and energy contributing to this site when ultimately your work will just be deleted, ready for the next fool to suffer the same fate.
Une base de données énorme
Une base de données énorme, c'est très rare quand je ne trouve pas un film sur le site !
