What a debacle! How I rue the day I switched to AA Motor Insurance! A few weeks after I signed up to AA, a man in a van decided to switch lanes and hit me from the rear driver’s side and travel along the side of my car, culminating in smashing my front mirror off. He pulled over and was absolutely lovely, as he clearly knew what had happened. It was, unfortunately, a company van, and the company refused to accept liability - as far as I know!

This was a cut and dried case of someone changing lanes without checking properly, and ramming into a vehicle already on the inside lane.

I have had to attempt to wring any information I needed out of the AA, and it has been akin to getting blood from a stone. Every single step of the way has been absolutely torturous, with the case (as far as I know, because nobody will answer me!) remaining unresolved. They have not even responded to my formal complaint of their handling of the case, other than sending a standard acknowledgment. Even the repair company they sent me to was dreadful (Alton Cars), with me losing about five days in total waiting for them to turn up when they said they would, which they very rarely did.

Next stop - Ombudsman. I am absolutely disgusted with the AA, who have very happily let me fork out £350 in excess fees because somebody else ran into my car, without ever voluntarily providing any information whatsoever.

I most certainly do NOT recommend this insurance company. This is the first claim I have ever made in over 40 years of driving without causing so much as a scratch to another vehicle, and I expect much, much better.

The staff were friendly and very helpful and the product price was OK.

Only gave 4 stars because insurance seems so complicated nowadays.

I have had AA insurance many years ago, so I have no problem with the company. My insurance was up for renewal and with the various add ons was more than a fifth cheaper than my existing insurer. They did offer to match the AA in monetary value, but not the add ons. Thank you AA for my new policy.

Documents aren’t available in my online account, still not there 48hours after taking out the insurance.

Easy filling in information for insurance. And setting up d.debit.

Website is easy to navigate and completing the quote application form was straightforward. Everything, terms, conditions etc is explained in plain English. With the 10% AA member discount, the quote I received was substantially less than the renewal quote I received from my current insurer.

What a waste of of time. The AA wrote to me with a renewal quote…. All the bells and whistles what a great quote for £2,417 !!
A quick trip to a comparison website and the best quote I obtained was £264, with an AA quote at £320 via the comparison site.
Now ether the AA have a computer glitch and it is moving the decimal point twice to the right or they are scamming me ?
And if anyone from the AA looks at this then the quote number was 180-654248-2446.
Perhaps if a bit of human intervention took place then they could save the pointless waste of the cost of the postage on this quote and lower premiums.
