Actual and factual experience with Storage King in Roanoke, Virginia. SK will offer low prices to lure you in and then, within 3-4 months, increase the rate by 30% to 40%. I've had two units and three increases in the past year.

Here is the SAME email they send:

"We monitor our costs closely to avoid passing on major rental rate increases to you, our valued customers. Unfortunately, we are left with no alternative but to increase your rent to continue to provide you with a reliable storage experience we know you expect.

This letter is to serve as your thirty (30) day notice for a rental rate change on your unit. Your monthly rent for the space will change from $189.00 to $250.00 per month with a tax of $0.00 for a total of $250.00 plus insurance of $12.00 and other costs for premium services that apply (if any). The new rate will be in effect starting with your payment due on or after September 17, 2024."

I'm moving out of the last unit and warning anyone looking for a storage facility should avoid Storage King.

For the record, the manager Landon is nice and tries to be helpful but he has no say about the increase in fees

Renting an outdoor covered storage space in Colorado Springs. The space seems secure and access is OK. The problem is with billing. I have rented for eight months and have problems on 6 different billing cycles. Of course all of them are in SK's favor. I really do not want to deal with these issues all the time so I will be moving very soon. Also, book your space through a third party as it will be less expensive.

Rose is perfect. She gave the best service ever.

I don’t ever write reviews online but felt like I had to say something about Storage King so others will be aware. My wife and I keep our Airstream RV at their new acquisition storage site in Niederwald, Texas. Yesterday we returned from a trip to drop off our RV at the storage site. Construction work is being done which involves the only entrance to return our RV. Uneven boards had been set up across the drive through at the gate and we had no other access to our site. Workers were on site at the time and did not tell us to avoid driving over the boards. We drove SLOWLY over the boards because of concern about the truck and RV tires, but a board popped up and struck the bottom of our RV. As a result part of our holding tank was broken off the RV. We have talked with a spokesperson at Storage King several times after the incident yesterday and again today. Storage King refuses to take any responsibility for the damage to our RV from what is obviously negligence due to shoddy construction work on their site. We will be removing our RV from Storage King and getting it into a safer site as soon as we can in order to avoid the possibility of any other incidents that their construction might cause. EVERYONE BE WARNED ABOUT STORING YOUR RV AT THIS PLACE!

My recent encounter with Storagetreasures.com has been nothing short of a disaster, characterized by deceit, incompetence, and abysmal customer service. From the despicable actions of the manager at Storage King USA in Pace, Florida, to the company's refusal to issue a refund, my experience has left me deeply disillusioned and utterly dissatisfied.
The true extent of the company's negligence was revealed when I arrived at Storage King USA in Pace, Florida.
Upon discovering missing items from my storage unit, (the manager admitted giving them to someone). He brazenly confessed to removing some items himself, betraying my trust and violating the company's supposed standards of professionalism. However, when confronted by his own management team, he shamelessly denied ever making such a statement, gaslighting me and further eroding my confidence in the company.
To add insult to injury, Storagetreasures customer service proved to be equally unreliable. Despite the manager's admission of wrongdoing and the blatant breach of trust, the company callously refused to issue a refund, leaving me to bear the financial burden of their deceitful actions.
In light of this appalling experience, I have made the decision to close my account with Storagetreasures.com Their disregard for integrity, accountability, and customer satisfaction is utterly unacceptable, and I refuse to support a company that operates with such flagrant disregard for its customers.
In conclusion, my experience has been nothing short of a nightmare. From the manager's deceitful actions to the company's refusal to provide adequate customer service, I strongly advise against entrusting your belongings to this unscrupulous organization. Avoid Storagetreasures.com and Storage King USA at all costs, lest you fall victim to their deception and incompetence.

I'm so disappointed in Zephyrhills Storage King! No one ever answers the phone or calls you back or even comes into the office at this location.
I moved out and made sure I gave the 10 day notice and then I was charged for another month. I was told by someone at the Lakeland office that a refund needed to be discussed with the DM.
Rented on Jan 15 moved in and vacated the unit on Feb 1. I was charged for Feb through March. Then billed for March through April. I got ahold of someone by using the chat return call on the website. Finally issued my refund, and the unit was actually closed in late March.

I have been renting from them for about 2 years now. I lost my job back in October of 2023 and the site manager and the worker are pretty nice people, but they can never work with me when it comes to my bill being due. However, always make a way to pay even if I'm a little late. This time I was 32 days past due and normally my bill is like $56 which it has gone up, but when I am late it goes up to $73. They actually tagged on $200 more because I'm 32 days late and told me that I even have to call in but now it is locked and so I have to wait for them to auction it off and send me an email or something like that. I asked to speak to headquarters and the reception is basically told me to reach out to the district manager and he or she will get back with me but this is ridiculous! I'm going through hardship and no one can help me! Then when I look at the new prices for the same size storage unit it's like $21! I am paying almost $60! I would not rent a storage with them.

Now, according to the receptionist I have to wait for them to reach out to me about my property been auctioned off! I am in disbelief! I just think that they should be able to assist those who are having hardship! It will not hurt their pockets because they're filthy rich!

Worst place to store anything.
My unit and others on my block were broken into and no cameras got anyone breaking into units and it was so much of a hastle trying to get the insurance to pay.
As a matter of fact they did not pay me my $3,000 worth of items that were stolen even I submitted receipts for majority of all items stolen.
Worst storage place ever.

Outside unit rains inside from the outside top back area and lizards also comes inside. I informed them about this 1-2 years ago. It should be discounted until it is fixed.

Horrible!!! Had my Food Truck Towed because they claimed they didn't know who was the owner. Never mind the fact that I had to provide all of my information showing ownership, insurance, and contact information. It was accidently parked in the wrong space. But rather than do diligence to locate the correct space and owner, they chose the more costly option for me the customer. Cost me $1000 to get my vehicle. Not to mention possible damages to the vehicle. I would say more but just more of the same. They are the worst....don't store your shoe box with them!

Terrible facility, very little help, and just now paid, only to be told my next payment date would be less than twenty days later, with no explanation. I also could not make an online account to pay, even with the correct access gate code.

No invoices, no help, no replies to emails. A godawful location, and I will be looking to get my money back.

Moved in last month at an agreed rent price of $87 a month. Went to pay today, 4 weeks later and they want $134. When asked why, they said “ oh, our rental contracts are all month to month, and this month the rent increased by $47. Apparently, this is legal for them to do in Ohio. It essentially allows them to steal your property at any time, as they could just say, “oh your rent next month has increased by $5,000 or whatever, then if you dont have the 5 grand to pay you would just lose all your stuff. Stay away from this scandalous company. I paid the extra money this month and am moving out. Also, the state does require a 30 day nitice of an increase in rent but i dnt know if that applies to storage rentals. If so, what they are doing is illegal. Either way, Storage King is a fraud and a scam I would stay away. (I also love the walls made of plywood and the fact there are at least 20 bums living in there that come and go all day long without a car or any items to unload.) What a joke of a company

I do not recommend renting with this company. I was charged $82 ($41x2) while trying to rent a unit from them. They do not have record of either charge and it didn't apply towards my account. The managers do not have the ability to do anything other than take your money and they refuse to give you the contact info of someone who does. Storage King does not have any type of corporate contact info listed anywhere. If you call their call center they just route you back to the location manager who doesn't have the ability to do anything. Its extremely frustrating and absolutely ridiculous. They're basically thieves Who just take your money and tell you there is nothing they can do about it. Who knows what other payments this place loses on the reg. I'd definitely stay away.

Mike is what made my experience great! I have been a customer there since 2016 when Seacoast storage owned the property.

Mike is always happy and has a smile for you when you come in the door. He’s not afraid to say to a customer, “what if you try this and you might save a few dollars.” Customers love to hear that they are saving a few dollars.

Mike points out the improvements that Storage King has made to the former Seacoast property and it sounds like a brand new facility when he gets done explaining how much Storage King put into the property.

Keep Mike as the face of Storage King there at Fort Pierce and you will keep your customers.

I can’t say that I give Storage King the five stars due to rent increases that have been as high as 17%. As far as I am concerned, Mike deserves all the credit for the success of this Fort Pierce property.

My storage unit was broken into while facility security system was compromised. Even tho previous thefts had occurred to outside units, the indoor facility was left exposed and open to public. My boat electronics and tools were stolen. Storage King will not rectify this situation even tho their incompetence has caused it. I highly recommend one choosing a better facility. We are stranded without tools, parts, or the funds to finish repair of our home/sailboat

Nothing seems to ever go right. I'm being billed for a storage that is not mine taking it off my bank card with out permission. Meanwhile my real account is not paid and I can't seem to get anywhere on the app hopefully tomorrow when his business day I haven't lost my stuff yet while paying for who knows what storage. You're seeing if you garbage and an empty storage that's not true I was told by the owner of the storage the individual storage unit to put their stuff there I don't overs garbage or what it was I don't really care. They never seem to know which a rainy storage and which is not

They increase the rentals every 8 months; for 2024 the rate increase is over 9%. They keep expanding/building and it appears they pass on the cost to their customers. Filed a complaint and basically it falls on deaf-ears; nothing ever gets done. This is a Florida Location, I'm referring to.

I fell for the oldest trick in the book…. the classic bait-and-switch. After shopping for the best rates in my area, I chose these guys because they were the most competitive. And then the other shoe drops…a few months after moving all my stuff in, I get a notice of a rate increase. Not a small increase but a substantial one. I did some homework and this evidently is common with storage companies. Do your homework, folks. I didn’t and got played.

Update 10/20/23: They’ve just raised my rate again. In January, I signed up for a unit for $49 per month. In March, they raised my rate to $51 per month. In April, they raised my rate to $64 per month. And on October 19, 2023, these dishonest sleazebags raised my monthly rate yet again to $84 per month. They’ve almost doubled my monthly rate in about nine months.

This is what a bait-and-switch by a sleazy, dishonest business looks like, folks. Don’t be fooled.
