Excellent 1:1 session. Kate is very knowledgeable when it comes to dogs. Our lesson focused on training my spaniel not to pull on the lead. Kates calm demeanour put us both at ease and I came away confident that I will be able to put into practice what we were taught.

Our first one to one since my Labrador came back from a residential with Kate.
She quickly identified where I had let things ‘slip’ with encouragement to work on keeping him straight on the basics.
All our sessions have helped me work towards having a more attentive and relaxed dog but most importantly have bolstered my confidence with him after some setbacks with other dogs.
Kates group classes are brilliant which is evidenced by the number of regular attendees and even though we may all be making progress at a different rate very inclusive.

Kate at stoneycairn has been great ! We attend lessons and had 121’s. Training is adapted to Reuben and Kate is very patient and great at teaching me to get the best out of my dog.
Manners and discipline have come on leaps and bounds

I first took our lab puppy to Kate in October last year when he was seven months old, we have learnt so much already both my dog and I with Kate’s input and invaluable knowledge and patience. We now attend group classes as well as 121’s and Kate is always so patient and addresses any issue/question I have (which are numerous as he is now a very big 10 month old). I know we are both in expert hands and trust Kate implicitly to help us achieve our goals both in obedience as well as more skilled activities as we both learn and grow. Highly recommend Kate and look forward to seeing how we progress.

Kate is an absolutely brilliant and patient dog and dog owner trainer! In just two sessions she has made a huge difference to my dog and also me and how I interact with him. I would highly recommend her.

Kate really understands dogs and their owners, especially novices like me. She quickly identifies what you're trying to achieve, where you are now and how to make progress. Her training is all about getting your dog to be obedient in the first place and then a useful working gundog. I'm happy to recommend.

I've been training with Kate for a few months now and we're making constant progress.

Excellent one to one training for our teenager Labrador. Kate is very clear with her direction taking time to discuss our issues and helping build both the dog and our confidence. She will bring out her own dogs during sessions to replicate situations we may do a across when out with our dog again helping to build confidence and we have a!so been encouraged to join group training.
Giving us a better understanding of dog behaviour has helped enormously especially in the house with keeping our dog both engaged and re!axed.

Great 121 lesson yesterday must if been doing something even the dog had had it when we'd done. Informal just how I prefer it, but Kate is very knowledgeable and easy to get on with win win

Excellent 1:1 training session, Kate really knows her stuff and imparts her knowledge so you understand how to take the training home with you. My confidence is building more and more and I’m sure with Stonycairns support I will be a good springer spaniel owner!

I found Stonycairn from online reviews and initially went for 1:1 training with Kate. I found her knowledgeable and insightful for assisting with recall and steadiness of my 18 month spaniel, and this ultimately led to me feeling confident in leaving my dog for 4 weeks’ residential training.
I was told she would be individually and group trained twice daily for short sessions, and Kate made it clear I would receive training videos once a week (Mondays) as part of price, as the purpose is to train the owner as well as dog. This was key for me, both to feel comfortable in leaving my dog and to progress as an owner.
I left her on the Saturday. There was an initial concern I hadn’t been sent the contract to look over before arrival but I was told this was due to phone lines being down. I reminded Kate when I arrived I hadn’t seen anything and she went to get an old one that someone previous had filled in but didn’t go through with the residential so she just crossed their details out.
I left my dog and asked for an update text the following day to know she had settled in okay, but heard nothing for days. The following Monday came and went and nothing, no video, no communication. After repeated requests, Kate finally sent a brief written training update and explained the lack of video was due to one of her dogs being at the vets. After two weeks, I still had not received a video or any other training update; texts and calls were ignored and I was sufficiently concerned to decide to bring my dog home.
When I arrived to collect her, I was told Kate was away in Wales and that I could not have my dog. This only changed when I said I would involve the police. When Kate appeared, she became rude and hostile, claimed she had sent training videos but no evidence of this was given at the time when asked or given since.
I’ve given two stars to reflect the 1:1 training experience with Kate, as I did enjoy these, however the whole residential experience was a nightmare I wouldn’t even give 1 star for. My dog came back thinner, and there was no discernible difference in training, and no evidence that any had been done.
I genuinely hope this never happens to anyone else, and just feel gutted.

Took Alfie my 5 month old working cocker spaniel to see Kate as he is proper handful on and off the lead, as I needed some guidance into how to handle him.
All I can say is Kate was exceptional with him. She is so knowledgeable about the way these dogs perform. With in the hour of one to one with me and Alfie we had mastered walking correctly on a lead and we are working towards better recall which we will practice at home. He also socialised off the lead with one of her dogs.
Came away from only 1 session with Kate feeling a lot more confident with Alfie.

Another excellent and much needed lesson for our teenager Labrador. Just when you think you are getting it right he shows you up!! Kate is endlessly patient which is just as well and by the end of the lesson we really felt we had made some progress. Looking forward to our next session.

Great 1-2-1 with Kate and my 11 month old springer. I’m new to spaniels having always had Labradors and Golden Retrievers. Not just a dog trainer, but trains the hander too. Kate is great at seeing things from the dog’s point of view, explaining how a seemingly minor action on the handler’s part can greatly influence the dog behaviour. Friendly and very willing to share her knowledge, I would definitely recommend Kate and Stoneycairn.

Kate really, really knows about gundog training and makes her lessons fun as well as interesting. I’m a complete novice with a very well bred spaniel, so a challenge for any trainer. The small group lessons are excellent but the 121 training is astonishingly effective- a really good investment in the dog, whether you want to work them or just have a beautifully trained pet.

Had a really great visit to see Kate to learn more before getting a dog. She's really honest about the challenges of different breeds and lines and obviously has a lot of success with all kinds. Would definitely go back to get for lessons in the future and would recommend to anyone.

Kate was an excellent coach. I’ve just got to put it into practice and hopefully Toby will take notice of commands. He’s better than he was!!

Please do not purchase from these. I purchased a £105 coat and they have not given me any update nor have I received my parcel. This was supposed to be a Christmas present. They haven't had the decency to answer me on any platforms, the phone in the office is never switched on and they are ignoring my emails. It says a lot about a company when they don't have the decency to reply to their customer.

We have taken our dog to Stoneycairn twice so far and on each occasion, we have been thoroughly impressed with the level of one-to-one training provided. Very friendly and very knowledgeable. Our dog (Stanley) is making great progress.
