At Stepping Stones Behaviour Specialists, we provide high-quality Autism Support and Positive Behaviour Support across the North East of England, including Tyne and Wear (mainly Newcastle upon Tyne), Sunderland, Gateshead and Durham, We specialise in helping families of children with Autism develop skills, strengthen communication, and build confidence at home and in school. Every session is fun, meaningful, and 100% personalised to your child’s unique needs. Our approach blends evidence-based strategies, Positive Behaviour Support, and compassionate, child-centred practice—so your child feels supported, understood, and empowered to learn and communicate. We work closely with parents and school staff to help you feel confident managing day-to-day challenges and maximise your child's learning. Our Autism Support services can help with communication skills (including speech and AAC), emotional regulation, behaviours of concern, sensory needs, skill development, toilet training, sleep difficulties, and selective or “picky” eating. We also help you understand the reasons behind every behaviour and teach positive alternative behaviours that let your child express their needs safely and effectively. In addition to Autism-specific services, we provide evidence-based coaching for parents of all children (especially those with additional behavioural or emotional needs), helping families teach and encourage positive behaviours, support emotional regulation, and make learning at home easier and more enjoyable.

Thank you Larissa/stepping stones

Larissa helped us work towards overall development of our child with autism and also helped with special education plan at mainstream setting. We have been with Larissa for the last 3 years. Larissa helped us with making goal plans, working on my child’s EHCP, helped us with working on my child’s self care including toilet training, education goals, training the tutors to work on the goals, and helped us whenever we needed any suggestions or advice with anything and everything. She also trained me as a parent how to deal with behaviours, and also work on all the goals. She helped me when I needed advice about dealing with my other two kids too. She is very professional and at the same time very understanding and supportive towards parents with special needs children.

I can’t thank Larissa enough

I can’t thank Larissa enough, the help and support she gave us as a family, and strategies to help support our son were truly amazing. From the first day we met I knew just how much she truly cared. I will forever be grateful for the time taken to help our son with his communication device. He has continued to thrive with it and it has helped so much with frustration. For anyone considering giving steppingstones a call, I wouldn’t hesitate getting in touch. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Practical tips that worked.

As a parent struggling to understand my toddler's confusing behaviours and tantrums, her guidance has been a complete game-changer.

She provided incredibly detailed and professional explanations of not just my daughter's actions, but general toddler development, helping me see the why behind the what.

She shared with me respectful tools for managing and preventing tantrums.

Highly recommended

From day one Larissa has shown dedication and care for our child to the point that she was practically a member of our family, our child was getting the attention that they need consistently and we could tell that they were really loved.

She taught us many things as parents which helped us support our child and made our lives much easier, she was professional and outstanding to say the least and words cannot express how grateful we are for everything she's done for our family.
