AVOID LIKE A PLAGUE

Worst plumbers I have ever had. They have zero clue how to fix anything. Came out twice to try and fix a boiler and each time they failed - tactical so that they could see charging for each call out visit. I had someone come and fix this boiler in one go.

They also quoted me over £600 to fix a blocked kitchen sink!

Save yourself the headache! AVOID!

Simply put, DO NOT USE this company. We have used them twice within 4 months for the same thing and both times we felt that they are ripping us off basically and that they are completely dodgy! The second time, the engineer who came out was extremely rude and when I told him that their customer service is very bad he got so upset that I almost felt threatened in my own house. Total scam and the worse people to be dealing with (both the so called “admin team” and the engineers). We will report them to the Trade house.

If I could give zero star, I would. Avoid like the plague.

South Star Plumber Ltd carried out a "boiler repair work" for me.

The boiler was not repaired. They just adjusted the gas valve however the minute the guy left, the boiler stopped working with the exact same problem as before, leaving us with no heating. The problem was misdiagnosed as when I called out another gas engineer, they confirmed that the cause of the problem was something else entirely. Later the manufacturer also confirmed this.

I told Southstar about this and requested a refund for the repair (I didn't dispute the callout charge).
They refused to give me a refund, despite the evidence that they misdiagnosed the problem.

Dishonest, terrible people.

Absolute robbers. Stitch-up cowboys who pretend to do a job they do not do then charge you over the odds for it. Never, ever use these people.
Total and utter rip-off merchants.

Home office leaking toilet - didn't reply for a week - turned up 5 hours late for booking , a non emergency call - for 10 minutes job to stop a leaking toilet £289 which i had dismantled and purchased the parts and - are you taking the p### ?
rude arrogant conmen. then pretend they're a different company and suddenly can only invoice my PA not the company who office it is.

Phoned this company to get some work done. Customer service is shocking and engineers do half a job.
There was no communication to let me know that they would be late (turns out they were 2 days late!). I had to keep phoning to ask where the engineer was.

When the engineer did turn up he demanded the money to be paid upfront, stupidly I agreed but he did not complete the job. Phoned up the company and they said they would speak to the engineer and let me know what to do however having waited 2 weeks for some kind of communication, I phoned them for them to say they could do nothing.

Lesson learnt... Don't use Southstar and don't pay anything upfront until the work promised has been complete!

They are scammers who pray on vulnerable people.

Had a leaking boiler. Dan the engineer came in (9hrs late).
Spent 2.5hrs and charged us £800!
Without fixing the issue, calming he’s missing a part. And will come back with the part asap.
He also charged for parts which he never used.
Very dishonest, manipulative and irresponsible.

We had to get a real plumber in.
The real honest plumber came and fixed the issue - claiming the part Dan the engineer advised was faulty don’t even exist on our boiler.

Very bad experience. We were told the fee would be £110 for call out fee including minor works. Guy arrived late after we called to chase and quoted us £110 call out fee PLUS £479 PER HOUR. Asked engineer to cease and leave, but still had to pay the £110 call out fee. Do not use these people. Minus 20 stars.

The worst type of cowboys and would run a mile if these guys showed up. No words to say how bad. I was traveling and my tenants called them for a broken boiler. They gave tenants invoice for £1,963.20 (more than a new boiler) and wanted money ASAP. They leave 1 hour later boiler is broken. Despite 4 times of promises to come back every time a no show. Sorry to cowboys these guys far worse. Minus 100 stars

The plumber was extremely rude and charged us 300 pounds just to leave without fixing anything. Terrible customer service and came 3 hours late. Wouldn't recommend at all.

Took nearly 4k for a call out, quite blatently wasted time... Pro expert con artist, oh did you miss something. Maybe the 2 rods you left in the blockage. INCOMPETENT dishonest and foolish people. This guy formulated his company 2 months ago a 25 year old east to west... South star plumbers... More like shitstar plumbers... No records of your work or call out... Dont worry I got all the camera footage and paper I need.

My boiler is 9 years old and all other companies I contacted wanted to only replace it , luckily I found southstarplumbers who made repairs for £110 which included a part . I’m very happy to make these savings at this difficult times in the country.

Complete crooks - charged over £1700 to replace a water pump in a boiler. 3 hrs work including an hrs shopping and £180 for the part + call-out fee….Do not use them - I am embarrassed and disappointed I did. But I was away and had 3 cold folk at home and no other plumber could attend. In retrospect of course we should have waited - but how could we know we would be ripped off?

The hot water still isn’t working properly and a pipe is dripping - so my really good plumber (he was away) is coming next week to check/repair the boiler at more cost. But you realise there is no point getting these guys out again.

We did call out southstar plumbers as they are local. Happy to supply the invoice. I suspect they may have passed the job to someone else, but obviously don’t know. The plumber came from north London to southwest… obviously worth his while to travel anywhere!

They waited until it was too late in the day to call anyone else before letting me have any idea of costs - and then with my back against the wall - I agreed - after being led to believe it was a quick job. They then stayed on site until payment reached their bank - standing next to my son until transfer was made!

Be careful - be aware - no 3 hr plumbing job should cost this much! Keep warm v

Most expensive plumbers I’ve come across over £1000 - two hours to change a U-bend half time spent on travel they don’t carry materials

Apparently changing a U bend is a complex job hence the price - Lesson learnt ….

Appalling company. Charged £360 pounds to unblock a toilet. Threatening “engineer”, refused to leave property, toilet leaked and had to be repaired by a proper plumber subsequently. They are a scam outfit.

We took out a claim against Southstar in the Small Claims Court for their useless, unfinished and over-priced work. They didn’t respond and we were awarded judgment and costs against them. Several months later, they applied to have the judgment set aside on the basis that “they didn’t receive it”. Yesterday at the application hearing, they failed to show up to defend their application, which was dismissed, and the award in our favour was upheld. Will be interesting to see how long it takes them to pay up but, in any case, they now have a County Court Judgement against them - one of many, I would imagine. Avoid them like the plague and save yourself a load of expense and hassle.

This company will rip you off. Avoid at all costs.
