We had a terrible experience with this company. A few things went wrong and they had no interest in putting it right.
We should have booked the cottage with our usual Hoseaseasons, who are reliable and have staff on site to put things right straight away when and if something goes wrong.
On our arrival, the cottage was extremely cold and we realised there was no working heating or hot water.
We called Devon Holidays and couldn't get hold of anyone, in the end we had to call Security who managed to repair the boiler, this was sorted after 12am!!!?? Security could not believe that the boiler had not been serviced.
With young children tired and cold, this was not a good welcome.
The following day, we used the hot tub and put our towels and swimming costumes in the washing machine; the washing machine was blocked and wouldn't stop ; it went on for over 4 hours despite us choosing a quick cycle.
We were unable to open the door as it was full of water . Again, we called Devon Holidays to ask for someone to help and again, there was no answer.
We had to pay £60 in advance to use the swimming pools and Devon Holidays didn't refun this money. This is unreal.
The Cottage we stayed in, should have been properly serviced before our arrival, and Jason, the company director should have accepted that the cottage was dated and should have been checked before our arrival; instead he took 2 weeks to reply yo our messages and gave us every excuse in the book!
We wanted to support a small local company, gave them a chance to put things right and they ignored us.
We won't be making that mistake again
We had a fantastic stay at 47 Primrose lodge. Its a beautiful lodge and the facilities were excellent. On arrival we had no hot water. I contacted the number in the information and was told that someone would come right away. It did take another phonecall but it was sorted out within 3 hours and no further problems. The rest of the holiday was wonderful, the hot tub is lovely and Jason did send a text later that first evening to check all was well. I do recommend this beautiful place, the lodge was very comfortable, well decorated and had everything we needed. The onside shop is a bit useless, it didn't have even all the basics like ham and sugar but the town of Newton Abbot Is close by with a big Asda and lots of shops. I would definitely stay here again and plan to go every year. Amazing find. The resort is lovely and the lodge is superb!
Booked Lazy Bear Lodge, was really looking forward to it. We arrived early, messaged them for key code number, no reply, called the office and they gave us the key code number, eventually we found it. Went in had a look around. Came across a bath mat and toilet roll out side what looked like a cupboard, it was in fact the bathroom. It had not been cleaned, vomit, towels and gents underpants on the floor. Called the office to inform them of what I had found, they said we could be relocated, however, the standard of cleaning and the ambiance of the place left a lot to be desired. We were given 47 Primrose, the access to this property was not suitable for a 85 year old person. We did not accept that one, we finally got to another lodge, which was brilliant, the only downside is that it did not have a sauna, the one we booked had the hot tub and sauna. It was a great improvement. However, I felt that we should have been compensated for this disgraceful finding in the first lodge, but instead we were told it was because we arrived early, 20 minutes early, had they said not it is not ready, we were quite prepared to go for a look around and a coffee. Instead Jason kept blaming us for arriving early. He offered us a voucher, that is no good to me, I don't want to have to spend money with a company that did not respect our position to be able to use the voucher. I have plenty of photographs of what we experienced, none of the points I raised about the first cabin were addressed. It did dampen the atmosphere of what was a much needed break. The website photos are very misleading.

Firstly we have not requested a refund in anyway what so ever . For us there didn’t seem to be any point to that as a request , as it was clear how this business was being run. And it being clear you are happy to very much over charge for nothing more than a 2 star experience , if that .
Secondly we have photos time stamped of ‘ ice cube’ and state of whole premises . And happy to share .
Had we not have called finlake and expressed our upset , nothing would have been sorted for my sons to swim .
Yes we did chat with your staff member, she was lovely however she didn’t come back when she was meant to - hence sauna not working once while we were there .
It’s saddening you won’t take an honest review and take appropriate action to ensure no one else has such a grubby and unpleasant and stressful stay . But instead lie and throw insult .
I shall now look to take this further

We booked deer lodge through virbo and received email few days before saying due to lodge being sold they have upgraded us .
We were not upgraded . Put us in 47 primrose
Day one - hours spent trying to sort out being able to use faculties and finlake won’t deal with private bookings ( devon holidays ) took us 48 hours to finally use pool .
When I contacted deven holidays they just sent us number for finlake .
Lodge was unclean , dried food on plates and cutlery . Fridge had ice burg in it so not holding safe temperature . Oven was disgusting .
Sofa , smelt and each cushion was stained . Walls grubby . Beds do not have luxurious mattresses like advertised .
Sauna - never worked !
Grubby Uncomfortable and not what we paid for . Worst break we have ever had and it feel alone our money and holiday was stolen

I have recently stayed in a pet friendly lodge templar 8, it was very clean and very cosy, had everything in it you need, Jason and his team are very helpful and very welcoming, I will definitely be returning again next year, I can highly recommend Devon holidays to anyone thinking of booking a holiday ,once again a BIG thank you to Jason and his team.

We recently stayed in Primrose lodge, 4 adults and 2 children for 3 nights. On arrival the lodge was very clean and welcoming. We had everything we needed including black bag, cloths, dishwasher tablets and washing liquid. Toilet roll and towels also provided. We also had a hot tub and sauna both of which were well equipped and lovely to have with the recent ice and frost. Devon holidays made the booking process very easy and hassle free.
We ate dinner from the Hub both nights and having dietary requirements was not an issue and food was amazing and well priced ! Facilities were great everything you needed on site. Will be booking again in the future.

We have just had a lovely weekend at 20 The Brambles, our second visit. The lodge is well maintained & situated at the end of a cul de sac. We were able to sit outside & listen to the birds singing. Enjoyed the hot tub too!

Jason & his team have taken over our family owned lodge this year. They have worked very hard on its preparation & presentation & given good advice on how to manage it. I also commend them on the service they have given the guests who stayed there as 'nothing' has been too much trouble. Excellent service all round!
Our holiday at Brambles 20…15th/22nd Aug 2022.
My hubby, myself & our 17 year old Grandaughter with learning problems plus our dog.
Firstly I would like to say we have been to Finlake before -5th time just back from & first time booked with Devon holidays.
This review has no complaint with Finlake, they get a 10/10 from us for great upkeep of the grounds, pools & flumes, cafe/ food & the bar. Didn’t get to use the spa this time.
Our complaint is mainly with the lodge, but also some with Jason asi think these things should of been checked before.
I didn’t book through the owner so expected things sorted through Jason.
It started off wrong - when we arrived at 1pm to get in the lodge, only to find the cleaners didn’t get in until 1.15pm as guests before us left at 1pm. We paid £35 for this extra to enter at 1pm. Got in at 2.45pm
We have since been told that we was notified by Jason on the Sunday 14th about this.
We to this date have lots of messages which I have kept from Jason but funny enough not this one.
To date we have nothing saying our money has been repaid back to our account yet & we’ve checked back months.
When we first entered the lodge if looked nice but found issues as we settled in & after doing a grocery shop.
1/ we sat on the sofa and it had a big dip in the middle & was very uncomfortable.
2/ my Grandaughter had a shower and screamed out because the water temp was red hot. My hubby confirmed this the following morning when he tried the shower.
I reported to Jason & not once did he ask how she was, just the fact that nobody had said about it before.
A lady came out the next day & reduced temperature on the actual boiler for us ,which was lovely. Sadly my Grandaughter (because of her problems ) from then on would only shower at the pool.
3/ I had been promised that there was a patio umbrella on site as my hubby has had skin cancer on his head & must wear his hat, sit under an umbrella or stay inside. We reported this & was promised one on the Tuesday but sadly didn’t turn up until Friday & we left 9am on Monday.
4/ we reported the mattress in main bedroom as being very uncomfortable. We had to take the duvet from single bed to put on top of the mattress but it needed some nice thick topper and some new pillows.
5/. The oven worked well but you had to try every knob because half of the writing was worn off from the cooker with what worked what.
6/ tele kept going funny because the batteries was held in with insulation tape.
7/ The blind across front of window/ patio doors was broken.
This holiday was mainly for a rest for us as my 76 year old hubby also has long covid.
Not the best lodge for comfort at all.
When the owner came with the umbrella, he said he would be doing all these things in a couple of weeks. As much as we was glad to hear this for others, it doesn’t help us & all these things
We feel should of been sorted before the lodge was opened at all. It had only been with Jason since beginning of August.
We feel that we should never of had to pay the full price & that the owner should never of let 5he lodge out until 100% right..
We both feel that a refund of some of the holiday cost should be refunded to make up for lodge not being up to the standard it should of been.
I would like to note that some of the same problems were mentioned in the visitors book from Aug 2020.
Let’s hope all problems get rectified for others staying from now on.

Absolutely loved the two bedroom lodge at Brambles 9 at Finlake Holiday Park which had everything you need for a comfortable stress free holiday. Arrival process was so easy - details emailed in advance how to gain access to lodge - straight to the lodge with no need to visit the park reception.
Spacious, comfortable and clean lodge with everything you would need especially in the kitchen. Tea, coffee, sugar and milk sachets on arrival. Large decking area wrapped around two sides with hot tub and two different seating areas. The hot tub was brilliant and was lovely to soak in it and relax after a busy day sightseeing. We stayed for 7 nights but wish we had now stayed for 10 - we will definitely be back & would definitely rebook with Devon Holidays. The customer service is faultless - responding to a couple of questions on our first night quickly.
The park itself is quiet and very well looked after and ideally situated within short drives to all the tourist hot spots - it is a very beautiful area.

I decided to hand the management of our lodge to devon holidays. Best decision I made as within 2 days they started getting bookings. My lodge looks stunning and our guests are very happy with the service they receive. The communication I receive is excellent and they are happy to help. I would recommend them 100%.
There local knowledge and vision for customer satisfaction is exceptional.

We changed accommodation to one managed by Devon holidays, and while there were some wear and tear issues probably due to season being early and all the covid shinanegans preventing things being done.
They place was nice enough and comfortable. The company was very helpful and responsive. I believe that the caravan is being fixed before when we had an issue with the hot tub.
I would definately book with these guys again.

We had a fantastic holiday in one of the pet-friendly lodges. It was lovely and the site is clean and has lots of activities for families. Highly recommended!
Jason and his team were excellent and were welcoming and attentive. We've already booked for next year.
