I bought one of their Gua sha…
I bought one of their Gua sha hairbrushes made in Taiwan, with gold covered bristles. Since it doesn't seem that there are any reliable, genuine reviews online in places normally accessible, like Google reviews, I thought I'd write one here for those seeking truthful information. I've waited for a few months before writing a review, to use the brush daily, to see if it actually makes a difference or not and if it's worth the high cost.
First the good/positive:
This is truly the best quality hairbrush I have ever owned! It runs smoothly through thick/wavy hair, and removes tangles easily. It definitely feels different than most hairbrushes on the market - much better - offering a very deep feeling run through the hair, almost massage like against the scalp in ability to wake up the scalp, without hurting.
The customer service response is very good, though very slow. They responded to each question/inquiry I had, with detailed information, addressing all correspondence, but it took days and sometimes weeks in between when I would send a question and they would respond to it.
The negative/bad:
The cost. This is the most expensive brush I've ever owned, and I paid the premium because of their marketing claims of it being superior because of how it's made, materials used, gold plating, etc. However, after conversing back and forth with their customer service team, it was told to me by them that the gold plating does not, in fact, offer any specific benefits beyond the look. They said that they plate it with gold because, basically, that's how it's always been done. The bad part is that the plating wears OFF within the first few months of use! So they charge for this and it doesn't last. When I wrote back in about this, they said the brush continues to work beneficially and with NO DIFFERENCE in outcome, without the gold plating. So I asked what the point of the plating is, if it works just as well without, and they said because that's how it's always been made but not to worry, because it works just as well without the plating. So I asked why they don't just offer a cheaper alternative without the plating, and he said that's something they're working on making available. So had I just waited until they made this cheaper one available, I would experience the same benefits without the steep cost.
It made absolutely zero difference with my hair. They claim it saves thinning hair. It does not. It feels wonderful, and I love it for its actual feel on my scalp when I use it, but it does not make hair silkier (mine as already in pretty decent shape on this count anyway), and certainly did not make mine less thin. Since a brush cannot correct thinning hair that's a result of iron deficiency or hormone imbalance, the claim that it saves thinning hair is sketchy. I've used the brush now for several months and my hair looks the same - literally exactly the same - as it did before I started using this brush.
Would I recommend it? - yes! Hands down! It is an awesome brush and well made for sure.
Is it worth the cost? No! Emphatic no. I'd have preferred to pay half the cost and not have the useless gold plating and just have a brush that feels great and works on my hair to brush easily through and remove tangles. Without the marketing hype of saving thinning hair or making it silkier.
