My husband and I purchased a Smart Retract gate for our outdoor patio space to help with our children and dog not running into the street. We have been familiar with Smart Retract Gates as my sister has two in her house that we use often. We immediately thought of getting two of these gates once we complete the rebuild of our outdoor space. They are durable, reliable, and our favorite - Made in America. They work for indoor and outdoor spaces, although we plan to bring both gates in during the winter months just to keep them out of the cold weather. We wanted a gate that we can use when we are outside, but can pull back when we are not outside. Smart retract was the best option on the market. A metal gate does not offer us the same option, as they cannot be retracted in any way. We also wanted a product that was safe for our children, where we did not have to worry about them climbing up the gate and getting hurt. The Smart retract allows us to pull the gate over our opening and lock the gate in place so there is no "give" when our kids push on it. The ability to lock the gate in place is one of my favorite features. Overall, if you are looking for a gate that can retract, that is safe for both your children and animals, can lock into place for maximum protection, and is made in America - Smart Retract is for you! Seriously, we cannot recommend this product enough for both children and animals. If you need a retractable gate for your indoor or outdoor space, this gate is for you!

We absolutely love our Retract-A-Gate gates from Smart Retract. We have been using our gates in the foyer of our home at the bottom and top of stairs. We have an energetic toddler at home and these gates give us peace of mind knowing that she is safe when roaming around the main floor of our home. The gates are easy to install and so easy to use. I love that I’m able to open and close the gates with one hand (very helpful when holding items or a child). We have been using the gates daily for over a year and have had no issues. The gates still look brand new and sleek in our home! We would recommend them to anyone searching for the perfect gate to use with children or pets.

RetractoGate made our difficult staircase safe. We have a challenging setup with our staircase located in a thin, narrow hallway that connects three rooms at the top of the stairs. Because our staircase banister is made of metal, many standard gates wouldn’t work, and a pressure‑mounted gate was not a safe option.

Re‑Tracto‑Gate went above and beyond. I sent them photos of our staircase, and their team carefully reviewed them, marked them up, and provided clear, step‑by‑step instructions tailored specifically to our space. The level of detail and personalization was impressive.

During installation, when we had questions, their customer service was exceptional. They were able to pull up our profile immediately and walk us through the process over the phone in real time, making a potentially stressful install smooth and reassuring.

The gate fits perfectly, feels secure, and looks great. It’s also easy for me and older family members to access all the rooms connected to the staircase without being a tripping hazard. I can’t recommend Re‑Tracto‑Gate enough—for both their product quality and truly outstanding customer service.

Retract-A-Gate has great customer support - very responsive. I love that they’re a small family owned company selling 100% USA made & manufactured products. The gates are sturdy and allow me to relax and enjoy my little nieces and nephews without constantly worrying they’re going to take a tumble on the stairs.

We own 2 retract a gates. We switched from the old style metal gate to these and haven’t looked back. They are simple to install, safer and have a much smaller footprint than our metal gate. I like that you can remove the whole system quickly and that it provides a lot of flexibility for installation. It’s also worth supporting American made and owned companies. 🇺🇸 Highly recommend!

Retract-a-gate is easy to use, very safe, and all the while being very aesthetically pleasing to look at! I have looked at many retractable gates and a lot of them have reviews that they break after installation. For your baby's safety it is not worth the risk to buy a cheaper poorly built gate! I love that it is durable, and looks so nice in a space. I also love that it can be left rolled up if you don't need it, and you hardly notice it!

Absolutely delighted with Retract-a-Gate at Flowery Dell Lodges! It's incredibly easy to use for our guests, providing both convenience and safety. Installation was a breeze and so easy, and the sleek design means it discreetly hides away to the side when not in use, there’s also no bottom bar to trip over at the top of the stairs. A wonderfully easy and efficient product – can highly recommend, we’re so pleased with it we’ve just ordered another 7!!

I bought a gate in September 23 last year and was very happy with it. In fact, I wanted to install it in a second location but needed some additional hardware. I went to their website to order some new hardware and they informed me that they came out with a new gate design in March 24 and no longer support the "old" design. I bought the gate ~6 months ago and they no longer offer hardware for the old design? I would not recommend buying based on this experience.

We got Smart Retracts retractable baby gate to help our toddler stay in the living room while we were cooking in the kitchen. Having a gate that retracts is so convenient, the alternative would be having a huge immovable gate blocking our living room 24/7. This gate works very well. The materials are high quality. Mounting the gate is straightforward. The gate itself retracts well and the gate mesh material is strong (it's survived our toddler hanging on it!). Overall, a quality investment with a very helpful customer support team.

I was going through some old emails and realised that we have now had these gates for over 8 years. We purchased 4 of them, with 2 in near daily usage for the past 8 years. None of them has ever given us the slightest bit of trouble in operation and they work as well now as when first installed. I think the testament to ease of operation (and discreteness) is where other parents have been in a hurry to remove their child gates, we have been happy to leave ours in place. We have highly recommended these to other parents and pet owners, and they were the only solution to one particularly awkward (and large) gap.

I have purchased four gates from them over the last five years, and we're actively using all of them. The flexibility of being able to cover odd corners, etc. makes them far superior to any other gate. They also are entirely intrusive when retracted. It's the best gate in the market, hands down.

I recommend them to all my friends and family.
