Overrated ended after almost 3 years with equal to what you'll get in a standard allowance from universal credit. The deduction ain't worth anything in the end of it.

Highly Disappointing, Unprofessional, and Unresponsive Service

My experience with SLS has been incredibly frustrating due to slow response times, poor service, and an irresponsible case handler. The legal administrator managing my case, Brandon Wright, has been unprofessional, largely unreachable, and completely lacking in follow-up.

1) Irresponsible and Unreachable
* Lack of Guidance & Misplaced Scope Threat: My case timeline assumed I would receive the court's defense and counterclaim documents after 15 May 2026, allowing SLS to file a witness statement on my behalf by 5 June 2026. As of 2 June 2026, the court had not yet issued these documents. Despite proactively chasing the court myself and regularly updating Brandon, he surprisingly emailed me on 19 May stating that SLS needed these documents to assess if my case was "in or out of scope." Threatening to classify my case as out of scope for a court delay outside of my control is entirely unacceptable. As a client, I expect SLS to guide me through the next steps rather than leaving me to guess the strategy.
* Unreachable and Broken Promises: On 22 May 2026, Brandon stated he would escalate the matter to a solicitor urgently. On 26 May, he promised to get in touch that same day to advise if SLS would take the matter on. After that, he went completely radio silent. I attempted to reach him via his direct line, the SLS hotline, and email, but received zero response for a week.
* Continued Indecision & Critical Delays: I finally managed to reach Brandon by phone on the morning of 2 June. Disappointingly, he still could not confirm whether SLS would continue with my case, stating he needed more time to discuss the matter internally and would reply later. This was totally unacceptable. With the witness statement deadline on 5 June, he had made no progress. I had given him more than enough time to confirm SLS's position or issue a full refund. Because of his severe delays, I was left with virtually no time to seek alternative legal representation.

2) Unprofessional Drafting Process
Whenever Brandon sent me a draft version of my witness statement, I replied with a clear, concise summary list of necessary corrections and modifications. Instead of making these edits independently using the clear information provided, he would call me and hold me on the phone to modify the document word-by-word. This was highly inefficient and deeply unprofessional.

3) Complete Lack of Follow-Up
Following a hearing on 17 August 2026, the judge granted a Possession Order mandating that the tenants vacate by 31 August 2026. Unfortunately, the tenants refused to leave. By 1 September, I expected SLS to have proactively obtained the Sealed copy of the Possession Order so we could immediately transfer the case to bailiff or High Court enforcement. Instead, SLS took absolutely no follow-up action. Ultimately, I had to chase the Manchester Court independently, successfully obtaining the unsealed copy on 2 September and the sealed copy on 7 September.

Can highly reccomend SLS Solicitors. Throughtout my housing disrepair they was very professional and informative and so helpful and really went above and beyond for me. Thank you SLS for making it a stress free experience!!

Excellent service regarding my notice to quit. Professional, knowledgeable and very responsive throughout. Everything was explained clearly, and the matter was handled efficiently. Highly recommend!

I was quoted for an eviction notice including full document review. I paid. The engagement letter was then sent to me to sign. Solicitor called me and asked me to sign there and then. I did because I am in a time-sensitive situation. When I read the actual contract, the terms were completely different to what had been agreed in principle (in writing) - I was only paying for an eviction notice without a document review and told that I need to pay more for a document review. Even the prices between the quote and the contract were different.

I would avoid - having to check every single thing yourself completely defeats the purpose of appointing a solicitor. Thankfully they have agreed to give me a full refund (I will update this review if I don't receive it).
