Van window falling off...
Hi Siestacampers
We rented a VW converted camper around Christmas. The van looked nice and the handover was smoth. A few locking straps were broken but nothing serious.
A few days into the renting period, when the van was parked, the rear glass simply went off and fell on the ground. For some brush of luck it didn't broke.Called Siesta and was informed that I should go to a auto glass workshop within the area where I was to have them check it and glued back. Within an afternoon (about 4 hours) it was fixed.
The problem is...I don't work for Siesta. I used my time, from my holidays, to sort out their problem. I obviously asked for compensation based on this and their offer was the money for the tolls plus the cost of the toll identifier (about 50€).
I found it clearly insuficient and didn't accept it and got the reply that this things can happen.... I've been driving for 30 years and it's the first time that a car glass just falls off. Luckilly the car was parked and not in transit.
To be perfectly transparent they still ofered another 35 euro but I was so disapointed that didn't even reply... when you pay 650 euro for 5 days that is not even a full day of rental.
Anyway, there were a couple more things that I had no intention to complain about but since I'm here... - The material used in the conversion seemed to be of poor quality
- the curtains fixing were broken on most places.
- The toll identifier was somewhere lost in the car and no one noticed until we passed one toll, when we call back we were told not to use the auto tolls...
- The cups and cutlery were dirty
- the gas bottle was connected when the van was handed over to us (for safety reasons, when travelling the bottle shoudl be disconnected)
- the advertising was that the price per day was around 70-80 euro but with all the tax and fees the final price was more like 130 euro.
Not happy, not coming back
PS: replying to Siesta campers:
-guys, this was not a VW transformation so please don't put the blame on on them.
-In this camper I'm pretty sure it was a normal gas valve, so don't drive with the gas on.
-Glass does not get exasperated... people do.

Renting from Lisboa
We had a really great trip in south Portugal with your campervan even though we’ve had minor problems with the heating of the water but nevermind, we are definitely renting with you again!
Plus the price was one of the best on the market at that time and the customers service was really friendly and helpful in Lisboa.

This was my first experience with renting a camper and I have a very positive experience:
- renting a camper: 5/5
- camper: 5/5
- service/advice during the rental: 5/5 [I had direct contact with the advisor, which was very helpful especially that it was my first experience with a camper]
The one remark from my side ["lesson learned"]- I had purchased the best insurance and during the rental I damaged the external step and when returning it turned out that the insurance doesn't cover this element .....
YES!!!, of course it was written in the insurance description, but I didn't notice this entry....

First time in a campervan
First time in a campervan - after years of camping - and we wanted to test out how our dog got on. We stayed in the Alentejo and Algarve area and had no problem finding places to stay (Alferce, Minas do São Domingas and Parque Campismo - Barragem Monte da Rocha near Garvão). All quiet and plenty of space for the dog to run around - perfect.
The staff at Siesta Campers were very helpful and welcoming. The van was clean, everything worked, and the one small issue we had was fixed by a fellow camper from the Netherlands. There's a real sense of camaraderie amongst the campervan crowd I think.
Parking at supermarkets was sometimes a challenge - but we managed by taking two spaces - no one complained.
Even for the Algarve, I think the weather was warm for November and most days, shorts and a t-shirt were enough during the days.
Will be coming back - there's more places to explore with the doggie.

Great customer service and clean, well equipped bus
Great customer service, quick to reply and very friendly and kind staff. The team welcomed us very kindly in Porto and explained everything very well. The bus is very clean and well equipped. Great experience from booking, to traveling, to bringing the bus back and getting the invoice. Would totally recommend!

Along the coast…
We had a lovely journey with our siesta beach and traveled almost 1300km along the beautiful coast of Portugal. The camper was a good home for a week and was a great opportunity to do this trip. Also the service was friendly and nice. Obrigarda!

Friendly, reliable and super helpful/reactive
This was our second time renting a van for a holiday, and after a previous bad experience with another company, we were a bit anxious. But, spoiler alert: everything went wonderfully with Siesta Campers.
Key points:
- Good Vibes: From their website and blog to the customer support and warehouse team, everyone we encountered was incredibly helpful, kind, and laid-back.
- Beautiful Van: The van was a brand new model, impeccably clean, and featured beautiful colors. We were immediately happy when we saw it and felt very comfortable in it.
- Reliable and Valuable Service: The process was transparent, with no hidden costs for extra options during booking (like unlimited kilometers and reasonable pick-up/check-out times). Additionally, the customer support team was incredibly responsive both times we contacted them.
Conclusion: We were extremely satisfied with both the van and the company. We will definitely rent from them again!

Couldn’t ask for more
Couldn’t ask for more. I’ve wanted a campervan, nice and easy. They’ve accommodated my requests and made things simple to everyone. The van was in good shape, made my trip very smooth.

two weeks with Siesta
Just had an amazing two weeks travelling around Portugal and Spain with the Siesta Atlantic. Customer service were really friendly and responsive, the van was nearly new from 2024 and very clean. the team in Lisbon gave us some great tips and would do it all again at the drop of a hat. We rented a van for 5 days with my friends in Lisbon. We chose the Pacific, given we were 4 people, and our experience was perfect!
Spacious van, perfect driving performance and they really thought of everything you might need during living on wheels.
The stuff was really friendly and helpful! :) Really recommend it. Also, Portugal is very van-motorhome friendly, so it is the way to go.

Very Helpful
Pedro, Bruno and Bruno were so helpful. We bought our camper from Siesta Campers 2 1/2 years ago but had a few problems (wear and tear). They bent over backwards to help us and got it all sorted within a matter of hours. Highly recommended and Thank You.

Great campervan, service needs improvement
We rented, for the second time, a campervan (VW California) for 3 weeks at Siesta Campers Porto. The reception and explanation on the pick-up day were great. On the 2nd day, a warning light (Oil level too high, visit workshop!) appeared on the dashboard. Contacted Siesta and they told me that most likely the light would be gone the next morning (cold engine). The next morning the light was gone, but the level on the dipstick was still over the maximum. I was adviced that, if the van was not driving weird, I could cotinue driving. A day later, on a Sunday, again a warning light. Reaction: "there is no big problem. Advice: open and close the hood. If you wish, you can visit a garage on Monday if the light comes back on". I would have expected a more active approach from their side as in "We will make an appointment at garage-x". Now, I had to spend valuable time finding a Portuguese garage. Luckily, the open/close the hood-procedure was affective, but still I think it's a bad advice if the level is visibly way too high.
Second point of improvement: we were given a gas-bottle that was not full. We were told: "if you do not cook a four-course meal every day, you will make it". However during the 2nd week, we ran out of gas. We visited 6 addresses that were listed in a list that was mentionned in the rental agreement, but none of them sold the required gas bottle. I kept informing Siesta about our search, but the were not active in helping me to find an address that sold the right bottle. Finally, with the help of a local Bricomarché employee, we found the right bottle at an address that was not listed in the list provided. This process costed us about half a day of our valuable time, the only reaction from Siesta was "we are sorry for the inconvenience". I would have expected, especially after we had problems with the oil-level, a more generous offer (e.g. x-% discount on your next rental) from their side.
Conclusion: great van, but once you are on the road and run into problems, you are more or less on your own.
Finally, we advice Sieste to provide a water hose to fill up the reservoir, to provide 'level-blocks' to get the camper at a (more) horizontal level as a lot of camper-sites are not level and give a (second) full gas bottle if there is a chance that the customer runs out of gas during the rental period.

We did have some issues with booking as it wasn't quite clear if the camper we were looking for was available or not, but after reaching out to Siesta via email we quickly go that sorted out.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. You have to fill in all your extras and personal information to hear they are fully booked! But they have deals. So no worries. We took a look at them and there was an interesting one: for 6 days renting a camper from Lisbon to Faro. I got in touch with them because they claim to be very helpfull. After a few questions there was the quote and reques for paiment. We did it and were very happy. Then I got a phone call. There was a mistake: we could only pick up a day later. Ok, not so wonderfull but we agreed. And then to hear there was a complete mistake: there was nothing available. If I was still interested, I could take a look in a couple of days. The money would be refunded. A sorry and that was it.

Cheater! Received a damaged van (damaged sink). Reported the damage as soon as possible. Despite we had full coverage insurance (and did not cause the damage), they charged us over 600 € for the repair (the material should be around 100€). Contacting the lawyer. Never again.
