I haven’t had to use the services very much yet but so far it’s working well for me. Is it a little more work sure, but it’s super easy to submit invoices. It’s easy to get on touch with a live person and they have always been very helpful. I am very satisfied with Side Car Health.
The side car rep that has been helping me navigate the system has been fantastic. It was difficult to adjust to using this insurance at first, but with her patience and experience it has become much easier.
It was easy to do once I I had somebody show me. I was just explained wrong not by you guys by my work
I talked to one certain lady at least three times and he went step by step what to do and told me if there was a problem have the pharmacy or my doctor's office call her. She was wonderful. Very polite and was very nice to me
If I could give zero stars , I would . $5k deductible . What ever procedure or care that is diagnostic, is all out of pocket until the deductible is met. I feel like I’m paying a premium every paycheck , but I’m doing all of my own legwork . And I’m basically “Dr shopping “ and having to go to a different pharmacy every time I need a refill because we are supposed to go in the portal and shop around where it’s cheapest . Then you have to jump through hoops transferring your prescription every few months . I hate it and I do not feel INSURED ! Customer service ppl give you incorrect information and I’ve even had a rep hang up on me because I asked for a supervisor

Sidecar Health refused continuity of care for my son's surgery and a paperwork technicality cost us $7,000
I'm writing this as a mom who is still angry and still trying to make sense of how we ended up here.
My son Daniel is 22 and away at college. His shoulder started hurting last spring. At first we thought he just slept on it wrong. Then a few weeks turned into a few months, and the pain wasn't going away.
He saw a doctor. He got an MRI. The doctor recommended physical therapy and a steroid injection. Daniel did all of it. Three months of PT. The injection. He showed up. He did the work. None of it helped. He kept hurting.
That's when he came to UHealth in December. By that point, he had already been in pain for eight months and had already exhausted everything a doctor would normally try before talking about surgery. The team at UHealth ordered another MRI, this one with contrast, because they suspected something the first one had missed. They were right. The imaging on January 15th showed a tear in his shoulder. On January 22nd, the doctor sat him down, confirmed the diagnosis, and told him surgery was the answer. The surgical authorization was submitted that same week, while we were still on our old plan.
The plan was set. Daniel had a path forward. He was finally going to get to stop hurting.
Then on February 1st, our employer switched to Sidecar Health.
Daniel's surgical consult had originally been scheduled for the last week of January. He couldn't make it because of his college class schedule. The first appointment they could give him was February 3rd. Same hospital. Same medical record. Same diagnosis. Same plan. Just a different week on the calendar.
That three-day gap is the entire reason Sidecar denied continuity of care.
Let me say that again, because it still doesn't feel real when I type it. My son had been in pain for eight months. He had failed PT. He had failed an injection. He had two MRIs. He had a confirmed diagnosis. He had a surgery already in motion. And Sidecar Health told us none of it counted, because he hadn't physically walked into the surgeon's office before February 1st.
I tried to be reasonable. I really did. I understand insurance companies have rules. I understand that Sidecar's whole pitch is "we show you prices and you choose," and in a normal situation I think that's a fine idea. But this wasn't a normal situation. We weren't shopping. We weren't choosing. We were in the middle of getting our kid out of pain.
The surgery date was picked around his college spring break so he could recover without missing classes. There was no room to start over with a new surgeon, repeat the consults, redo the workup, and still hit that window. We had to keep going with the team that already knew his case.
I pushed. Our benefits consultant pushed harder. We walked Sidecar through the medical records, line by line. We asked for reconsideration. We asked for a clinical review. We asked for it to go to executive leadership. Every single level came back with the same one-sentence answer. No conversation. No engagement with the evidence. Just no.
So we paid. We wrote a check for more than $7,000 out of pocket so Daniel could have his surgery with the surgeon who knew him, at the hospital where his whole workup was done. Seven thousand dollars because of a calendar.
I'm a mom. I'm not a policy expert. But I know what continuity of care is supposed to mean. It's supposed to protect families in exactly the situation we were in. Mid-treatment. Mid-diagnosis. Already on a path. If your continuity of care policy can be defeated by a rescheduled appointment, it isn't really continuity of care. It's a loophole with a friendly name on it.
If you are an HR leader or sit on a benefits committee and Sidecar Health is being pitched to you, please ask hard questions about how their continuity of care policy actually works for real people in real situations. Ask for written examples. Get the answers in your contract. Because when it was our family's turn, the answer was no, and the cost landed on us.
Daniel is recovering well. No thanks to Sidecar.

Sidecar is easy to navigate and fun (although still challenging) to learn.
A different kind of insurance. It actually makes sense!
I was diagnosed in August with breast cancer. I was affraid of what I would have to pay and if my insurance covered it. Needless to say, Sidecar changed all of that for me. I never had to worry about my bills.Mrs. Deborah took excellent care of me and made sure that I only had to foucus on my treatments and getting better. I would highly recommend this isurance to everyone
I had an unexpected injury that required surgery, and working with Sidecar made a stressful situation so much easier. Their Member Care team was incredibly helpful throughout the entire process—they clearly outlined everything I needed, answered all my questions, and made sure nothing fell through the cracks.
What really stood out was how quickly they moved to expedite everything, so I had all approvals and information in place well before the day of surgery. Having that level of support and clarity took a huge weight off my shoulders during an already difficult time.
I’m very grateful for how smooth they made the experience and would highly recommend Sidecar to anyone looking for responsive, supportive care when it matters most.
Sidecar Health is a plan that empowers and rewards people willing to take responsibility for their health care decisions. After reading some negative reviews here, the common thread is that far too many people are unwilling to accept personal responsibility to shop for fairly priced providers. This attitude is the root cause of the outrageous and unsustainable premium increases we’re all seeing every year - and it’s not going to change unless people start taking responsibility for their health care. The Sidecar Health model is simultaneously the FUTURE (barring industry collapse) as well as the PAST - this model is “revolutionary” in today’s market yet it is how the US healthcare industry worked for decades up until just a generation or two ago (usual, customary, reasonable industry standards which were the baseline for all insurance). This is a foreign concept to most Americans today but it is historical fact. Sidecar Health will reward proactive and responsible people, and even if you struggle to adapt to an honest and transparent model they will patiently help you through the learning curve. Their coverage/benefits are more than adequate for the vast majority of care, and they protect you from emergency/unanticipated “surprise” costs. I have never had a better insurance plan in my life, thank you Sidecar Health and member care for single handedly raising the bar across a broken industry and being the change you wish to see in the world.
Completely unique model that reinvents healthcare. Made insurance way less complicated and eliminated the anxiety of networks and prior auths.
Overall I am really liking this insurance. Any time I need to call, they are very helpful and friendly in answering my questions. The app is easy to use and it's kind of fun to see if you can find the best deal for your money with services and prescriptions. Getting credits for using lower cost pharmacies and doctors is a nice bonus.
Sidecar Health is making a significant difference in the lives of our staff by helping us better understand the true nature of the care we are seeking and empowering us to be in the driver’s seat rather than navigating the bureaucracy of traditional healthcare.
The onboarding process, ongoing follow-up, and meaningful connection points they provide for our staff reflect the kind of support and engagement we have always hoped for but have rarely experienced as an organization.
The level of transparency and personal support they have brought to our team is truly making a difference in the lives of our staff.
I have had nothing but an excellent experience using Side Car. From utilizing it for routine Doctor's appointments to now having to managing a rather extensive healthcare event, the Side Car team has been professional, positive and present to my needs. I honestly can't even imagine having to navigate my old health insurance provider(s) during this current healthcare event! Side Car has made it so easy- from loading up invoices to reaching out to my navigator by email or phone to have my many questions answers quickly and compassionately. I can focus on what is important, my health and recovery, not paperwork and invoices. Thank you all at Team Side Car
Trying to maintain a schedule of obtaining medications is absolutely a pain. They expect you to shop around and get prescriptions moved from pharmacy to pharmacy each time for the best price. Even the screen shots they send you are not the prices charged at a pharmacy so where are they getting their data and information. This all just makes for terrible costs and wasted time trying to follow their processes. Avoid if you can.

We've been on the plan for about 18 months now and love it. The biggest factor for us is being able to get one of our kids into specialists who normally don't "take insurance." Navigating this health condition used to be terrifying — never knowing if we could get into a doctor (in-network providers had crazy wait lists) or how much insurance would pay for if we went out-of-network. Now we know that as long as a provider is seeing patients, we'll be able to get in.
Prescriptions that weren’t covered by my last insurance has been covered by Sidecar.
