Beware of Billing Malpractices
Beware of Billing Malpractices
I signed up for 3 of their cheapest VPS servers... $25.95 per month, they didn't have a ton of drive space, so I added an upgrade for $10.50 per month. So $36.45 per month is what I should have been billed per server. Their billing system SUCKS, so they charge it under 6 unique invoices, 6 unique transactions per month -- fine with me I guess.
Down the road, I find a better deal somewhere else and decide to switch services. Roughly the same price $40 instead, but faster servers and better service. I cancel my services with SharkTech to see another set of 3 transactions come through 2 weeks later for a canceled service. This is odd, because it should have been 6 transactions for a renewal and the total amount on each transaction was $39.95, not the $36.45 I would be paying per invoice if they bundled them.
After contacting them, they refunded all 3 $39.95 transactions. I'd be completely okay if this was the end of the story, but it's not.
A few days later, I see another group of 3 transactions, each for $25.95, the renewal fee that matches any other transaction. This made me start investigating. They've been charging me 3x39.95 or $119.85 for something I never purchased for MONTHS!!! When I contacted them, they said it's on me for not canceling a PayPal subscription on PayPal's side. I have never had to cancel a PayPal subscription manually -- the merchant always has when you cancel the services, it's also in the PayPal API documentation.
I posted chargebacks against them for every $39.99 transaction that I can find through the PayPal portal AND the renewal they JUST charged me for canceled services. We will see what PayPal has to say.
