I found the website confusing
I found the website confusing, because all the prices are without tax added. They only added the tax at the end, for me this is a NO NO. In the UK 99% of shops add the VAT for customers to make shopping easier to understand. thanks.

on the UK Govt websites it clearly says

Thanks for your review Jeff. To explain our stance on showing UK VAT exclusive pricing; most of our visitors and customers to our website don’t pay U.K. VAT as they’re from one of the 100+ countries that we ship to globally. Only a relatively small percentage of customers are from the U.K. The usual rule for showing U.K. VAT is that you should show VAT inclusive pricing if the majority of your customers / visitors would pay it. In our case this isn’t true, and showing VAT inclusive pricing to customers from Canada, Australia, USA, China, Mexico, France, Germany etc would only confuse and mislead them.
All of our product pages show prices that are clearly “excluding VAT” (and this is shown immediately after the price; and incorporates U.K. VAT, EU VAT or any other local taxes that may be payable.
If you request shipping to the U.K. then you’ll find that the UK VAT is correctly calculated (inc VAT on the shipping service if relevant) and charged before you checkout or pay, and it’s detailed individually on the checkout summary.
If we were a company that mainly sold to U.K. customers then we’d definitely show individual product pricing including U.K. VAT - but we’re not.
Hopefully this clarifies the situation.
Recent order for a Rainflow dispersion plate…
Ordered a Rainflow dispersion plate just after Easter; as with all my orders from Shades of Coffee it arrived quickly and was well-packed. I had a question about fitting the plate and this was answered very promptly by Adrian (the installation video is well-worth watching, particularly regarding sliding the two parts together to ensure the silicone seal is in the correct position). Apart from this item, I've also had PID and pressure gauge kits from SOC and installation support (if needed) has always been excellent, and these various upgrades have resulted in a huge improvement in espresso quality and consistency.

They don't only sell an incredible and super valuable parts and upgrade kits, but have a top notch support! Very humane product. Having a simple PID which isn't hard to install and it looks great - priceless.

Yes, EU countries force you to pay VAT and a handling fee before delivery - but we make this very obvious on our website in a number of places, and giving us a low score for extra taxes due to an EU law when this should be a review of our goods and services is probably not what the intention is. Hopefully we can help you again in the future anyway.
Shades of Coffee - Excellent Customer Service
For the several orders I have placed, I've only had great experiences with Shades of Coffee. Shipping from the UK, I've always received my packages faster than expected. But the shining star of a SoC shopping experience has to be Adrian. Questions are always answered, sometimes minutes after asking. Adrian is very knowledgeable about the products and all things Gaggia. I highly recommend Shades of Coffee!

SoC people are amazing
SoC people are amazing. They have all the imaginable mods for Gaggia machines and the prices are competitive. The best part is that they deliver to India and I’ve never faced any customs delays. Sometimes there is a customs levy but never anything unreasonable. And SoC customer support, if you ever need it, it a breath of fresh air! Super responsive and helpful.
