Great service - thanks

Bought 3 electrically opening roof lights from roofmaker. Great sales service and delivery - product is good quality and easy to install. However I’ve had a very slow experience with their customer service since one of the roof lights developed a fault with the opening mechanism. Multiple emails and calls to them after they made no progress with a CS support request for more than a month - they finally managed to sort it and provide a fix after I posted this review.

Great service from start to finish. Highly recommended.

We are extremely disappointed and frustrated with Roof Maker for some abysmal after sales ‘care’. The latest issue is a faulty motor which means the rooflight won’t open but they will not set a date to send their repair team: we are (still) waiting since it was reported at the start of April. Almost zero effective communication from the entire team and it is on us to chase continually, if they bother to take our calls. FIND AN ALTERNATIVE SUPPLIER IF YOU CAN AND AVOID THE HEARTACHE.

We chose a premium electric access rooflight with inbuilt blind and paid a substantial sum for it. We thought it was the perfect product. It was ordered August 2025 and delivered September 2025. Our builder took delivery. When it was then installed in November 2025, we discovered on unpackaging it that the blind was missing. After some initial bluster from Roof Maker that any damage should have been reported within 1 day of delivery, they did eventually accept that it was their error and a fundamental part simply hadn't been included! They promised to send and fit the blind (which had been originally ordered and paid for). The blind was then delivered at the start of December 2025, but without a fitting team. Our builder was gracious enough to accept fitting, but having assembled the team on site (they’d moved on to their next job by this point), they found that the blind was too big and didn’t fit. Roof Maker then remade the blind (after much chasing) and it was delivered shortly before Xmas 2025 and fitted by our builder in January 2026. This was a frustrating process but we were happy that the product finally worked as it should and could leave the saga of installation behind us.

Just 3 months after installation at the start of April 2026, we got an error code on the remote and the rooflight would no longer open. Between January and April it had barely been used given it was Winter. A quick call to the customer services team confirmed it was a faulty motor and that they would send someone to repair it if we were able to provide some access details. Photos were duly sent and it was confirmed the repair could be done from the inside. A repair date was set for 3 June 2026, which was a relief following the heatwave at the end of May. However, the repair was cancelled a few days before due to an incident with the fitting team; we were assured that the repair would be rescheduled asap once Roof Maker had worked out the schedule. Fast forward to 15 July 2026 and still no date or any proper communication from Roof Maker. I try and call 2 or 3 times a week and have spoken to many members of the team who all repeat the party line that it’s a very busy time and that they are working on the schedule and will get back to us with a date asap. I’ve been promised a call back the same day with an update most of the times but without ever actually receiving one.

Noting that we are not alone in receiving this very poor service amongst the other reviews on here, I emailed the MD directly as per his suggested replies below. I have not received any response. We are now in the throes of the third heatwave of the year and cannot open the window to help cool the house!

We have been extremely patient, but our patience has worn very thin now. We don’t pretend to have any insight of the Roof Maker internal repair diary, but cannot understand how a new schedule cannot be created in 6 weeks for a future repair date. It’s a very simple matter of manpower, number of repairs and days of the week. It smacks of extreme incompetence and zero customer care.

We will need a result soon before we look to the courts to resolve. It is completely unacceptable and we are bitterly disappointed.

The Roofmaker response is ill-informed. I confirm we have a ticket number (44489077594) as referenced in our correspondence to the MD (still awaiting a reply) and earlier emails and calls to the customer services team. My most recent calls have gone via a direct number provided to me by the customer service team.

Your initial diagnosis was that the error code relates to a broken motor. How are you diagnosing this differently now to a pinched cable?

The builder has long since finished the extension and there has been no change in environment or any further building works between it working and suddenly not working. We look forward to welcoming your team on site very soon.

Excellent Service. Chelsea handled my enquiry with care and cleared and questions I asked. She left me with no doubts about the product or price. Although I was undecided about an order she still sent me all the details I needed to decide. I would recommend giving them a call.

Abbs was my first point of contact once I’d chosen a skylight. He replied to my emails the same day and arranged for an external contractor to remove the wooden skylight and dispose of it and for the installation of the new one. The workmen arrived at 8am and left at midday - job done! Thank you Abbs for advising and helping me through the whole process - v much appreciate it.

This is the second time we have used this company’s roof lantern products including opting for their on site fitting service which is well worth the money they charge as general builders it would take us a considerable more time to fit these roof lanterns so I would highly recommend this additional service and this ensures a great finished product on completion

We were buying a large roof lantern and the process was very straightforward. Abbs answered all my questions and was very helpful. We also had a discount which always helps!

I had a very poor experience with Roof Maker.

Before placing the order, I specifically asked how installation would work and whether the skylight could be brought onto the roof. At no point was I told that scaffolding would need to remain in place or that access through the property would not be sufficient.

After paying over £4,400 (including installation), I was then informed that scaffolding was required and the installation could not proceed as expected. This was never disclosed during the quoting process.

The lead time provided was also inaccurate, which further impacted planning with my roofer and added unnecessary disruption.

I also emailed multiple times asking whether the existing scaffolding would be sufficient and received no response.

Within 2 days of ordering, I requested a simple size adjustment, which was refused.

Overall, key installation requirements were only revealed after payment, communication was poor, timelines were unreliable, and there was no flexibility or willingness to resolve the situation.

I would strongly recommend getting absolutely everything in writing upfront before committing.

EDIT: Being accused of “abuse” for simply asserting my consumer rights says everything you need to know about this company.

Communication was fine while they were taking payment, but as soon as the money was received, responses became vague and unhelpful or non existent. I was left in the lurch with contractors on-site, without clear guidance on installation requirements.

When I raised legitimate concerns and asked for clarity, including requesting a recording of the initial sales call (which I am entitled to request under data protection law), this was refused.

Rather than resolving the issues, they chose to label my concerns as “aggressive” and disengage.

I am now considering further action based on how this has been handled.

Amari was very organised in scheduling the manufacturing and delivery of our luxlite units as a priority drop on the day due to the use of a crane. Was delivered first thing without any issues. Good quality service.

Extremley helpful, efficient and knowledgeable. Great to have a company chasing me to make sure everything is alright.
